  Custom HDHR Extra
Posted by: mvallevand - 2020-12-31, 10:17 PM - Forum: Extras - Replies (53)

Attached is the first attempt at providing additional support for HDHR devices.  It serves  two main purposes.

- For Extend devices you can specify transcoding profiles.

- For the new ATSC 3.0 device it can transcode using experimental ffmpeg.exe that does AC4 decoding to AC3 so recordings and Live TV should work on Kodi and other NextPVR clients.  NextPVR web access will likely be limited to powerful PC that can do h265 to h264 transcoding in real time.

This script creates multiple extras for each tuner on the device.

Steps to install Windows users

1. Install python following these steps https://github.com/sub3/NextPVR/wiki/install-python

2.  Install the require python modules as Administrator

pip install lxml requests

3.  Unzip the attached into C:\Users\Public\NPVR-data\scripts.  It should create a folder in scripts called hdhrconnect

4. Run

python C:\Users\Public\NPVR-data\scripts\hdhrconnect\hdhrconnect.py install

and follow the prompts to add Extend or HDHR5-4K devices

If you don't want to automatically add the extra files that are created omit the install parameter

5. For ATSC 3.0 users unzip ac4ffmpeg.zip into "C:\Program Files\NextPVR\Other" Get the file from https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ar-w3NVk_f-MllB7GxxW...g.zip/file

This should work on other platforms but I have only compiled ffmpeg for Ubuntu 20 at this point.  I don't have access to these ATSC devices so there is no telling how the performance will be.

  OTA EPG functionality
Posted by: eastavin - 2020-12-31, 01:56 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (23)

Hi all.  Could someone please comment if OTA EPG actually works in this version for users in USA or Canada?  I am helping a person set up their pvr and we want the simplest possible setup with no ongoing expense.  We realize that one only gets a 4-10 hours of epg at a time depending on the station etc... but that is not a big deal with a computer like this updating all day long if its left running.  This person would be perfectly satisfied with this.

My experience so far is that I have not seen OTA EPG work with Hauppauge x-box/PC tuner or the USB dual tuner USB key and nextpvr.  Is this likely to be a setup issue or the feature is not in working order in ver 4 despite the documentation?  We could use ver 5 if it works there.

Best regards to all.

Kodi video freezes at the end of a show
Posted by: mrdally204 - 2020-12-31, 01:17 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (1)

Hi all,
I have been experiencing freezes at the end of a program on and off for some time now.  It happens at the end of one show and before the next. Kodi sits at a frozen frame on the screen.  I am able to bring up the menu and hit stop.  It takes an extended period of time, but eventually kodi responds and I can start watching again. I pulled logs as soon as it happened, you can find them attached. I'd love to help solve this one ?

Fresh Install - no playback OSD in Kodi/knewc
Posted by: baj1 - 2020-12-30, 11:17 PM - Forum: Linux - Replies (30)

I just reinstalled NextPVR v5.1.0.201216 on Ubuntu v20.04 LTS.  Thankfully I was pretty good about documenting what I did the first time on Mint v19.3, much of it was applicable.

So I have everything working (that I've tested so far), EXCEPT the OSD that shows playback status in the client.  I would have guessed it was a Kodi/knewc issue, but it's not just the local client on the server that has the problem, it's all of my ODroids and RPi4 too, on which nothing has changed.

I went through config.xml but couldn't find any settings.  I had copied config.xml from my Mint v5.1.0.201216 install anyway, and the OSD was working there.

I feel like this is something simple I missed, but after battling it for the last hour thought I'd see if anyone knows what I missed off the top of their heads.

Logs attached, at 16:50 I started playback of "88th Annual Christmas in Rockefeller Center", and once playback started I tried the Blue Button and some skips, none of which popped up the OSD.

Thanks,
-Brad

  Apple TV and IR remote
Posted by: dsreyn - 2020-12-30, 05:07 AM - Forum: NextPVR iOS and AppleTV Clients - Replies (3)

I'm trying to use NextPVR on the Apple TV with an infrared remote, and seem to be running into a couple of problems:

1. During playback, pressing the "select" button brings up the time bar on the bottom (and pauses playback), the same as a click on the trackpad on the stock Apple TV remote (the so-called "Siri remote").  However, with the IR remote, there does not seem to be any ability to move forward or backward in time - left and right button presses have no affect.

2. This one is less serious.  Pressing "select" a second time restarts playback - again, same as a trackpad click on the Siri remote.  However, the trackpad click also makes the time bar disappear, whereas the "select" press on the IR remote leaves the time bar visible.  So apparently a trackpad click (Siri remote) and a "select" (IR remote) aren't quite equivalent.

Also, I have a feature request that would probably apply to either type of remote (but might not be possible on the Siri remote - not sure).  Would it be possible to add some method of moving forward or backward by some fixed interval (perhaps 15 or 30 seconds, for example)?  Or is there already some way to do that?

  Jellyfin 10.7.0
Posted by: mvallevand - 2020-12-29, 10:39 PM - Forum: NextPVR Other Clients - Replies (17)

With a core changes in the Jellyfin nightly for live TV a few days ago  LiveTV from NextPVR started working.

I also identified some issues with their series handling and have found that if you disable "Play next episode automatically" and "Show next video info during playback" recordings

For those interested in testing the nightly you might be OK to let me know if there are any other problems with the addon itself.

Jellyfin developers don't consider any issues with NextPVR  blocking for release and won't look at it because NextPVR backend is not open source, so it is up to you guys to help test.

Edit: Good news though a developer crobibero took the time install NextPVR and find out what was broken with recordings and he create a server patch so if the PR gets approved things look much brighter.

Sad Settings in Version 5
Posted by: GWCowling323 - 2020-12-29, 03:56 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (5)

Installed latest version of NextPVR on a new desktop pc. Have some questions about default values and settings I used to use that I can't find anywhere in current version:
Is blocking shutdown while recording a default setting? If not, where do I set it?
Read that NextPVR defaults to skipping commercials while recording. Does that mean I can skip using ComSkip?
Used to use channel groups, i.e., Primary Channels, Movie Channels, and Documentary channels. Is there a way for me to do that?
Used to channels by Genre. Is there a way to do that?
Downloaded channel icons and selected "Name and Icon" in settings. Not seeing it.

Wink Audio Decoders

Just installed NextPVR on a new desktop PC. Is there a recommended set of Audio Decoders or will any one of them be fine?

  Alternate Pluto TV extra.
Posted by: mvallevand - 2020-12-28, 11:24 PM - Forum: Extras - Replies (2)

This update changes the logic slightly and automaps XMLTV and Schedules Direct specifically USA-PLUTOTV-DEFAULT

The instructions are the same original post but if you have "Schedules Direct [Pluto TV (USA-PLUTOTV-DEFAULT)]" group in your list of EPG Source all the channels that Pluto identify as known to TMS (source for SD) may be auto mapped if possible.

I say "may" because auto map doesn't match all of them.

EDIT updates are now maintained on the NextPVR wiki

  Blu-ray Disc via Samsung TV
Posted by: Roghat - 2020-12-28, 06:34 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

This is my preferred (and only) method of listening to my extensive CD collection.
I have not yet found a way to record to a USB or Laptop while the music plays.
Does NextPVR have this functionality?  Or does it only record normal TV?
