This may not exactly be a problem for the majority of GBPVR users, still....
GBPVR v99.5 w/ ML2 5.4
I have a rather large classical music collection. It is quite cleanly tagged with id3 v3v2.3 (mp3tag v2.37a).
Some filenames (and tags) include german umlauts (ä, ö, ü). While the individual files/their respective tags can be browsed and played with either MusicPlayer or ML2, playlists containing these filenames with umlauts appear empty. The playlist itself shows up, but no files are loaded nor can they be played.
I have attached two sample playlists for information. The original playlists is one of those that does not work. The saved playlists is an export from ML2. It plays in ML2, but nowhere else. It is empty when loading it in mp3tag and it doesn't play in winamp because the umlauts in the filenames are corrupt.
Secondly. I have the " ' "-problem that has been described elsewhere, too.
I am having problems when I use the forward/rewind buttons on my remote. I'm not sure if I am doing something that I shouldn't or this is the expected behavior. I have a remote that came with a PVR150. I'm not sure what model, but it says RC6 on back.
The deal is, I can go forward/back if I hit the button a single time and I can do it several times. But when I hold the button, the way that I'm used to with other remotes, it starts to go forward and then gets stuck. It gets so stuck that I have to close GBPVR. Am I not supposed to hold the buttons or something? Seems strange to me.
I've seen posts about a timestamp issues, but I'm not sure if that is what I am experiencing. Has anyone else had the same problem?

I've been using gbpvr for about a year now so not a complete novice -- I'm just not a sophisticated user. I recently got fed up with my cable company jacking up the rates and downgraded to "limited cable". This means that zap2it is continuing to give me listings for specific channels that have now been blocked.
My confusion starts in config, where there are channel listings BOTH in the Capture Sources -> Edit Recording Source area AND in the Channels Tab. I looked on the wiki and on the forum and I get bits & pieces of the answers but not enough to truly understand the inter-relationship of these two sets of menus.
Questions about the Capture Sources -> Edit Recording Source:
a) When would you uncheck the "Enabled" box for a specific channel?
b) When would you highlight the channel and then hit the Remove button?
c) All my changes made here seem to get undone if I empty/reload the EPG... is this expected?
Questions about the Channels Tab:
a) When would you uncheck the "Favourites" box for a specific channel?
b) When would you hit the button "Remove unreferenced channels" and what is the effect?
After fumbling around trying different combinations, I was finally able to get what I was after... limiting the number of channels in the EPG to what my limited cable service is now offering.
A strange problem I've been experiencing since a reinstall. I can't schedule recurring recordings, either through the web interface or GBPVR itself. I've tried restarting the recording service, the computer, etc with no luck. A couple notes:
- Recording a single episode works (i.e. "record once")
- The program DOES show up under the "Recurring" tab, the individual episodes just don't get listed in "Pending"
- Through the web interface, I get a "Recording Failed!" message on a red background, but no further information.
- None of the files in logs/ seem to get updated when this happens (based on their timestamps).
Any ideas for how to go about resolving this? Thanks!
Edit: I should add, most of the reports of problems like this seem to be related to duplicate episode issues. I have that "Don't record duplicates" setting off, but also have no existing recordings that it could be matching.
I just happened to be sitting in the same room as my GBPVR server when I say an error dialog pop up. The recording service had crashed. GBPVR was streaming to an MVP at the time, but other than that the PC wasn't in use (other than whatever background things Windows does).
The system event viewer didn't seem to helpful, but had this to say:

I've also attached my logs. The one from today doesn't seem to have anything of use, but I also noticed yesterday that the recording service had dies, and that log seems to have something more interesting.
I have a five year old Dell computer. I've upgraded the memory, video card and added a second 160g hard drive for my videos about a year ago. Though it still works very well, I know I'm on borrowed time for the C drive. Plus, I only have 20% of the 40g C drive left. I'd like to hold on to it for another year or two. I'd like to back up the entire C drive onto the second drive using the Windows backup utility, and replace the C with a new 200g HD ($40 for a Maxtor AR at Staples this week). Then restore the backup to the new drive.
Will this work, or will I have to reinstall all of the program files?
Hey all, I'm wondering is there a way to set GBPVR up to just go to what's being recorded right now when I click on Live TV and something is being recorded. Right now it'll come up and give me an option to not watch or to watch the program that's being recorded but it starts all the way back at the beginning of the recording. I'd like to get to the live part of the recording or at least a few seconds back.
As best I can tell, the app works ok, but has a couple of problems have been noticed that may be ubustream related.
the 'playschool40' scrape is no longer available at abc.net.au, however, it picks up duplicate information from the 'healthmatters' scrape. If all the sections are selected as groups in ubuconfig, Ubustream2 seems to get confused, and the 'healthmatters' sections (and after) point to the incorrect URL's in GBPVR. My solution is not to select playschool40 for grouping in ubuconfig. (Interestingly, the playschool site seems to have been changed/removed only in the last 96 hours. Maybe ABC will fix their web page shortly)
I haven't found the ability to list the playlist within a group in a non-alphabetical order. I want to do this to preserve the playlist order of the scrape, since the order of the playlist is sometimes important for continuity. My solution was to insert a playlist number to preserve the ordering. This will fail to work properly if there are more than 99 items in the playlist (unlikely). An 'order by' option in ubuconfig for the group would be nice to enable a 'natural' order (as scraped) or 'alphabetical'
I tried to add the duration of the clip to the title description, but this caused ubustream to crash as below.

In the interim, I think the app is fairly robust, but consider it beta! Enjoy
As with all DynSource apps, extract the attachment into the ../plugins/ubstream/Dynsource subfolder, run ubuconfig and select the sections you want to scrape (But do not include playschool40 for reasons mentioned above).
