Hello,

I've decided to install V5 and run both V4 and V5 on my server after thinking about what I learned here from sub and Martin last week.  I've changed the port number on V5 to 8867 and both versions seem to be running OK.  One thing I can't figure out, though, is how to I define multiple recording directories in V5?  I have multiple directories defined in V4.  As I add hard drives, I simply add another directory for recorded TV and tell NextPVR to default to the recording location with the most space available.  I can't find a similar setting or option in V5.

I had another issue as well but I'll open another thread for it.

I  just installed NexPVR on a Beelink BT3 Pro with ATOM Z8530 , freq 1.4GHz but it has a boost mode at 1.9GHz
I always thought that NexPVR was less requesting HW resources than Win10 Films and TV player, Windows Media Player and VLC.
bUt when playing the same video with LAV decoder for audio it freeze by moment. Same video with all other players
played without any freeze on this  ATOM Z8530.

Was I wrong in my assumption about NextPVR less eager in HW  rsources ?

In response to multiple issues with NPVR, I uninstalled and the installed ver 5.09 (201026).  Solved the decoders (easier than last time - thank you!), but again have NAS issue.
It's been 3 years since I last posted; I've re-read them all and the following 3 are relevant to this topic:  2016-11-03. 2016-11-06 and 2017-01-19.  With the exception of editing config.xml, the solutions from '16/'17 aren't applicable.  I did not (yet) attempt to edit config.xml because the page to enter to path to my NAS for storing recordings allowed my doing so (again, easier than last time - thanks).  I entered:  \\wdmycloudex4100\NextPVR_TV-Recordings
BUT, when I try to record, nothing is saved and no recordings are found by NPVR (or in a directory search).
My most recent attempt was today (11-30-2020) at 1:18 PM on channel 38.5 WSBK.5
I have attached (via drag and drop) the log file.  (not clear if it's actually attached)

PS: Have been using Kodi+Plex for most of the past 2 years, but got frustrated with Kodi instability and, more recently, the limited functionality of the Plex player.  I want to resume using NPVR and have some catching up to do.  Any recommendations about how to take full advantage of it's functionality will also be most appreciated.  Thank you for your great product.  I have and will also resumed contributions.

Around 20:47 my wife was skipping ahead watching playback in knewc on the server PC of the Sunday Night NFL game which was still recording, and the server crashed.

Will the ability to configure Windows PCs as clients be added to v5? I currently have a server and 3 client PC's running v4. I watch live TV from clients and like being able to watch videos from my library and  resume where I left off from any room. I know I can do some of this from web interface, but hope to retain same abilities in new version

NextPVR failed to start recording "the game" today.  Granted we had a lot of recordings going but in theory we should have been fine.  Adapter 0 and 1 are the two tuners on my Hauppauge 2250, I also have a dual tuner HDHR we in theory we should be able to handle 4 recordings simultaneously.

There were 3 recording going before 12pm today and 4 scheduled for 12pm.  Three of those 4 were on the same channels recording before 12pm.  The recording on the "new" channel, my game, failed to start.  Based on the device-adapter1.log.1 file it appears the tuner was inactive prior to 12pm but then threw error "dvb_fe_set_parms failed" when it attempted to start.

I also noticed there were no log entries prior to 12pm, but it should have been 11:59am with the 1 minute pre-padding, so not sure what happened there.

The file was created in the NFL Football folder, but is 0 bytes.

So aside from not scheduling so many recordings around important things like football games, any thoughts?

I am testing out the Linux version on Ubuntu 20.04.01 LTS, and have an Nvidia GPU (GTX 1050) using the proprietary 450 driver, and I can't get transcoding to work.  I tried playing a live channel, as well as recording and playing back through Kodi.  I am viewing remotely (recording in my office, Kodi running at home).  I have tried a couple profiles.  I looked at the logs, and don't see any reference to FFMPEG.  I did a search for transcode, and found a 41 references, but they all appeared to be profile definitions.

Is there something special I need to enable in Linux to get transcoding working?  I have already set it to VAAPI.  I also tried CPU.   

Current (non working) setting on the transcoder settings page are:

Preferred Streaming Profile - 144p (set low so it is obvious if it was working...I also tried 1080p).
Avoid transcoding where possible... - unchecked
Video Encoder - VAAPI, also tried CPU
Recording Auto Transcode - Leave recordings in native format. (I also tried 144p just to see)

When I look at the Video stats in Kodi, it still shows that it is streaming MPEG2, not h.264 (which I would expect), and the quality is clearly not 144p.

Any ideas?

I just installed v5.  On v4, I used IRSS to allow my remote to control the windows client by sending Windows Messages to the Windows Class for the client.  This doesn't work for v5.  I look up the Windows Class with another tool and it says it is: WindowsForms10.Window.8.app.0.141b42a_r12_ad1.  If I use that value, the client doesn't respond.  If look at the available Classes using the IRSS tool, it doesn't list that class.  It has similar ones that have "Window.0" or "Window.20808" instead of "Window.8".  If I use either of those, I get an access is denied error.  There is nothing in the logs for the client because the messages are not getting to it.

Has anyone been able to use Windows Messages to control the v5 Windows Client?

I just installed v5.  For v4, I had "Start on second monitor" unselected & the client comes up on the TV & not the monitor.  For v5, regardless of selecting that setting or not, it always starts on the monitor except if I move Windows File Explorer to the TV and execute C:\Program Files\NextPVR\client\NextPVR.exe from there.  It does respect the full screen setting.  I don't see anything in the log that is relevant.
