  Recording fail error 404
Posted by: CDinger - 2020-12-21, 03:33 AM - Forum: Linux - Replies (4)

Failed to record Sunday Night Football, [Failed: The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.]
I'm worried my Hauppauge Quad-TV card is at fault. I can watch or record one channel only. See attached logs

  Can't connect to http://127.0.0.1:8866/ on Ubuntu 20.04
Posted by: crcrash - 2020-12-21, 12:46 AM - Forum: Linux - Replies (20)

Installed successfully (?) after a couple of attempts on Ubuntu 20.04, it says NextPVR server is running, but I am unable to open 127.0.0.1:8866.

Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at 127.0.0.1:8866.

  Transcoder settings- Best Practice ?
Posted by: klyneshouse - 2020-12-20, 08:12 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (11)

Being a recent convert from WMC, I appreciate the no nonsense setup, but there are a few things I am not understanding.
The transcoder settings were originally set to NVIDIA, as the back end has a GTX970 on a current Win10 installation.
Is there other things i am missing to properly use NVIDIA transcoding ? Is it even worthwhile ?

When ever trying to use the NextPVR player on PC's,Shield etc, i always got Streaming Failed (transcoder exited).
When set transcoding to CPU, all the NextPVR apps now play, (except ATSC 3.0 channels still get Streaming Failed (transcoder exited)).

Normal use is the NEXTPVR backend, RPI/Kodi frontends, with TV/Cable HDHR tuners, and has been quite reliable for months.
I am even able to watch (just not listen to AC-4 audio)  to ATSC 3.0.

Thanks in advance for any direction/ insight !

AppleTV 4k, a few questions, a few bugs?
Posted by: Mr Whippy - 2020-12-20, 12:11 PM - Forum: NextPVR iOS and AppleTV Clients - Replies (5)

I downloaded this last night, seems to work ok.

But I want to know if these behaviours are normal.

1. I load it up, it 'searches' for the server. It finds the IP address of my server. I click it and it loads ok.
Next time I load it up, it searches again, does it not remember?
I tried to manually input the server thinking that might hard-set the address, but that doesn't seem to work at all, it just bounces back to the search screen and lets me choose the auto-detected server or manually enter again (which again fails to work)

I don't understand why once I set the server address, or confirm it, it needs to ask every time.

Is something not working right at my end wrt the app saving the address, hence it asking each time?

2. There doesn't appear to be a search dialog, so finding programs to record/schedule is difficult. I tried holding buttons and all kinds of things but I didn't seem to be able to provoke a search menu to appear.
I notice people talking about search on iOS, and the web client has it, but not the AppleTV client?

3. I can provoke the inertial navigation (where you swipe and swipe again and it gets faster and faster and keeps going even after you life off) in the LiveTV channels screen, and if while watching live TV I swipe up/down to scan through the channels I can get the inertial navigation too.
But in the TV guide screen, the navigation has no inertia, it takes tens of seconds even using the downward movement and hold, to go from top to bottom of the channel list. Is inertial navigation missing from the TV guide screen, or am I just not getting how to access it?

4. Is there any way to invoke recording while watching Live TV?
Ie: I've been watching this program from the start, it looks good but I can't finish watching it for whatever reason. I would like to record it including the current time-buffer, and save it to recordings to watch again later.
Is that possible? This seems like a standard 'box' feature for freesat and freeview. Have I just not figured out how to do this either?

Bugs?

4. I was watching Channel 4 (UK) last night, just a bit of Forrest Gump while faffing with the controls and recording. The default audio was the audio description. I figured out you press and hold to get the menu to change the audio/subtitles.
- There is no indication which is the current setting.
- There is no way to go 'back' using the menu button once you get to the audio choices screen. You have to choose one.

Once you choose the correct audio stream everything is great. However I noticed if I paused and then skipped back in time to watch from earlier, it'd reset the audio to the description stream. If I then reset to normal great. But then if I skipped back fowards, it'd reset to the audio description stream.
I'm not sure if this was just that particular channel or film. I've tried it again today on another channel and film and it didn't seem to be happening but the audio description isn't always present to know for certain.
Going back to the "no indication" point above, you can't check which audio stream is being used to check if this is a widespread bug, or was just confined to what I was watching last night.

5. If you're watching a recording that hasn't finished/ended, it seems to break playback and jump out to the menu if you scan forward in time to ahead of the actual time the recording is at.
Surely the scan forward should be blocked to not let you skip ahead to ahead of real time?

