  Difficulty in Changing Channels
Posted by: jaydub222 - 2020-12-04, 11:38 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (2)

My setup is:
Win10
Colossus II tuner
Hauppauge IRblaster applet
Hauppauge WinTV v10
Schedules Direct for EPG
DirecTV for tuner
NextPVR 5.0.9

I'm currently using WinTV.  I downloaded NextPVR to try something different; I have it pretty much set up and TV Guide is fully populated with listings.  However, I'm unable to change channels, from either TV Guide or by right clicking the mouse and bringing up "Channels'.  When I select a channel, no pulses are seen coming from the IR emitter.  Hauppage's IRblast applet is installed and the blaster is properly connected to Colossus and the STB, and channel changing works fine in WinTV.  Is there something special I need to do to get the blaster to work in NextPVR?

Huh

  knewc 2.9.1 Update
Posted by: mvallevand - 2020-12-03, 06:23 PM - Forum: X-NEWA - Replies (22)

I have uploaded a new version to the knewc NextPVR repo on github, I decided to skip the beta stage let's see if that is a good idea or not.

Global changes

- Increased session security handling in case of server reboots.  Will be needed with future versions of NextPVR

UI Client

- Logic change to (hopefully) solve issues with users that use the Back key to stop video.

  NextPVR repository
Posted by: VCR58 - 2020-12-03, 01:08 PM - Forum: Linux - Replies (3)

Currently NextPVR for Linux can installed using the .deb installer witch is super easy. I was wondering though if NextPVR will be added to some repository so that it could be installed and maintained via a package manager that comes with many Linux distros?

For example https://www.deb-multimedia.org repository has Kodi 18.9 and kodi.pvr.nextpvr, mythtv-backend, etc. listed and can be installed or removed via the package manager in my distro (MX-Linux). Jellyfin and Emby have their own repository so the repo URL is easily added with a script or even the package manager (like Synaptic Package Manager).

Thanks.

EPG loading fails when adding device
Posted by: SteveDC - 2020-12-03, 05:48 AM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (16)

I have just started using a new IPTV provider and I am having trouble loading the m3u/EPG source as a device.

If I just add the m3u file without the (optional) EPG xml link then the channels import fine but obviously with no EPG data.

If I delete the device and add again but also include my EPG credentials then I see a LOT of internet activity start and download something for about 1 minute, then I get an error message displayed something like the following...

Unable to read http://**********/.../xmltv.php?.... [IZZ/rsr6Q3TlSx/8Xmk9NG0UDhUr+uK8Ayt+4D0zoanbnUZXoUXm541d0PNHnUXCXJo+C+QPA9N+fZxtmhFSfDS9yjB946A41NvfIlUHRdFXD2+C53PCZEXftSPPx0nxQhQx/jor87y/v8YYO81lLG8FKcw2kRaiagHRJGKPoAq4+1jDdeserF3WRsqq5fYRBMK/b4DVMlzFGwtoU0AoNBKg6S8T9qY+mAsecuyiv9vr79YfjBGy2EiAAFVwAdb6Vq9UmaIG6Jr6Nr2XLZOhGcySVi+jmk/vAHKkjUbXuQHxEavVk4Gw3X+PzkWEPCDcGkksZffM7LgF+7+/7vNuBpuHJwl1HTGyDDq4Tc9YZn2t3FkUEyg0LolJ0gAKoBpXhv2Z1LJUpoVpZ38Ve3MYwxKuyEqV87Znm6Cs87wJMZ0/gtATci2WbGTFVXBqOf1lTFb3ssJBeeqhxfKjjDJPEw==] (Unexpected end of file has occurred. The following elements are not closed: desc, programme, tv. Line 5149, position 3909556.)

The exact nature of the error changes each time and the line number/position also changes.

The exact same m3u and EPG links work fine in Emby. (I can't check with Jellyfin since it seems to be completely broken at the moment and won't delete/remove old channels/EPG data!!!)

If I try to add the EPG provider after adding the device m3u then click update EPG nothing seems to happen and no EPG data gets loaded.

Is there a timeout getting triggered when trying to download the EPG data?

Thoughts?

Regards,
Steve

Understanding how EPG update works for merged DVB-T and DVB-S channels
Posted by: zer - 2020-12-02, 09:28 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (3)

I'm in the UK and have both DVB-T (Freeview) and DVB-S (Freesat) tuners.  DVB-T EPG update works pretty well but DVB-S is flaky...

When I first scanned for channels on the DVB-S tuner and did an EPG update, only the currently showing and next programs were populated.  I had to manually set all the channels EPG source "Freesat (UK)", after which I got a full set of guide data for 7 days for most if not all of the channels.

Shortly after this and also setting up the DVB-T channels, I used auto-merge such that most of my channels now have both a DVB-T and DVB-S source.  At some point since then, I've noticed that most of the channels that are only available on DVB-S are no longer getting any guide data.

For the merged channels, its not really clear which tuner is now being used to obtain the EPG data - in the web UI channel settings shows most of the channels with their DVB-S (Freesat) info but I don't believe DVB-S is actually being used - I split one of the channels and found DVB-S one didn't have any guide data even after a subsequent EPG update.  Also in the database it appears that only one epg_source and epg_mapping column value is retained when merging (CHANNEL table), the original values aren't restored if you later split the channel.

I would like to understand the following (maybe it is documented somewhere?):

  1. For DVB-S channels, what's the difference in selecting 'DVB/ATSC EPG' vs 'Freesat (UK)'?  How is the EPG data obtained?
  2. For merged DVB-T and DVB-S channels which capture source is used for the EPG update?  Both?  Arbitrary?  The one specified in the epg columns of CHANNEL?
  3. If I split a merged channel should I not expect EPG data to work on all sources of the channel?
  4. Is the value of epg_mapping in the DB relevant or important at all?  I have some DVB-S only channels that have EPG data even with nothing in this column, others that don't have EPG data with something in that column, etc...
Any and all information welcomed, just like to understand how it all works in the hope I can fix the channels with no guide data without having to "start over" with re-tuning!

HDHomeRun Quattro and no EPG Freeview UK
Posted by: oliroe - 2020-12-02, 03:10 PM - Forum: Docker amd64 - Replies (11)

Hi

I was wondering whether you could help me with my last bit of setup. I'm using the following

HDHomerun Quattro
Synology DS918+
Docker version 5.0.9.201026

I've used the same set up in TVHeadend and was able to download both TV channels and full EPG

The tuners are detected and I can scan and watch all the channels, my only problem is I can't download OTA EPG. I've seen a few threads about scanning channels for 6 seconds and moving onto the next but I've yet to see a solution.
I've attached the verbose logs that were downloaded straight after an unsuccessful EPG update

Hoping you can help

Thanks

PS. Any idea why I can't add attachments? I upload them and see a grey tick and cross but when i update the post they don't attach
