I just switched to ATI Wonder 650, and with GB PVR everything just works awesome, the only the issue that when i start any recording the live tv just freezes and i can't watch any channel till stop the recording.
My problem is that with the hvr-1600, I can either get it to default to the astc tuner when I click watch a show but then it will record on the analog side by default even if I am not using the astc side at the moment. If I change the order of the capture source then it will record astc by default but will default on analog when I press watch a show. How can i get it to default to watch astc and default record astc if I a not using astc at that moment? Thanks.
Has anyone experienced the picture in Live TV turned out to be good but one or two channels (not all) recorded TV shows are badly distorted? Pls share your solution. Thanks.
Okay, I believe you can watch live tv while another channel is recording if you have dual tuners (dual built-in or two tuner cards?) but what about when you're burning a dvd? If you are using (outside) software to convert avi or mpg files into ifos/vobs (basically, into DVD format), can you still watch live tv without problems or choppiness if the computer is powerful enough? How powerful does the computer have to be? I was just curious about this although it's not a major deal but it would be nice to know.
Two monitors/lcd tvs, two pvr boxes (or computers) and 1 set top box. I don't care if they are both using the same channel but can you splice a s-video cord to two different computers (each having a tv tuner card and video card)? Or one can use s-video and 1 hdmi/dvi?
I want to compare various pvr systems but I am leaning towards gb-pvr anyway as it's free, Windows (easier and more familiar with) but I'd like to compare simultaneously. If I can't do this, I plan on suspending my usuage with mythtv or other Windows pvr software as I want to try Windows first and gb-pvr.
All this might even be ignorance in how it works so I might be able to answer my own question this way: perhaps, I need *two* set top boxes (digital cable box) and then it's easily routed each to a computer and the corresponding tuner/video cards? Perhaps, this is the only option to use simultaneously and to compare else it's choose one or the other to be used with the digital cable set top box?
Can anyone explain and help me confirm which scenario(s) I can use?
On my HTPC GB-PVR seems to be working just fine. However, on my MVP all the recordings have a running time of one second? What is strange is that on the HTPC the running times are accurate, 32 minutes or 62 minutes, etc.. With the MVP and using GB-PVR's front-end they are all displayed as one second. If you fast forward I get an object error and it goes back to the menu, otherwise it will just play until the end?
I have recently reinstalled my Nova-T 90003 card after lending it to someone so they can give it a try. Anyway, I resetup the card in config and have started having playback problems, all of which so far have been recordings from the card.
I have:
Hauppauge 250 Analogue connected to telewest box with IR Blaster
Hauppauge NOVA-T PCI card 90003
What I did to get the attached logs files
1. I cleared to logs directory
2. Ran GBPVR
3. Watched a video using xrecord - this played OK
4. Stopped and deleted the above video
5. Started playing another video - this is when the fault occurred
What is the playback problem:
I start the video playing and after a couple of seconds play it goes into "pause". Pressing buttons on the remote or keyboard then seem to advance or go back a few frames at a time. I dont seem to be able to get out of this mode without alt-f4, quitting gbpvr.
After I restart gbpvr the video mostly plays OK. If it doesnt I quit gbpvr and try again. The file plays OK in WinDVD.
So this weekend I decided to try to attempt setting up a client to my main living room HTPC. Both are running 99.12. Have all necessary decoders and have opened all necessary ports for Windows Firewall (no other software firewall running). At first i attempted running the client by streaming. I was able to connect and begin a recording playback, but after about 5 sec of playback, it crashed my server (the client stopped responding too, but system worked fine). I had to hard boot my server to get it back up and running. However it seemed to bonk my network controller and had to go through the process of reinstalling that.
I then attempted again with file sharing. all proper folders had sharing enabled and set in the config. I fired up the client and i could navigate GBPVR fine. However as soon as i started a recording, i got 2 sec of playback, then crash. I went downstairs to find that my server BSOD'd. Fatal error that appeared to be from a lack of available memory and was attemtping to dump. Again i had to hard boot to get up and running.
Ive attached my logs. I am getting through okay so i know it is not the network, but it is like the recording playback across the network just sucks my server memory dry.
