I have been attempting to setup BEV with GB-PVR using a Twinhan 102g and MDAPI. I have successfully scanned channels, and and can successfully view all SDTV channels with no problems. However, when I attempt to watch an HDTV channel, the picture is perfectly fine but the sound goes awry. Basically no sound, with the odd loud blip and chirp. I have attempted all combinations of the vidoe/audio and audio renderer settings, to no avail.
I currently can successfully watch HDTV in myTheatre v3.37 using the nVidia video decoder in combination with the Cyberlink audio decoder. I can also use other various combinations of different decoders, with no problems.
I have looked through the forum for something that might help, but no luck so far.
Any suggestions? I would really love to get this working, as GB-PVR is much better than MT.
Setup:
Intel Pentium D 805 2.6Ghz Dual Core
1 GB RAM
250 GB SATA
nVidia 7900 GT 256MB
OnBoard Realtek AC'97 sound using both Direct and Coax SPDIF out
Twinhan 102g
GB-PVR 0.99.5
I have a Hauppauge MediaMVP and am using the GB-PVR to access my library of divx movies. However, when I use the Fast Forward (FF) button on my remote 9/10 the film will stall. Although the software doesn't crash (I am able to exit and play another film).
Another possibly related issue is that if I pause a divx movie for any time when I come back to restart it from where I left off the sound is out of sync.
I love this skin - it's a million times better than anything shipped by Hauppauge and anything I've seen elsewhere, however, these two issues are really annoying for me.
Kind regards,
Will
PS - I have just downloaded the latest beta software and the problem still exists with that.
PPS - This problem doesn't occurr with the default software shipped with the Hauppauge MediaMVP
Using ZProcess as ZProcess.exe, not ffmpeg.exe
For GB-PVR 98.x and up only
As I move towards the end of calling ZProcess 'ffmpeg.exe' I have added a button that will straighten out pathing. BUT you must have ZProcess must be located in the GB-PVR Third Party folder.
I have my files in the Third Party\ZProcess folder...
This button will also make sure that the entries are correct in GB-PVR's config.xml.
To get to it, click the Utilities tab, then GB-PVR Settings button, and then find the 'Check ZProcess.exe' button

It will first check to see if you're still using ZProcess but with a filename of ffmpeg.exe and then confirm there isn't the error where Zprocess and the real ffmpeg.exe would be dualing... (yeah, that's why I'm getting away from ZProcess as ffmpeg)
But if you have started to use ZProcess as ZProcess.exe then the function will continue on, and install itself correctly into GB-PVR's config.xml so that it will function with Manual Transcoding and on-th-fly MVP transcodes correctly.
Optionally, you can add YouTube support, to have ZProcess work with the new YouTube plugin from GB-PVR 99.5
Modified the defaults for DVD and VCD presets...
Previously by default, the Trans2MVP profile would use the NTSC-VCD default, (I understand PAL works just fine)... But left untouched this preset did not work. I had users select the NTSC-DVD preset and it seemed to do the trick...
Anyone trying out the new presets and defaults should select the Profile, (Trans2MVP or 2MPG) and hit 'reset'. Remember to click Save...
Also, if you notice, when you use the defaults, many of the 'more' textboxes are clear. But if you select MEncoder as your preferred Transcoder, the text boxes fill. That's by desgin.
Getting Video File Dimensions...
Along with modifying the logging so I can see what was going up, I changed the way ZProcess asks a video file for dimensions.
AVI files use the tried and true API that I have been using from the beginning.
WMV and MPG will use the newer technique of subbing out to Mencoder's mplayer to find the dimensions...
Anything else, (at the moment), ZProcess will not even try...
But when ZProcess calls mplayer, there seems to be some sluggishness and so I have built in a variable pause timer. Throughtout the Getinfo process, there are fraction of second pauses, waiting for something to finish. I believe that some of the errors people have been having are resulting from the procses not finishing before something else fires.
If you'd like to try, there's a combo box below the Preferred Transcoder Combo. The values in the list are 0.1 to 0.5. That's 'of a second'...
Each attempt to get file info uses three to four of those pauses, and the function tries three times before it gives up.
If you set it to 0.5, then that would be about a 6 second wait for ZProcess to regain control from checking File Dimensions... (I don't like this approach but it's there if you want to try...)

The Registry dump file is now saved in the Backup folder, right next to the ZProcess.log
enough said. It makes it easier to send me both logs. if you have trouble, please send them both...
