  Norton Ghost issue?
Posted by: bgowland - 2006-10-11, 05:05 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

Over the past couple of months my recordings have been prone to more glitches than usual. Mostly the ones from my Nova-t cards although recently I've seen glitches on recordings from my PVR-350 and PVR-500. In the past, I never got glitches from my analogue cards.

Anyway yesterday I decided to sit at my PC with Task Manager open as I'd noticed that periodically the mouse pointer would freeze for a few seconds or scrolling web-pages would stick. After a few minutes the PQ2isvc.exe (Ghost) process suddenly jumped to 60-70 CPU usage and the mouse went jerky.

I've disabled the service now and the few recordings I've made since, have been free of glitches and I'm no longer seeing mouse pointer or scrolling freezing.

What I don't understand is that I've had Ghost installed on this machine for about a year. The only thing I can think of is that Ghost v9 has a problem with .NET 2.0 Framework although there's nothing on the Symantec site about this.

Anybody else got any ideas?

Cheers,
Brian

  OT SQlite DBProviderFactories
Posted by: fvfv - 2006-10-11, 04:51 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (10)

Sub, kind of OffTopic to GBPVR.

GBPVR uses System.data.common.dbproviderfactories to provide an abstract app that does not need to be changed if one chooses MS access vs SQLite.

Does the system.data.sqlite.dll file that gets installed on the gbpvr folder register itself on the .net 2.0 framework Db Provider Factories ? or is it registered by the MSI Installation file ?

Basically I would like to port an application to use db provider factories that go from Sqlite or Mysql or MS Sql Server, so I do not have to rewrite the entire application, just like you did with GBPVR.

Hopefully , the MSI takes care of registering sqlite. I now I did not need to install anything extra on my GBPVR server to use sqlite.

Thanks for your support.

  Cannot Set-up EPG data
Posted by: nbarsley - 2006-10-11, 03:15 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (9)

Hello Everyone,
Sorry if this is a repeat post from someone else's problem, but when I try to set-up the EPG, I can configure which card I want and all the settings within the tab, but once I try to update the EPG an error message comes up with the log that has been attached. I am still in the config stage, so I have never updated before. My computer compenents are listed below:
p3 1ghz
hauppauge pvr 150
PNY 5200 128mb geforce
Soundblaster Live
Seagate 160gb hd

Can anyone help me? If you need more information don't hesitate to ask.

  Video Dealy WinTV PVR-150
Posted by: ryanst - 2006-10-11, 02:47 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (14)

I'm curious about what to do about this...

If I got to the EPG and select a channel everything works fine but if I try to channel surf the video delay gets progressively larger and larger. If I go back to the EPG and reselect the channel then the video is back to being synched with the audio.

How do I fix this? To note: I dont get this problem when using WinTV. I have all the latest drivers for my card installed and I have tried used different decoders including the cyberlink decoders. I have a P4 2.6 GHz with 512 MB ram and LOTS of HD space. 128MB of video memory as well.

Thanks, GBPVR seems like great software. If I can get this working then I"ll be all done setting it up.

  Standard Analog TV Card?
Posted by: nightwalker - 2006-10-11, 02:28 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (4)

I'm looking for suggestions for a good quality analog TV card, not made by Hauppauge. I'll explain a bit below.

My wife would like to be able to watch TV while using her computer, not such an odd request in this group. Smile

I had a Hauppauge USB box that worked just fine but, since Hauppauge uses the same remote for everything when she was changing channels on her little TV screen, she was also changing things on the MVP. There is an IR port in her room that controls the MVP in the equipment room if she's watching the MVP on the standard TV.

So i guess what I'm looking for is a good quality TV that's not Hauppauge, so it won't interfere with the MVP. Being compatible with GBpvr is a plus as at some point if this experiment works well i can get rid of the standard TV in that room. It starts to get messy looking with multiple screens around.

Any recommendations?

Changing channels - Hauppauge remote (dish 301)
Posted by: michealmyers - 2006-10-11, 12:05 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Need some advice from the gbpvr guru's please.

I have my HTPC all setup and working except for changing the channels on the Hauppauge remote. I have dish network 301 STB and I'm using the PVR150, hauppauge remote came with it w/ IR blaster. I can adjust the volume, etc on it, but when I change channels....the channel title, etc comes up, but channel does not change. I have to use my STB remote to actually change the channel. I've searched through some of the older threads but I really couldn't find out what the problem was or what I needed to add in the remote settings.

This is the only prob thats been hanging me up and I can't seem to get it working so any help is appreciated.

  CDKScheduler and case sensitivity
Posted by: LesMcQueen - 2006-10-11, 09:48 AM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (13)

I've been using CDKScheduler for a short while now, and have found it invaluable for scheduling recordings that are over the horizon.

However, I notice that the search is case sensitive, which nearly caused me to miss shows due to the capitalisation (or lack of) in the EPG data.

What are the chances of seeing a case insensitive version?

I'd guess that the case of the search string and EPG data would need to be folded prior to the search taking place.

Hope you can help. Smile

Posted by: DoPeFiSh - 2006-10-11, 05:46 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I have an MX-500 Remote and I was wondering if it's possible to bind new skip commands to the lcd screen, I.E. I have skip in 10sec. increments foreword and backward and skip in 30 and 60sec. increments but I would like to add a 3rd skip say in 5sec. increments and bind it to the lcd screen buttons......possible?

thanks
