I've got a Hauppauge WinTV USB PVR2 that I've been using with GBPVR. I just updated the drivers for it from the Hauppauge site and now I get this error message when I try to watch live TV. Any suggestions?
sub Wrote:Each updated dongle.bin updates the drivers and software that runs in the MVP, and has the potential to include stuff like WPA etc. No new firmware is required for this sort of update - it would just be a matter of Hauppauge including support for it in one of their dongle.bin files.
In this case I'm not sure that WAP support is that simple. Because the initial networking is from the bootloader to the network, the firmware might need to be modified to support WPA and so a true flash upgrade could be required. This is of course also assuming the wireless card supports WAP and based on the info I've found on the card so far I'm not sure. I believe the chipset used could support WAP but the actual Samsung SWL-2610C card specs don't indicate this.
To be quite honest, I'm sick to death of hearing about ATSC recently, and I'm seriously considering changing it's official status to "not supported by me, but might work if you're lucky".
I'm not in a country that uses ATSC, so not a feature I can easily develop and test. It's luckily been 'kind of' working through its similarities with DVB. Annoyingly, it seems to work well for some users and not at all for others.
I've decided to have one last look at improving the reliability of ATSC, but will need to have someone provide remote access to a machine that has one of the compatible ATSC capture devices so I can do some analysis. If you've got fast broadband, and either VNC or RemoteDesktop, and can help out, please PM me the connection details. Thanks in advance...
Ok, I've been struggling with this and finally broke down to post on the forums. The longer I watch LiveTV, the more the audio is delayed. Recordings seem to be fine (I haven't tested this thoroughly) but LiveTV is definitely an issue.
After extensive testing, I'm just convinced its the FFDSHOW audio decoder. I'm using the latest Realtek HD 1.46 drivers & running the latest DHZer0point drivers. PureVideo is enabled for the video decoder. I'm only using S/PDIF output and have FFDSHOW output AC3 (Bitrate:224) with the mixer set so I can use the center channel and back channels (this is rather important). I've tried to use the PureVideo audio decoder and it didn't seem to have the issue (however I'm still testing this). In the control panel of the Realtek drivers I have it outputting @ 48kHz. I've read everything and tried everything; as you can tell its been very frusterating. I've attached a summary of the Nero InfoTool. All I can think is that the Realtek soundcard might be the issue???
1. It's a fun, cooperative community. At least that's what I gather from the posts I've read in the forums so far.
2. It's a .Net 2.0 desktop app. These are my guilty pleasure.
3. I have not found a cleaner UI for program guides and PVR features. Clean and easy. My kids can't use the "But it's the last episode!" argument at bedtime. They can record it themselves on their own computers.
3. I come from a long line of programming languages and development tools. My experience stretches back to K&R C and fork() calls on SVr4 and csh and bsh and then --GASP!-- C++! I was hooked! Some may say...OBSESSED!
But my darling has become tired and gray (like the cover of my edition of Stroustroup). My eyes wander. My loyalty first fatered, and now, yes, it is born over completely to the future (for the time being at least) of increasingly productive and efficient programing languages and frameworks.
So anyway, here is me, a closet nerd, at your services. Undaunted in the least by GB-PVR's poor documentation, no apparent QA structure, and of out-of-date manuals. Tally ho!
It works, and it's simple. My 9 year old uses it like second nature. And it's only been TWO DAYS!. :-)
The Plain Jane installation program was missing some files for the Weather and Theater plug-ins. An updated installation program is available in the wiki.
Below is my simple plugin install script. It deploys the files fine. But the durn uninstal.exe doesn't really do anything when it's run. It displays the expected wizard dialogs, but under "Details," it just lists, "Complete."
No files are removed. No drectories are removed. And of course the uninstaller isn't removed.
I'd be eternally grateful if someone could look at this. I'm sure I'll be smacking my head and exclaiming, "Doh!" :-)
