Was able to do more testing and the Live TV will just show a black screen after some amount of time. Tried bunch of different builds and they all seem to do same thing. Had odd sound cracking noises on 18.7 and 18.8 so just included logs for latest matrix and an 18.5. Think I did the debug log right but let me know if it isn't.
I remember you helped fix this before--seems to have crept up again in 5.0.6. A certain provider supplies mpegts streams that NextPVR is passing through ffmpeg even though there's no reason to--leading to ffmpeg pegging the CPU and choppy playback.
Logs attached, happy to give you credentials or remote access via vnc to the box if that helps.
I just turned on the EPL game on NBC today and watching it is so weird. The stadium has no spectators of course, but NBC has added virtual crowd noise, singing talking, cheering etc.
I would like to know if I need to install the WinTV software prior to installing NextPVR to get my hauppauge DCR-2650 up and running? I used the dcr for many years with Windows 7 and am excited to find that they are supporting Windows 10 now. Any help would be appreciated!
Using the NextPVR plugin for Kodi, I was wondering if there is a way to sub-categorize my recordings for a TV series by season. It seems that in general, Kodi supports this, but I can't figure out how to do it in the NextPVR section. In the main Kodi menu on the left, I have:
Movies
TV shows
Music
Music videos
TV
etc.
I've imported some TV episodes (not from NextPVR) into my Kodi library, and those appear in the "TV shows" section. The NextPVR plugin populates the "TV" section. In "TV shows", any show where I have episodes from more than one season has the desired behavior. For example, if I select TV shows => Titles => Murdoch Mysteries, I get a panel that shows:
* All seasons
Season 3
Season 6
However, in the "TV" (NextPVR) section, if I select TV => Recordings => Murdoch Mysteries, I just get a list of all episodes for all seasons, with no way to sub-select a season. The season and episode information is there (each episode name starts with something like S02E08), but I haven't found a way to utilize this, other than selecting "Sort by: Name", which at least puts them in the proper sequence.
I have quite a few recordings of a few shows, so sub-categorizing by season would be useful. From what I found when I was setting up my TV library (the "TV shows" section), Kodi seems to be somewhat picky about the structure of episode filenames (I think the SxxEyy entry needs to be in a specific place). I have NextPVR (docker version) set up with the default naming and folder structure, but I'm wondering if there's a way to make Kodi "play nice" with that.
I uninstalled NextPVR 4 from my system, then installed NextPVR5 .
I was surprised to see that subtitles don't show in any previously recorded videos or live TV channels.
After I reinstalled NextPVR 4, subtitles started working in the NextPVR 5 client.
Once I uninstalled NextPVR 4, subtitles stopped working in the NextPVR 5 client.
I'm running Win10 build 2004. Using nVidia GTX 1050 Ti with drivers 451.48 .
TV card is WinTV-quadHD.
How can I add additional argument to ffmpeg command that NextPVR uses? I wanted to add "-max_muxing_queue_size 1024" to fix a transcoding issue. I edited the following section in config.xml but it didn't take effect

Issue: EPG is working but no genres are being recorded into database, and thence into the TV Guide. The advanced search 'genre' dropdown is empty.
Same DVB stick using TVHeadend on a different system did find genres (from same transmitter EPG)
On another thread (sorting the EPG), Graham recommended the following:
Do an EPG update ... look in the nrecord.log to seee the frequency that the EPG data is coming from ... use the eval version of TScapture to grab a one minute FULL transport stream for a channel on the EPG frequency ... https://www.tscapture.com/ ... put the NextPVR logs, a copy of your database and the TScapture output on a cloud server and post a link.
TScapture is a windows utility as far as I can see - I am running nextPVR on a Kubuntu machine ....
TSDuck looks like it might do something similar on Linux but I am at the limits of my understanding the technical details of TV/video streams.
As an alternative - I could try TScapture with the DVB stick plugged into a Windows PC (or would I need NextPVR as well? doesn't look like it but would be good to know before I try), but will that still provide the information needed to analyse the problem on the Linux machine?

Trying to watch live TV in Kodi 18.7x64 + NPVR add-on 3.3.20 + NPVR backend 5.0.6 (on the same machine) under Win 10 x64 with the latest updates. Backend is configured so that I'm able to watch TV stream in the NPVR client. In the add-on's settings I'm using default settings with either localhost IP or explicit IP of the machine.
