I've been plugging away at this for some time and I feel very close to getting this working.
I have an Technisat Air2PC card (generation 1) which works great. I'm pulling in my ATSC signal fine over the air. I do NOT have any analog cards but I do have the NVIDIA Decoder using the GeForce 5200 MPEG2 decoder. Live TV seems to work just great.
Where I'm having a problem though is in recording. When I record, it seems to "record" but then the .MPG or the dvb-ms file is unplayable. Doesnt play through GBPVR, and it doesnt play through windows media player. It's as if it's saving data, just in the wrong format.
I've tried a couple of the multiplexers including Cyberlink and Microsoft (i'm running XP MCE with SP2) without any luck at all. I'm presuming that this is a mux issue, but not sure how to resolve it.
If I understand correctly that ATSC is broadcasing MPEG2, why doesnt this save directly to the disk to read the stream later? I wanted full HD quality anyhow.
Any help on this would be great. I've checked out the wiki faq, which doesnt help and I cant seem to find anything else in the forums describing this problem.
It looks like the post padding feature isn't working when a recording starts at the same time the current recording ends. The log shows the following message:
14-9-2006 20:00:00.062 INFO [5] Found new programme requiring recording: Goede tijden, slechte tijden
14-9-2006 20:00:00.062 INFO [5] Stopping existing recording on this capture source. (removing from currentlyRecording)
The recordings are on different channels.
I use one PVR 500 and a PVR 350 so I have three tuners and I can still record three programs at once in version 98.8.
I remain confused about the PC client functionality and configuration needs. I have looked on the WIKI and in searched this forum to get a coherent description, but did not find one. I did upgrade my normal installation to version 98.08. That works fine with the MVP.
On a different machine I did the Client install. Set the configuration to client in streaming mode. I did share the gbpvr directory on the server. Next I started the client. I could see the TV Guide, and open a channel from there. I do get a black screen with on top the text "Starting timeshift mode TV. Please Wait". The screen remains black for ever.
1) I assume that the only thing I have to configure is the Client/Server section of the Capture Sources tab.
2) I assume the other tabs have no effect whatever has been set there.
3) As a consequence of 1) and 2) I can safely delete all the GBPVR subdirectories except \skin ?
I have attached the 3 log files (1 from server 2 from Client) that changed as a result of my last attempt to watch LiveTV. Hope someone finds a clue to my problem.
I'm new to this whole PVR thing, I have looked a few sites and TV listings (titantv, zip2it, etc), wondering how can I tell if certain show is new or rerun. Is there like a magic flag or ID for each episodes? or only by reading the description and guess?
I am just curious if anyone has gotten the client to work well on an 802.11b wireless network. The client works great but recordings are to jumpy/skip to watch. I am sure this is due to the bandwidth of 802.11b. Has anyone else been able to watch good video (recordings or live tv) over b?
When I cancel a recording in EWA it won't do it so I go to the server and open GBPVR, try to stop the recording, gbpvr locks up. Ihave to go into taskmanagerv to kill everything. When I start rec-service again I can't connect through EWA anymore I have to reboot the sytem. Then everything is normal again. I already did a clean install.(well ..with the old gbpvr.db3 and the old config.xml, deleted the rest before installing)
Strange thing is: when the recording is just on it's way (few minutes) then I can cancel through EWA, but when I leave the recording running for about 1 hr. and try to cancel through EWA the whole thing locks up.
This happened at ~17.33.
I can't find anything in the logs. I tried to attach them but there seems to be an issue with thr forumdatabase.
If I should move it to another forum, let me know.
Anyone any ideas
on sunday i had a football game. my local provider said the eagles were playing on channel 215. so i scheduled gbpvr to record said game when it started. when i returned home, i notice that said game was changed to channel 214. now i was unable to cancel the recording to watch the game which was still in progress. in a fit all i could do was cancel the service (end task) and watch the remainder of the game straight from the cable box to the tv, bypassing the pvrbox.
now, i would like to know if there is a proper way to cancel a recording that is currently in progress.
Has anyone applied the MediaMVP TCP/IP Optimization Registry change from the Hauppauge website? Notice any difference? Do you know what it changes exactly?
Just curious - couldn't find any discussions about it.
How do a change the settings for the Recording Quality options (Medium,High,Custom1 etc.).
From searching the Fourm I see evidence that this is possible.
I am using the 'BDA Recording Plugin' which does not seem to offer the function to change the quality settings.
I notice that the 'Direct Recording Plugin' provides this feature - but I do not see how this relates to use of the 'BDA Recording Plugin'.
