  LiveTV AV Sync problems
Posted by: johnnyb - 2006-12-18, 10:46 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Don't know if anyone can help, but....have built a new pc (asus P5B mobo, core duo 2 E6600, nVidia 7600GS, 2Gig ram) and want to watch live tv on it. Problem is sound is approx. 1 sec before picture.

I am a long term user of GBPVR (don't normally watch on tv, use mvp) and have been using cyberlink MpgMux.ax 5.0.0.813. Guessing it could have something to do with this mux. Have updated to a different cyberlink mux PGMpgMux.ax 5.0.0.2221 which came with trial version of cyberlink dvdsuite. No difference.

Can switch to timeshift mode to get av sync ok, but very annoying to have to do this.

  Newb w/HTPC...almost..
Posted by: steak2k1 - 2006-12-18, 06:38 AM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

Howdy all from Calgary, Alberta.! ya just gotta love forums. the last time on a similar subject, it was AL7Bar...still got the sats lined up but always trying to beat Dish on this thing and that thing & reconfiguring Myth was getting tiring and took up way too much time.

anyway...Finally got a new system and am set up with terrestial Cable.

Dell E521: Athalon 64x2 1GB Dram, 250 GB HD
SB Platinum X-Fi running a set of Logitech Z-5450 5.1 speakers (SPDIF), Hauppage 150MCE wintv-PVR crd, GeForce 7300LE using DVI-D out to (very soon) to be acquired Sony 40" LCD. Not sure if the Sony will have a DVI input so may have to adapt my DVID to HDMI.

Have CATV run to Tuner crd and have gbpvr working ...very Kewl btw.!
So far so good...

in the AM, shall sneak off to Shaw Cable to;
......acquire HD STB and set up HD Programming

I know that the Hauppage crd does not support HD and that I cannot record HD offerings.

..any thoughts on connection of the HD STB so that I can watch Live HD and still record standard programming (Non HD),..just not sure how that works as far as cables and connections.

Is there also a requirement to run separate video/audio to/from the the STB as well for the above set-up.? not sure on that front either.

And what would be really cool is if someone has a "how to" on setting up an MCE remote Ver 2 for use with gbPVR. I have been to the HIP site and DL'd / installed / run all that was required. Unfortunately to say but it may as well be written in Swahili for all the understanding that I can get from this program...pretty confusing.! (-%

any enlightenment that could be shed upon this would and will be greatly appreciated.

Many thanx in advanz.

  adding padding to shows
Posted by: writebac - 2006-12-18, 05:12 AM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (5)

First of all I would like to thank the developers of the EWA, I love having the functionality to manage recordings with it. I have one small request. Could you add the "padding" both "pre" and "post" padding to the EWA when it finds a show you want to record it gives you all kinds of flexibility, but leaves out the padding. Over here in the colonies, we have a nasty way of pushing back shows because a sporting event went longer then planned. Certainly I can bring up the tele and my MVP or change the settings through my computer, but with all the neat things the EWA can do I would think this would add to it's functionality and appeal.
Thanks again for your efforts they are appreciated!

  <PreferAlternatingCaptureSources>true
Posted by: moymike - 2006-12-18, 04:55 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Okay, I have

<PreferAlternatingCaptureSources>true</PreferAlternatingCaptureSources>

set.

I have pre-padding and post-padding set at 1 and 3.

When I record two shows on the same channel, that air in sequence, I'd like them to record on different tuners. This way they can both get their time padded. The reason is I often save weeks of a series up before I watch it, deleting as I go. I have found I had pull up other recordings to find the beginning or ends of other recordings. The padding would have taken care of this, if the padding had occurred. Again, this has only been an issue for me when I record two programs on the same channel that air in sequence.

I thought that setting the alternating capture source to true would make this happen, but it appears that the recording still takes place on a single tuner, without the pad between the recordings.

