I have just installed gbpvr for use with my Hauppauge Nova-T 500 dual tuner card. I am working my way through the process but am confused about seemingly duplicate channels being picked up with the suffix (#2)#2. For example there is BBC1 and BBC1(#2)#2. What is the difference between these two channels?
I'm suddenly getting the error below when updating the EPG. I tried updating to the newest (12/30) version of ZapImport, but still get the same error. Gbpvr.db3 seems to be updating OK, however.
My zapdb.db3 is only 13KB in size.
Zapimport.log has:
[INDENT]Using Path C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\
Begining zapdb.db3 update process...

Also, Zapdata.xml isn't updating. Its file timestamp is still at Dec 31, 2006.
When it struck me, this would be far better off in the system menus. I can't remember exactly what you call them, but the ones you find when right-click on the files in Windows explorer
So, add this to the DVR-MS filetype in the:
Tools -> Folder Options -> File-types menu
go to "Advanced"
then add a "new" action. Let's say "Convert to MPG"
Add the following, making sure you have the complete path to the GBPVRConvert.exe file, enclosed in "" if you have spaces in the path.
And there you go, you should have a working convert to MPG function in your menus.
Tada!
PS. First post, so thanks for the fantastic software
My GB-PVR won't play mpeg or realmedia (rm, ram) files. I have the k-lite mega codec pack installed and all my other media players (WMP, WMP classic etc.) will all play the files. I don't understand why gb-pvr won't.
I have had GBPVR running reasonably well under RC1 of Vista, but when I tried 99.5 under RC2 I'm getting .NET Framework Initialization Errors. I've reinstalled Vista from scratch but am still getting the same errors. Vista comes with .NET 2.0 preinstalled.
does anyone got a twinhan usb2 dvb-t device like me.
Mine doesn`t available after restart, windows XP reports unknown device.
after replug the device works fine.
I know that there is a possibility to restart a device after suspend with the wake tool of sub, but this device is not recognized of the system how about devices like this.
The wife's noticed a weird case of a recording that disappeared.
She went to Recordings->Ready pressed OK on the show and tried to play. It returned to the menu without any error, and the recording simply disappeared.
It is no longer on the disk either.
I've used UNIX grep to find all references to the show in question, and also collected all the logs (attached).
The only thing I see that's weird is the "PlaybackPositionManager.deleteLastPlaybackPosition" thingy.
This is the first time it's happened, to my knowledge.
I am having a problem where GB-PVR will hang when I try to watch live TV.
Sometimes it will hang the machine, but usually the processor goes to 100%, the first few frames are shown and then GB-PVR just freezes. If I try to close down, I have to end the process. I have previously been able to run no problems, but this situation has just happened in the last 2 weeks.
I have attached log files in the hope that someone can get thngs back on track for me.
The script was cleaned a bit more and it's been tweaked to try and automatically choose the best settings for more popular transcodes.
What's New:
0.4
* Video filter can be defined. Otherwise it's determined automatically.
* Fixed quant mode added. This will transcode a show at a certain quality level. A quant of 2-4 is recommended.
* Letterboxing (4/3 to 16/9) is automatically calcuated depending on input resolution.
* Output FPS is automatically determined. This can be overridden if desired.
* Test Mode has changed. Options are either no or the time (in seconds) for the test clip.
* Cutandcopy profile added(experimental). This will take mpeg and remove sections as per EDL file actions, leaving the audio/video quality untouched. This is also usefull for converting ts files to mpg.
* IVTC (inverse telecine) profile added. If you have content (mainly HiDef) that is skipping a great deal of frames on a consistant basis and output is jittery, try running under this profile.
* Twopass profile has been redone. There are two methods for twopass transcoding: size and bitrate. The twopass_15_min_size variable sets the target size of the transcode. By default, it's 350MB/hour. The bitrate option trys to create a file with a certain bitate.
* Channel patterns removed.
The urge to upgrade my system has overwhelmed me .

My current setup is a laptop:
- Pentium M 1.3 GHz
- 512MB RAM
- Integrated Intel 82855GM graphics controller with up to 64MB of shared memory for video RAM
- WinTV-PVR-USB2
It runs pretty smoothly except for 3 problems:
- stuttering when the channel is changed
- stuttering when the volume is changed (when the volume OSD comes on)
- tv guide takes a few seconds to load
Other than that, it works well. I don't do processor intensive tasks such video editing or encoding.

For my new system, I will go with 1GB of RAM, but I'm clueless when it comes to choosing the processor and video card.
Processor: Would a Athlon 64 X2 3800+ EE Dual Core 2.0GHz do? I know it's dual core and everything, but 2.0GHz seems a bit low--I fail to see how parallel processing would reduce stuttering when changing channels or displaying the OSD. Would a single Pentium 4 @ 3.0GHz work better?
Video card: Would a budget card such as a Radeon X300 (PCI-E) do?
