My system is mostly finished and I now need to purchase a second card. Currently, I have a Hauppauge 350 that I got a very good deal on... free. I have a 16:9 television and I've read many posts about the 150 defaulting to 4:3 aspect when recording. I'd rather not have to change the aspect ratio when playing back recording.... or have the annoying black columns on the sides.
I currently run Windows XP pro (non-MCE) with a PVR 150 and a PVR 500 MCE. The 500 is using the 150 drivers as I understand.
I am thinking about getting a PVR USB2, since I dont have any free PCI slots available. I emailed Hauppauge a week ago with a few questions, and still have had no reply.
I also have a few curiousities for GBPVR's handing of the USB version.
#1. Does the PVR USB2 MCE use the 150 drivers?
#2. Might it conflict with a 150 and 500 installed?
#3. Will it run on a non-MCE windows machine?
#4. Does it receive as well as the 150? (my 500 tunes noticably worse the the 150)
As for GBPVR... I'm mostly curious about how it handles plug-and-play.
#5. If the PVR USB2 turned on or plugged in AFTER GBPVR recording service starts, will it use the PVR USB2?
#6. If the PVR USB2 is unplugged or loses power AFTER the recording service starts, will GBPVR realize and adjust for the missing tuner?
And generally...
#7. Is there any hardware advantage to purchasing the MCE version over the non-MCE version? It looks like the non-MCE comes with the same remote I have x2 from purchasing my PVR 150 and MVP.
I can guess at the answers to most these questions, but I'm afraid to guess and have to deal with making a return...
Looking to add one to my system. I am not sure to go with the hdhomerun, the Dvico FusionHDTV-RT 5 Lite ATSC/QAM PCI Card, AirStar-HD5000AV-PCI ATSC/8VSB HDTV PCI Card or if something else is the favorite, please do let me know. Just got HDTV for the superbowl and would like to add this feature.
I don't get time to watch movies much but now that the rugby's started again I can confirm what I thought was intially a once off.
On longer recordings of around 2 hrs, for approx. the last 1/2hr the audio starts to becomt terrible. It's still audible, just very poor quality. I don't think it's out of sync (difficult to tell in a rugby match) but 2hr movies seemed OK sync wise, it's just the recording quality cracking up badly.
It used to be OK on the previous version. Could this be related to ffmepg / comskip (I have comskip run post recording) or is there perhaps a higher network / CPU demand with 99.5?
I'm keen to troubleshoot it by turning off / on stuff or replacing ffmpeg (is the old version still available?). I use the MVP exclusively so I don't know if it happens on the PC.
I had to "rescue" my winxp install for reasons unrelated to gbpvr, and now every time I start gbpvr (config or main app), it starts the install process. I've rebooted a number of times and have upgraded to the most recent version (v0.99.5).
Is there a way I can clean this thing up so it won't keep running the install process?
I can only hear 2/0 output through my SPDIF output.
but, when i play through zoom player its ok and i get complete 5/1
I checked the option at AC3Filter to show tray icon when running.
in ZOOMPLAYER i can see the icon in GBPVR i cant.
So i means that it probebly uses the FFDSHOW filter or another one.
So i ran configuration and set AC3FILTER as defauly sound playback.
Still the same thing exactly.
what to do?
with FFDshow i cant get Ac3 output and i realy want to use AC3Filter.
I guess it's physically impossible or maybe physically possible, but not in the dongle - but on quite a few occasions I'd love the ability to turn off MVP's from the shack rather than all the way down and back up in the middle of the night. (turn off into standby, not right off)
I suspect (but aren't sure) that the constant chattering between server and MVP is one of the reasons my system doesn't always go into standby/hibernate??
At the moment I pull the UTP cable to the downstairs switch out of the upstairs router (and forget to plug to back in).
Hi,
Im trying to configure the GBPVR software via the configuration tool.
I have installed new drivers for my 2 cards (HVR-1300 and PVR-150MCE), and they are actually working within windows.
I configure the HVR-1300 analogue as device 1 and the HVR-1300 digital also as device 1. PVR150MCE can not be recognized as device 2, or any other device.
The HVR-1300 digital is working fine, and I can tune the 1300 analogue using the tuning assistant (but no picture when trying to see the channel inside GBPVR). The PVR150MCE card is not working at all inside GBPVR.