It would also work if when setting up a recording you could assign which tuner to use. Then I could make sure they use different tuners, which should make the padding minutes work out.

  newbie: Random
Posted by: Shwa - 2006-12-18, 04:24 AM - Forum: Recording2, MusicLibrary2, SystemStatus Support - Replies (3)

I am using the MediaMVP with ML2. I have been creating playlist by selecting whole albums, adding them to the playlist and then pushing the red button to randomize the newly selected tracks. However, if I already have music playing, the playlist and music restarts with the new random order.

Is there a way to add albums to the playlist, randomize the playlist, but maintain the current selected track.

Thanks.

I am using the MediaMVP with ML2. Album art is not displaying. Can someone explain, or direct me to a previous post that would describe how to get the album art to display. From the start.

Thanks.

  Updating Channel Lineup?
Posted by: cincyreds - 2006-12-18, 03:27 AM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (4)

Hi,

How do I update the channels which are displayed in EWA's TV guide? I've updated my Zap2it account by removing all the unwanted channels, but they still show up in EWA's guide (even after doing an EPG Update) and refreshing the browser.

I've searched this forum, but can't find an answer.

Using GB-PVR 98.13b, EWA build 53 and Firefox 2.0.

Thanks for the help.

Smile

  Workaround for hipsend problem
Posted by: guy lavoie - 2006-12-18, 01:30 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

As several forum members and myself have reported in the recent past, there is a known problem when using the hipsend utility with hip and the IR blaster that comes with the PVR-150 MCE kit. The problem is that using hipsend works ok when watching live TV, but doesn't work when using the recording service. No IR gets sent out.

Here is a workaround that is working fine for me and should work for anyone else with this problem. There are two executables in the zip file, runhipsend1 and runhipsend2. These are used as follows:

Place both executables in the same directory as where you installed hip (this is just to keep things simple). In the gbpvr config utility, configure the .exe channel changer and browse to where you put runhipsend1.exe and select that program as your channel changer. In the parameters line underneath, enter the full path to the hipsend.exe program and then leave a space followed by the {channel} option. On my system it looks like this (without the quotes):

"c:\program files\hip\hipsend.exe {channel}"

Save the changes and exit the gbpvr configuration program.

Next, add a new program to your PC's Startup folder. Specify the path to the runhipsend2.exe program. In my case it is:

"c:\program files\hip\runhipsend2.exe"

Then run the program once immediately just to get it running for this first time.

The way this works is that the runhipsend1.exe program will create a small text file called "c:\channel.txt" when gbpvr invokes the channel changer. The text file will contain the path to the hipsend program and the channel number that is desired. For example: "c:\program files\hip\hipsend.exe 023". The path and name of the text file is hardcoded in the program. Meanwhile the runhipsend2.exe program is steadily looking for this file and when it finds it, immediately executes the command in the file and then erases the text file. Although it is always sleeping and looping, runhipsend2.exe hardly uses any cpu time and doesn't access the physical hard drive constantly due to the filesystem buffering of Windows. I'm using this with Win XP but should work for other gbpvr supported versions as well (Win2k).

Add any comments/questions to this thread.

  Recording quality
Posted by: djbPVR - 2006-12-17, 09:20 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I'm sure there's a way to do this but I've looked around/searched the forums and can't seem to find it. Is there a way to change the default recording quality? IE When I schedule a recording have set to high so I dont have to change it every time.

Thanks.

  new install
Posted by: rickzolun1 - 2006-12-17, 08:32 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I installed the following on a box with Intel 1.6GHz/Win XP Prof :
- Hauppauge PVR150MCE card
- Hauppauge WinTV2000 application (for testing)
- GB-PVR v0.98.13b

The test with WinTV2000 worked fine. Also, when I use GB-PVR Tuning Assistant, I am able to see the channels. However, in GB-PVR when I select a channel and click on Watch, I get "Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object." As suggested in these forums, I turned off GBPVRRecordingService.exe and now I get "Error: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it."

I am attaching a couple of pix from my config.

I did look around the msg board and saw that this may be caused by a firewall. I have disabled the firewall on my machine.

Any pointers on what I could try? Thanks.
