I continue to test Kodi+NextPVR as a replacement for WMC. I open this thread because I find that the look of the record screen list is really poor. Here is the sreen copy :
I downloaded NextPVR V5 and I'm trying to set it up. When I go into "Devices & Channels", I get a screen that asks me to login. I've tried logging in with my password and ID for github and NextPVR forum, but it says those are the wrong credentials. What credentials do work? I don't see a login page anywhere on the NextPVR site proper.
I installed the Android client on my Google Chromecast with Google TV but seem to be having issue with navigating.
It seems that I don't always get a cursor when selecting things like recent recordings and pick a video so I cannot seem to click the watch buttom.
In all Recordings I was able to select and watch a video but after I clicked right to skip ahead, I was unable to get the video to start playing again.
Obviously the minimal buttons on the remote are an issue.
I was using Kodi to play the recordings from its video menu but that does not mark them as seen or remember where I was in case I try to finish watching on another TV. I am having trouble getting XNEWA to work on it because I cannot seem to figure out how to SSH into it to set up the advancedsettings xml to substitute the paths like I did on my Firesticks that Run Kodi/XNEWA.
I am going to see if can get a bluetooth Keyboard remote working to see if that helps.
Has anyone else tried using the app on this device?
Here's my use case. I have an HD-PVR2 with NextPVR 5. Works great, can stream video, set recordings, etc. Thank you.
Here's what I'd now like to do. I have a pile of historical recordings on my cable box/DVR (same one tied to HD-PVR2), and I'd like to use NextPVR to transfer them into video files.
Basically I want to manually navigate my DVR with my remote, hit play, and have NextPVR start capturing that video for a defined period of time. And then to set metadata and have it saved into the video file in the same format as if NextPVR recorded it live.
Is this possible? Only asking as I wasn't able to find a way to do this. Thank you.
I store a combination of music (mp3 and wav) and music videos (mp4 and wmv) on my NAS. I can see the music files, but not the video files, particularly wmv. Can NPVR be configured to include these files on the list when I select "MUSIC?"
I also cannot find any controls, e.g., pause, stop, next, on the screen while the music (mp3) is playing. Right click, pause and stop, have no effect. I stop the music by exiting from NPVR.
I found some postings on related topics, but they are from 2008 (e.g., "Playlist (m3u) Support for Videos") and 2011 (e.g., "What music player is used? Sub response: When you playback on a PC it uses directshow"). Task manager doesn't show any separate app playing the music.
What is the music player in v5 and how do I control it?
Thank you for any recommendation(s) that point me in the right direction

As I've tried to get V5 running, I've had a couple issues. This one is regarding channel icons. I've entered my Schedules Direct login credentials and clicked to button to download channel icons. I get a message that NextPVR is downloading them and they'll be visible in the TV Guide in a few minutes, but I may have to refresh the page. I've done that and no channel icons appear.
I've decided to install V5 and run both V4 and V5 on my server after thinking about what I learned here from sub and Martin last week. I've changed the port number on V5 to 8867 and both versions seem to be running OK. One thing I can't figure out, though, is how to I define multiple recording directories in V5? I have multiple directories defined in V4. As I add hard drives, I simply add another directory for recorded TV and tell NextPVR to default to the recording location with the most space available. I can't find a similar setting or option in V5.
I had another issue as well but I'll open another thread for it.
I just installed NexPVR on a Beelink BT3 Pro with ATOM Z8530 , freq 1.4GHz but it has a boost mode at 1.9GHz
I always thought that NexPVR was less requesting HW resources than Win10 Films and TV player, Windows Media Player and VLC.
bUt when playing the same video with LAV decoder for audio it freeze by moment. Same video with all other players
played without any freeze on this ATOM Z8530.
Was I wrong in my assumption about NextPVR less eager in HW rsources ?
In response to multiple issues with NPVR, I uninstalled and the installed ver 5.09 (201026). Solved the decoders (easier than last time - thank you!), but again have NAS issue.
It's been 3 years since I last posted; I've re-read them all and the following 3 are relevant to this topic: 2016-11-03. 2016-11-06 and 2017-01-19. With the exception of editing config.xml, the solutions from '16/'17 aren't applicable. I did not (yet) attempt to edit config.xml because the page to enter to path to my NAS for storing recordings allowed my doing so (again, easier than last time - thanks). I entered: \\wdmycloudex4100\NextPVR_TV-Recordings
BUT, when I try to record, nothing is saved and no recordings are found by NPVR (or in a directory search).
My most recent attempt was today (11-30-2020) at 1:18 PM on channel 38.5 WSBK.5
I have attached (via drag and drop) the log file. (not clear if it's actually attached)
Thank you for any and all support.

PS: Have been using Kodi+Plex for most of the past 2 years, but got frustrated with Kodi instability and, more recently, the limited functionality of the Plex player. I want to resume using NPVR and have some catching up to do. Any recommendations about how to take full advantage of it's functionality will also be most appreciated. Thank you for your great product. I have and will also resumed contributions.
