I recently started to use GBPVR after benchmarking a lot of PVR softwares in the market, got disappointed again and again, but I'll keep this one for sure.
I installed the musiclibrary2 plugin, and for the hebrew titles I get ??? instead of letters (altough GBPVR is localized and works fine). Any smart ideas?
I can't get standby or hibernate to work with gbpvr. When I go into standby via the gbpvr menu, the PC doesn't wake to record - it just stays in standby. I applied the standby patch per the v0.99.12 survival guide. Still won't work.
I'm wondering if it has something to do with my settings. I have not used standby before... I have tended to view it as trouble, but I would really like to use it with gbpvr because I'll have the PC on 24/7 and use it only 3 or 4 hours a day to watch/record. The PC is dedicated entirely to gbpvr.
I'm using an Asus P4B266 MB, and an Enermax 460W power supply. I'm not sure what to enable or disable. I have tried various settings and nothing seems to work, so I assume I have the wrong mix. My options in the BIOS are as follows:
--ACPI Suspend to RAM (I have it enabled)
--Power Up Control:
PCI Card (disabled... enabling it didn't fix it)
USB (disabled)
KB (disabled)
Mouse (disabled)
Automatic Power-Up (disabled)
--HDD Power Down (disabled)
--Power Management (disabled - other options involved # of minutes, etc.)
In XP I have hibernate checked.
What settings should I use? Are there any settings within gbpvr beyond the "wake" check-box to update the TV Guide? Are there other XP settings I'm missing? Any help would be appreciated.
I posted previously regarding high mem usage and have established that a standard fresh restarted GBPVR would utilize an average of 55MB or so usage as I stated in this thread http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...t=high+mem
However, would like to know why I sometimes get a unusually low mem usage whenever the MediaMVP server is reinstantiated when I put my MVP to sleep/standby. At these low levels, the MVP will not connect and I have no choice but to restart the GBPVR service or terminate the MVP server processes.
PS, One fix for the Server box popup is to have the GB-PVR Recording Service NOT interact with the desktop. Unfortunately, that's not an option if you are also using HIP, as it relies on the service interacting with the desktop.
this is not something I expect to be first priority, but it was a thought I had.
would it be possible to control GBPVR with a PDA??
maybe be able to scroll through available recordings??
hit "play" on the PDA and the show starts on the machine??
or maybe even weed out the unwanted shows on the PENDING list.
can connect through IR or bluetooth.
not something I expect to see anytime soon, but maybe someone here knows how to do plugins, and also has knowledge in making Palm apps??
All right Guys here is the first release of ZBack2Back. As any good programmer does, I will give the disclaimer first...
ZBack2Back works simply and quickly, and tries not to destroy anything, unless it's been told to clean up, and only at the end of the process. Please understand that you are taking a risk, but it's the same risk I am taking daily. It's been up and running for a week and a half for me, and the logs show when it was invoked, what operations it performed...
Install.
Create a directory 'C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\Third Party\ZBack2Back' Unzip the two files her into that directory...
Create a shortcut... start the program...
Click the 'more' button. Make sure that you have references to the GBPVR.db3 database, and the Mpgtx.exe program. It belongs to the Comclean Package, installed in the gbpvr directory... You won't need to MEncoder.exe just yet...
You'll notice that by default, 'Delete Temp files' is unchecked... I'm still a little nervous, and so even I don't have this on on my main pvr. But be warned if a program is 1.5 Gb in size, when your done with it, you have an extra temp file about the same size too...
Also adjust the number of seconds to pre and post pad a current file...
Install 2
Next you need to edit your PostProcessing.bat I have ZProcess deal with all my processing, but I haven't yet integrated ZBack2Back into ZProcess. Here are two examples of Post Processing.bat...
When every program is finished recording, it gets checked by ZBack2Back. First it loads it into the middle slot, and looks up in the database, what start and end times and what tuner it was recorded on...
Then it checks if there was show on the same tuner, preceding or following the current show...
If it finds any of a variety of test circumstances, it processes the file.

x minutes of the beginning of recording 2 has been glued to the end of recording 1 => Recording 1 has a "padding-end".
x minutes of the end of recording 1 has been glued to the beginning of recording 2 => Recoding 2 has a "padding beginning".
If there are no preceding or following recordings, it exits
And then, ZProcess or ComSkip or whatever can process the show like normal
It works well for me, but there is still about 1-2 seconds lost. This happened when GB-PVR stopped recording one show and started recording another...
Good luck. I will posting this post in the ZProcess Sub-forum and taking questions there...
I wouldn't mind having a settings to delete recordings after a certain time period. I already use the "keep certain # of recordings" feature a lot for season recordings...but something like this would be useful for one-time recordings and stuff.
My very latest version, 997 is available in my signature.
Here's what was added/fixed:
988 Added support for -qscale with FFmpeg
989 added support for SRT subtitles when using MEncoder
990 Tweak
991 adds support for vertically positioning subtitles with MEncoder
992 fixed no Object error when not using comskip in standalone...
993 built in checking for correct versions of support software
994 Continue version checking
995 Added Multiselect function to File list and Queue list
996 Added support for SRT subtitles when using VLC
997 Added switch to MEncoder profile to keep Transcodes in better sync. Fixed support for on the fly transcodes of Unencrypted VOBs
The thing I'm happiest with, is my transcodes are mostly sync error free when I use MEncoder as my Preferred Transcoder. skip ff/rw minutes skip all seem to work fine...
I still have some trouble with on-the-fly playback of Vobs. The sync slips a bit there... But it plays great...for on the fly VOB transcoding, make sure it is unencrypted and only one Audio language track. (That's all I could for right now) I used DVD Shrink to snag my main movie and only the main language.
i can't get the gb-pvr media mvp servers to work, not even the autostart ones. I've never had this happen before. Ive tried many things, even re-installing gb-pvr, please help
I have been successful with running GBPVR on one of my PCs. I built another PC and loaded GBPVR 99.12. I coped videos over and when I go to play some video content, it crashes GBPVR. I tried to change the video render and got mixed results, all crashing GBPVR. The videos play from Windows Media Player.
