I just tried to watch Chicago Fire at 9:33pm, and knewc/NextPVR went sort of wonky. It didn't ever start actually playing. And I'm pretty sure that knewc actually died (or maybe just went into the background) and I was back at the Kodi menu. Then I tried (multiple times) to restart knewc, but it just kept timing out.

Searched Wiki and Forum and there were no matches for Network Icons. I have 2 sets of icons: .jpeg and .npg. Which should I use and where should I put it?

I'm trying to keep my laptop in sleep mode overnight, and I've noticed that nextPVRServer.exe (amongst other services) is waking it up.  Is there anyway of running this service during the day?

Anytime I am watching live tv in the client and I click settings and then devices and channels... within a few seconds the client stops and pops up the attached message... The tuner you are using was required for a recording.....

But nothing is being recorded or watched in the browser.... sounds like either an incorrect message or a bug.

Just thought I would pass it on for the fix list.

I had a failed recording last night, and while looking at the logs I noticed that the OnResume happened a few minutes after the scheduled time. Full logs are attached, but here are some relevant snippets:

Hi Guys,
I've been using TVHEADEND on Ubuntu 20.10 connected to a separate Kodi client also on Ubuntu 20.10.  When first done for 20.04, this were quite nice, but since updating to 20.10 the streaming video had some issues that I cant crack.  So I thought I'd try NextPVR...
I installed with the helper ".deb" and things install, the web page works, it finds my tuners (a few Hauppage cards) and even get the EPG.  But it wont play a video or record with the error suggesting it doesnt have access to the correct folders.  I've seen this type of issue before on ubuntu, they are more strict than many linux systems.  Can someone help this newbie get the folder permissions correct...

How do identify which user is running the nextpvr?

Hi.  here is my suggestion.  Based on using the hardware tuners I have bought in the past or watching channels directly on a ASTC television.. I perceive that they are grabbing the epg data OTA while you are watching a channel.  They dont require me to run an update program.

Some cheapies show you only the current show, most show you at least the next show for a channel or a little more.  They also have all the data in hand for channels in a group like 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4 if you are watching one of these channels.  I suppose this comes about because you have watched anyone of the channels in the group for a minimum required data cycle.

Depending on how much you paid for the tuner or tv some even save the epg data from the channel you were watching and add it to a database of epg that have been collected from channels you surfed past... provided you lingered long enough for the data stream to come in.  Thus over a period of say an hour and you flicking channels and pausing the dvb epg gets built up.  This is challenging to kluge into a standalone hardware device and drives the price up.  Npvr already has generous computing and storage resources to work with as it runs on a PC.

A scheme like this for npvr would be helpful as it would mitigate the perceived need for multiple TOTAL epg updates per day.  Generally one has a few favourite channels and wants to watch and record shows from these channels in the next few hours after looking at the tv guide.   The hubub about total updates for all channels for weeks or months has more to do with a special niche of users and with our greed for data and not so much our need for all this data as offered by paid service providers.   So grabbing data from astc ota and updating a channel while it is being watched is a pretty good way to take advantage of free OTA epg.  I would propose that NPVR invest some time looking into how this can be done on the fly as this this data is being refreshed continuously by the broadcasters and is free.

Ota epg has improved immensly in North America from the early days of ASTC.  From what I see all the major american networks are supplying a minimum of 9.5 hours of data through their affiliates, some at least 22 hours regularly.  Canadian networks 2 to 3.5 days of data.

I thought I had seen where streaming services can be used with NPVR including recording. I am now unable to find any information whether this is possible let alone which services work or how to do this.

  My recordings from OTA broadcasts using a BDA 2875 TV Tuner for ATSC record video, but not all sound. The background music seems o be recorded, but there is no voice from the characters.

I have several .ts files of sizes 2.78GB, 2.63GB, 3.93GB, and 3.87GB. All with the same problem.

Please help me to resolve this recording problem so I can get recordings with the correct audio.

I am testing out ver 5 finally.  I have the server set up on a windows machine and am trying to use a second windows machine act as the client.  Am I to understand that the client that comes with the file nextpvr.exe can only run on the same machine as the server is running on?  If this is the case..what shall i use to act as a client on a win pc?
