I have also purchased both Fox E and Fox W channels but on my channel lineup the only one that shows up is the Fox W....I had to manually add Fox E and it still doesn't show up in order...
Anyone else have/had this problem and how did you fix it?
So I took the leap today and tried out the Amazon Unbox download service. I like the selection and the prices are decent. Obviously it would be better not to have DRMed WMV format, but all in all I like it.
EXCEPT...
I tried to configure the My Programs plugin to launch the viewer program, and it works. But it doesn't seem to respond to my Hauppauge remote. I can launch Project64, zSNES and other programs this way, and can control them with the remote so I don't view this as a bug or config problem in GB-PVR or the IR Remote software.
Has anyone does this successfully? Or does anyone have some pointers for making this work?
I've looked and probably looking for the wrong thing but...
If I record a show when I go to play it back I have to turn the TV volume up considerably to be able to hear it. Is this a filter problem? Or do I have something set wrong?
I'm using the Mpeg Audio Decoder... should I change it to something else?
Running 99.5. I have 2 client machines that connect to my gbpvr backend server. Both are having troubles with livetv playback. It starts out ok, and then the audio and video gets choppy after about 5 seconds. My network is fully gigE for all machines. I have tried different Video Decoders like Nero, Dscaler, and Cyberlink, but all have the same results on both machines. I tried changing the LiveTV preplay to 4000 as listed on a different post to no avail. I do not think speed of the clients is the problem as 1 is a P 2.4 with 1 gig of ram and the other is a Dual core 3.4 with 2 gigs of ram.
If I have the clients set to Streaming, I do not get any picture back live tv, but I do get it back on File Sharing. I am able to watch any recordings with no problems and can see the upcoming recordings and the guide. I attached the log files of one of the client machines if that might lead a clue on the problem.
Forgot to note that pre 99.5, both machines could stream live tv fine.
I have done some forum searching and it sounds like some have had success with streaming over wirelessG. I thought i would pose this question to hear how/if people have had success with streaming over wireless g. I would love to be able to stream livetv (HD OTA) to a laptop wirelessly so that the tuner did not have to travel around the house with the laptop (or should I say the wife would like it ). I have a server setup that has been doing a good job recording for me and streams recorded video fine to my client wirelessly, but not livetv. In streaming livetv I have tried the following muxes with these results:
Microsoft dvr-ms: used file sharing, got "ERROR: failure playing back file", sub think this might be a drm issue
Cyberlink: used streaming, very choppy
ATI MPEG mux: used streaming, choppy...this was my best result but still not watchable
Intervideo: I don't have this mux installed.
SS: used streaming, very very choppy, what is SS?
TS mux: installed the hdtvpump, used streaming, worked on a different client (wired) but not on my wireless client.
Transport Stream: used streaming, caused the client to hicup back to the main gbpvr screen
One other question...when i pause during the livetv stream, and then play again, i get a few seconds of clean playback and then the choppiness begins again. The short period of time does not seem to correlate to how long I have paused.
One other note...I have tried the EWA plugin, and though it is nice, I would prefer to stream without it (it appears like it is designed with the intention of streaming over internet and not high quality over ethernet) and hopefully get HD over wirelessG.
Any success stories would be great to hear with details on how you were successful.
As an introduction, the purpose of this forum is to discuss the use of the mvpmc project's dongle.bin as a GB-PVR client. More specifically I would like to see discussion's of the mvpmc option I call "Emulation Mode" as an alternate to the standard Hauppauge client in their dongle.bin.
I originally added this function as a "proof of concept" but I decided to expand on it when I found I was able to do things mvpmc couldn't do thanks the power of GB-PVR. There are also things I feel mvpmc does better, at least for me, so there was a logical fit. I will open a separate thread on how to install mvpmc to gather feedback but it is quite simple.
I have now got emulation mode working to the point where it is useful but still not as stable as the Hauppauge client, but I don't see any reason it can't be equally or more stable. The mvpmc team probably know the hardware as well as Hauppauge does and I just need to understand a few things better then I do now in order to fix the stability issues. I will looking into getting some help from GB-PVR users in reaching this goal and looking for serious feedback and critique. Don't be kind.
Because of stability I have been reluctant promoting mvpmc or emulation mode, other then highlighting possibilities, but recent discussions on the future direction of mvpmc make it clear that GB-PVR users could benefit if this development continues. Jon Gettler, the project lead has said that the focus of mvpmc will be shifting to make the architecture open enough to run on other platforms, possibly game consoles and mini-ITX devices , but we still want to focus on embedded linux devices. With these new devices offering HD video, and more native a/v protocols, I am very hopeful. I have the same faith in Jon as I do in sub, in being able to deliver amazing things.
I expect there will be other discussions on when to use mvpmc's native capabilities instead of GB-PVR's, but it is not a contest and I want to see pros and cons discussions and not "fanboy" responses. If any of you read avsforum when different products are compared you will know what I mean.
I will be particularly interested in where GB-PVR users want to go, especially with your option of using the GBPVR client. Clearly I do not see a need to discuss anything about MythTV here, and I couldn't help you anyway because I don't use it.
Finally the mvpmc project does have its own web site and wiki respectively at
Because the history of mvpmc has typically been aimed at Linux and MythTV users, some of you may find these hard to follow. I actually gave up trying to load the mvpmc dongle on several occasions, so if you get lost come back here.
I tried installing the latest version and get an error whenever I shut down gbpvr. After looking at the event viewer - it looks to be something with the .net 2.0 framework: (see attached .bmp)
Here is the error message from the gbpvr.log:

I uninstalled and reinstalled .net 2.0 and and still get the same error....
I've been trying to setup GBPVR with a Hauppauge PVR 150MCE card and dishtv. I've never setup GBPVR with anything other than cable tv so I'm not sure if I'm hooking everything up right. I put the coax cable from the satellite to the input on the dish receiver. Then I sent a tv out coax cable from the back of the dish receiver to my PVR 150MCE card. For some reason it won't detect any channels this way. But when I remove the coax cable from the PVR150MCE card and plug it directly into the tv, the channels come up on the tv just fine.
So I tried connecting the dish receiver to my PVR 150MCE card with RCA cables (yellow, white, and red) instead of using the coax cable. It detects the channels that way, but when I try to change channels, the description changes but the actual channel doesn't change. So I don't know how to synchronize the GBPVR channel changer with the dish receiver so it will change the channels properly.
I figured there would be some other people on this forum with security cameras in addition to their PVRs.
I'm looking for some suggestions and your thoughts on software you've tried.
I've tried Informant, LuxRiot, and Argus so far with dismal results. I have read about the following, but haven't tried them yet for various reasons. Digivue and Milestone.
I'm only trying to get basic functionality with one camera sans PTZ. If I can get the input to even show then other issues pop up with frame rates and difficulties recording.
I like the look of Argus and it seemed promising but I can't preview the camera even with a thumbnail showing and can't record either. The frustrating part is that support is totally lacking w/o even a forum for users to help each other. As if I'm going to send them a request that will likely not even be replied to.
I don't know how these dudes expect to actually get paid for their software if it's so damn hard to set up and they don't want to make support easy.