As always, thank you so much for your patience. I look forward to hearing that I have solved your errors, but will gladly look further if I haven't..
When I use the normal 9 mode, everything is fine. I am trying to use the Live preview mode so I can watch video from a Gamecube without time-shifting. On all tv channels I have no video - also the OSD disappears. i have channel audio however.
I have tried all of the various MPEG decoders and options for deinterlace. Outside of that, product works great!
You can't use ~ (tilde) in pathnames for Directories. (I use them force some folders to the top of the sort order. eg: c:\~pics and c:\~music)
GBPVR uses the ~ character as a separator, and so crashes the program.
If you have already entered a directory with a tilde, you may have to edit the config.xml file. Recommend just removing the offending line so you can at least run the config.exe again.
In most cases all my recording look ok, but lately there are some very weird looking MPEG2 recording.
I use Theater 550 pro with both driver from ATI (AVIVO and those from Theater 550 Pro).
My setting in GBPVR are Cyberlinks Video/SP and audio decoder, but I play my recording in most cases via MPC and FFDSHOW (date and version from video decoder of FFDSHOW nov 17 2006:msvc 2003, x86, unicode).
Bitrate in capture for GBPVR: medium at res. 720 x576 (PAL), 3500-7200 (Variable), audio 384@48 KHz.
I have also tried VLC, PowerDVD and all these player show the same problem.
What is it and is that related to driver or codecs? I would not think codec as every player show the same problem.
Can anybody point me in the right direction for what this is? Is it a problem related to bad hardware (theater 550 pro hardware encoding) or anything else?
_______
Same file begin with a normal video and audio which gradually get blocked like this from the same Danish channel over cable. I don't know if this could be a problem originated from the original source -broadcaster TV2 Denmark- where they might have some trouble during broadcast, but this have also happened on other shows I have recorded.
My computer should be up to the task as you will see from my signature here, so I don't believe it is related to weak performance in hardware.
I have several issues with my setup. I just bought a Kworld ATSC 110 installed with the DBA driver that came with it. For what it is worth, I can watch HDTV on my computer. However, there's major issue with recording as well as playing back a recorded (MS-DVR format) file.
Issue 1: I tried recording some files in MS-DVR format with GB. Anytime I try to play back, the play back program crashes instantly. I tried this with Windows media player 10, GB, as well as WatchHDTV's play function. Am I missing a driver or something?
Issue 2: I downloaded the Muxer according to the Muxer thread from AutoDVRconvert (Cyberlink muxer). Using this in recording, it seems to be recording (converting to MPG2 while recording). But I can't cancel the recording! The only way I can cancel is to change the Muxer back to MSDVR. What is going on?@#
Issue 3: Relating to issue 2, the timeshift function does not work.
p.s. If I tried to use the record function from WatchHDTV. But it is instant crash when I press the record button.
I've used gbpvr 0.99.05 and EWA build 54. They're both fantastic pieces of software, and I'm thrilled to be using them. I like to tinker though
I don't use the Netflix, and IMDB is useful for most films, but the TV series (especially the episode listings) are mostly found on wikipedia.
If anyone has a use for multiple languages, then the en.wikipedia.com could be changed for fr.wikipedia.com (for example). It's dead easy.
I've been using GB-PVR for my living room PVR for a couple of months now. For the first few weeks everything was fine. But lately I have been having some problems. During playback a show will freeze for about 10 to 30 seconds and then stutter on for a bit. Sometimes it will do this 6 or 7 times in 30 minutes. This makes watching things almost impossible. Other times it will freeze the image and the audio will continue playing then the image will speed up to ketch the audio.
The computer its playing on currently is an AMD64 3000+ with a gig of ram and a 80 gigabyte HD devoted entirely to recordings and a Hauppauge 250. The files themselves are fine since when I play them in other programs the work without issue.
I am about to replace that computer with a Pentium D 2.8ghz, 2gigs of ram, 150gig hd that will be shared between operating system and pvr, a geforce 6800 and the hauppauge 250.
My question is when installing for the new computer what decoders should I be using? I used the hauppauge for the first box but obviously that didn't pan out well. Also I kept having defrag issues, can anyone recommend a free program to take care of that? Right now I have my HD partitioned with 20 gigs of OS and the rest for pvr, should I have a third one set as well?
And finally my old box has issues when I play dvds. The aspect ratio is slightly off making everyone look rather skinny. I had to resort to playing my dvds in VLC. Any recommendations on how to fix that?
