Whenever I try to "use" mdplugins, I get a GBPVR recording service crash. Let me explain a little more...
From the recording service log, I get:
2007-03-18 16:16:02.875 VERBOSE FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: MDAPI Filter
2007-03-18 16:16:02.875 INFO MDAPI Filter not found. Disabling MDAPI support.
Okay, so I figure I need to register mdapifilter.ax. So I register it.
When I try to record using it, though, I get the little icon in the task tray, but then DUC20.exe runs my processor to 100% (it appears that this is M$'s way of collecting info when there's a crash) and the recording services stop responding. It looks like it finds the MDAPI filter, though.
In the middle of watching a recorded show via MVP last night, the MVP suddenly showed the "Connecting to Server" screen. Checking the logs, I found that MVP-gbpvr.exe.log had rolled over, with the previous file ending with:
Code:

The MVP has restarted like this a few times recently, but always when I've been playing with the Music Library. This is the first time it's happened while simply viewing video.
I couldn't see any indication of a problem in any of the other logs (but I can upload them if it would help).
Is this likely a GBPVR issue, or a problem with the MVP causing GBPVR to hiccup?
Overall quality is decent but I've noticed with fast moving sporting events that the frame rates aren't there, it might be pushing out ~15 fps rather than the 25-30 fps needed for smooth playback to the eye.
Is there a setting in GBPVR I can tweak or do I have a hardware bottleneck? If it's hardware, what is it, the graphics card? I can't imagine it's the processor.
If I am going to install GB-PVR on a Windows 2003 Server (Athlon XP 3200+, 512MB, 40GB OS, RAID3 1.2TB storage, HDHomeRun), what are the minimum software requirements? I am only using GB-PVR for its PVR functionality. I will not be using it to view content (just recording). I will be viewing content on 2 network media players using different media server software (unless GB-PVR can do this). The players natively support MPEG and TS. I will more than likely use the EWA part of GB-PVR to set up recordings. The server will just sit with the recording service running. Besides installing and configuring GB-PVR, is there any additional hardware (video card, MPEG card) or software (do I need to install any codecs if I'm not viewing from the server?) that I will need to install to accomplish this?
I have been trying to use the Auto-conversion option but it never appeared to work but after looking through the logs I can see hundreds of entries like this which happens each time the conversion process tries to run.
18/03/2007 18:05:08.968 VERBOSE [13] RecordingFactory.loadScheduleRecordingByOID()

The database does not appear to be in use by anything other than the conversion process because the lock file only appeared when the process started.
I have used SQLiteSpy and can see all the entries but can't remove them. Is there any way to flush the Conversion queue??
Edit: oops help if I could spell, can't edit title of my post!
Just out of curiosity, I'd like to get a sampling of what settings most people use for their brightness/contrast etc... in the direct.ini file. I'm still toying with my settings to get the picture just right and wanted to see what worked best for others.
Can someone tell me why the screen saver kicks in after the first song is played?
I use the default music library plug-in, and select a folder of songs to play. It starts playing and the media player visualizations start in the lower left hand corner. After about a minute, the visualizations go full screen. Then when that songs ends, and the next song starts. Then it pops to the main menu for a few seconds then goes directly to the logo screen saver.
The music is still playing fine, but no visualizations. If you hit the menu key, the visualizations are in the main window.
Is there something I can do to make the visualizations stay full screen while the music is playing?
I've now found the mini-guide, actually there are two, and been able to work with it and right now I can only make it responsive by slowing emulation mode down by linking the media and osd screen threads together. What this means is I can get great response on the Go the green button guides but there is stuttering on medium to high bit rate files.
I have looked at the ethereal traces, and I really can't tell what I need to do to tell gbpvr to stop sending OSD updates. For the Hauppauge dongle they come every second probably based on a refresh command, with mvpmc I am getting 2 or 3 OSD updates per second ignoring the refresh command. After many hours I think I will need sub's help on this one.
I have encountered two problems the text for the guides, primarily the Go mini guide when an item is selected is not in the right place, it overlaps the buttons, and sometimes I have to open the real guide off the menu to get text in the Go mini guide.
If anyone wants to see this yet me know, I can replace the current alpha.
OK Sorry if this has been asked I just couldn't find it.
This seems very odd to me I have not noticed anything until recently with the fm tuner but basically what happens is every so often when I try to turn it on it shows as fm tuner not found.
Other times I goto it and it plays for like 10 minutes then shuts of and says tuner is not found. I really am lost as to why it shows it sometimes and other times it sees it as not there. Anyone have any ideas?
