I'm upgrading from version 3 and have gone between version 4 and 5, leaning toward 5 because that is where active development is taking place. (Thanks Sub)
One issue is that with V5, when I try to import my 375 or so shows with the web interface, it says 'no shows imported'. There doesn't appear to be a means of import via the windows native app settings menu anymore.
Import worked fine with V4. In case of formatting compatibility, I then exported from V4 and tried to import to V5, still no dice.
The recordings are on a mapped drive, so I did a test. I removed all recordings from the xml file but one. Still no go, until I copy the one recording over to a local drive and change the path, then it works.
So the issue appears to be that V5 web interface can't import recordings from mapped drives currently (5.1.0.201216). Note this is on Microsoft Edge V 87.
Secondly,
I also cannot find any log generated relevant to this issue in the "NPVR-data\logs" folder. Due to the web interface nature of this version's settings? Are the web interface logs stored somewhere else?
Final, unrelated question, how can we choose the transcoding compression type (x264/5 for example)? I only saw a setting for bitrate.
Two questions:
1. Is there a way to get more than 6 hours worth of EPG xmltv data from Pluto or is that fixed by Pluto itself.
2. I have noticed that when a channel goes to a local commercial (message stating "they will be right back"), streaming stops. This happens on both the web client and on a kodi client. Is there a way around this?
1. I provide everything that is available. Right now the only way is via many EPG updates. I am hoping that sub will have some time to help me work out a way to do this in a better less disruptive manner without have to reload the full EPG. I envision a scheduled task that runs every 4 or 5 hours. I could update the database directly but that doesn't make it to Kodi as an update.
2. This was a a problem with all Pluto Movies before they seem to be better but I find some channels are worse than others especially music channels. I do find that when I record them I can play recordings which is what I have been new with MTV Spankin' New as an example so I am not sure if sub could introduce a change. Ultimately this should be fixed by streamlink and I suggest you report an issue on github. The recent PR that added pluto tv was supposed to identify this.
Hi. I am getting this error when trying to watch some channels live, and of course recordings also fail. When I first select the channel and choose 'watch', the status at the bottom of the screen says 'receiving data' and it counts up as if it's buffering and will eventually play, but then I get the 'Streaming Failed' message and the screen stays black. Any ideas? I searched the forum and only found one other thread on this topic, back in April, but it wasn't clear what the resolution was. Log files attached.
I was just experimenting and don't really need it myself. But auto transcode option just doesn't seem to work at the moment. I saw a previous post that explained that the MPEG2 should be transcoded to h264 and the ac3 to aac in a ts container. It just doesn't happen. Many hours later, a short recorded ts file still has MPEG2 and AC3 inside.
Just passing this on in case it would matter to you. Like I said, I don't really need it myself. I was using the CPU encoder. So it's not the problem with hardware encoders sometimes not working in a service.
I have been wanting to create a UI in the browser, with Apache, for all my video files which are in various formats. I have tried loading various video files in the browser but support for different formats is limited.
I have seen a suggestion to transcode(I know very little about transcoding) the files on the fly to a format that the browser can play. That got me wondering if I would be able to use the NextPVR transcoder/player to load these video files? Is there an entry point that I can pass vid.avi to?
Hi, Longtime user of the program. The one pain I've consistently had is the babysitting of OTA channel tuning updates and remapping these when they frequently change, and the playback loosing its place to seek around when watching live TV that isn't being 'recorded'.
Now, there's a new issue and I'm stumped: after rebooting my computer, the TV Guid can't find any of my channels guide information from the xml file from zap2xml. Looking at the problem in more detail, it looks like NPVR is only seeing the numeric display-names from the XML file, when it used to capture and display the first display-name for each channel.
I've searched the settings and can't find one which lets me specify whether it uses fir first or last display-name entry for each channel. Can anyone describe exactly how NPVR chooses which display-name to use, and how I can get deterministic control over this?
I've been fiddling with xmltv with and without FreeGuide, and it dawns on me that these are fairly old approaches that may have worked for DTV in North America, but I can't find an easy way to generate an xmltv file for use with NextPVR 5. Apart from embedded epg info, am I missing something, or is the only really viable alternative Schedule Direct? Thanks for putting me out of my indecision and ignorance.