Thanks

Cannot access Main Menu, also some channels freezing
Posted by: NickH - 2020-12-20, 11:56 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (15)

I ham having problems with the latest version freezing on some channels, so I decided to re-tune to check. Unfortunately I could not get to the Main Menu either by right clicking on the entry screen or by right-clicking on the Live TV screen. The menu option is there but it does nothing. Logs are attached.

For troubleshooting the freezing, is there anywhere I can see the signal strength or quality?

  NPVR.zip wont download from NPVRSetup.exe
Posted by: FraidyMan - 2020-12-19, 09:39 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (9)

In Firefox, I receive an" Error downloading " msg when connecting to https://nextpvr.com/stable/win64/NPVR.zip.
The msg says "Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel.  Clicking the OK button terminates everything.

In Chrome, the link to NPVRSetup.exe opens for a fraction of a second, then closes.

When I go to the download address in Firefox, I have the choice of opening the file with winzip, or saving the file.
I have saved it.

Is there a way to install it from my download directory?

Radio vs TV in Kodi add-on
Posted by: philled - 2020-12-19, 10:38 AM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (25)

If you use TVheadend as your backend it categorises channels as TV vs Radio. So when you use the PVR add-on in Kodi you go to TV to watch TV and Radio to listen to radio. This is a good thing. But I've noticed on NextPVR that there is no categorisation which means nothing appears under Radio in the Kodi PVR add-on, and under TV you get TV and radio.

is there a way of getting NextPVR to behave like TVheadend so radio can be categorised as radio rather than TV?

Tongue Run extras tuner batch file every time recording starts
Posted by: dlfergrd - 2020-12-18, 10:00 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (7)

Hello, First of all Thanks for a wonderful piece of software.

I have set up NextPVR on a windows 10 pc about a month ago.
I use an extras tv tuner to use a HDMI-USB capture device. The extras tuner runs the batch file to change the channel on my set top box when the recording starts and everything works great except for one thing.

I only have manual recordings entered as I do not have an epg set up yet.

For example, I record a program on channel 10 at 3 AM. Then later in the morning I turn on the tv and watch channel 15, changing the channel with the stb remote.
I then have a recording set for 1 PM on the same  channel as the recording for 3 AM.
The batch file for the extras tuner does not run at 1 PM to change the channel back to channel 10.

I have seen this in the logfiles that when there is a change of channels for recording, the batch file runs. If the second recording is on the same channel as the first recording the batch file does not run.
I see the logic in this as there is no need to change the channel when its already there as far as NextPVR is concerned. NextPVR can't know that I manually changed the channel.

I was wondering it there is a setting somewhere to force the running of the batch file for every recording.

  Problem starting latest version (5.1.0.201216)
Posted by: dsreyn - 2020-12-18, 08:53 PM - Forum: Docker amd64 - Replies (15)

Just downloaded the latest version, and went through my usual setup to run it in Docker.  However, the new container fails to launch, and the following error appears in the Docker log:

"OCI runtime create failed: container_linux.go:345: starting container process caused \"exec: \\\"dotnet\\\": executable file not found in $PATH\": unknown"

So it sounds like there a problem running Dotnet, but I've never had a problem with this with previous versions of NextPVR.  My previous NextPVR container still runs fine.  Do we need to install some additional stuff in Docker now?

Audio and Video stutter since 1214 update - On single channel
Posted by: HarryH3 - 2020-12-18, 04:07 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (7)

Perhaps this is just coincidence, but since doing the 1214 update, all recordings from CBS (even if recorded before or after the update) will not play back properly while using the NPVR client on the server PC.  It plays fine using VLC and also via Kodi from a different PC.  Recordings from other channels seem to play back just fine. I've uploaded the first few minutes one of the files to Dropbox.  Is there anything obviously wrong with the recording?    I don't get why only CBS would be affected, but I don't know how to examine the file to figure out what is going wrong.  I use the LAV decoders in NPVR.

The file is here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/i6649wo6og1kh0...le.ts?dl=0

Thanks for any insight!

Also attaching logs.  I played the file at 09:57 on 12/18/2020.  It seems that the stuttering gets worse the longer it plays.

EDIT:  Well, the logs didn't attach.  File size is 2.1 MB, too big perhaps?  Posted them here instead: https://www.dropbox.com/s/g7g9qjfl1lkzb7...0.zip?dl=0
