  TV Guide Initial channel
Posted by: NumberFive - 2020-07-25, 06:40 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

Hello,

I'm just wondering is it possible to have the TV Guide start at a channel other than 1.  I know it preserves where you were, which is great.  What I mean is, on first run, could it go to a channel number such as 891 by default?

The reason is that the Freeview channels are numbered by their LCNs, but I have several non-Freeview channels which I watch much more and they are numbered from 891 to 899.  This works well as I can just go "up one page" of the TV guide and get them, but it would be even better if it would go there by default.

I know V4 isn't under development anymore, but if it happens that there's a setting in config.xml or similar that would be amazing.  I vaguely remember something like this being discussed on the forum, many many years ago.  Can't find the thread.

Thanks for any suggestions Smile

Sad Open Source Video Editing Software

Is anyone using open source video editing software? I'm looking for something to replace the Power Director 10 I lost when my unit went south, and can't afford a new one. Tks.

  Devices not found
Posted by: rmahlberg - 2020-07-25, 02:58 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (20)

I am trying to upgrade from v4 to v5 as v4 stopped working (unmanaged.dll error that's not fixed with a C++ 2015-2019 install).

In v5 when I attempt to add devices, the login screen just gives me the blue circle after typing in admin and then password.

If I click again on devices, my browser opens a 2nd window that allows me to change settings.

BUT the only Device I can find is IPTV Device, my dual tuner Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2250 (8851) is not listed.  Clicking Rescan for devices does not seem to do anything.

I've tried installing v5 with v4 installed.  I've tried uninstalling v5 and then uninstalling v4 and then reinstalling v5.  I've tried re-installing C++ via the VC_redist.x86.exe, same result.

Thanks for any help.

Why Do I Only See 3 Hours Ahead In The Guide?
Posted by: SamM - 2020-07-25, 01:45 AM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (10)

I can't see how to scroll the guide in the future more than 3 hours ahead. Is there a way to do that? I thought the EPG was updated daily. How far ahead does it go, and can that be changed? I didn't see how to do that the first time I did an EPG update. I'm new on v.5 (I'm assuming this is the web app), so I have a learning curve, as I just installed it yesterday. Can someone help me? Tks. Huh

Does Web App Need To Be Active For Recording?
Posted by: SamM - 2020-07-25, 01:23 AM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (1)

Does Web App Need To Be Active For Recording? I recorded a TV program yesterday, but the Web App was open at the time. I'd like to know without doing experiments of trial and error, if I have to keep the Web App open in order to record programs. Of course, I'm assuming that the web app is v.5.

I was installing npvr on a new unit because my old one is on the blink. I was expecting v.4 because that's what I'm used to. But somehow v.5 got installed, and now that it's set up I like it. But it begs the question if I close the web app, will recording still work? Will it still wake up the unit and record on it? Or do I have to leave the browser and npvr open?

Thanks.

No Subtitle streams available in V5 client
Posted by: zer - 2020-07-24, 09:41 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (15)

I've recently installed V5 and noticed that the new client can't seem to detect subtitle streams - both the Ctrl-X popup and the right click context menu only show the single "Disabled" option in the Subtitle list.

The subtitles are definitely there in the recorded file, I can select them if I open the file in Kodi or VLC, or indeed the V4 client.

Is this a known issue?

  MIgrate recordings windows to linux
Posted by: ottoguy - 2020-07-24, 01:57 PM - Forum: Linux - Replies (11)

Is there a way to migrate the "scheduled recordings" from a windows v4 install to a linux v5 install?  I saw a windows thread about copying the database.  Not sure if that would work to linux?

force the use of an updated XMLTV file
Posted by: TimTech - 2020-07-24, 12:33 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (5)

Is there a way to have version v5 of NextPVR utilize my updated XMLTV file for the EPG without having to run an updateepg.bat file?
My automated batch file that updates the XMLTV file takes about one hour to run.  I've manually updated my XMLTV file, I just want NextPVR to import its data.
I've tried the nextpvr.exe -updateepg switch without any luck.
If I go to the NextPVR web app, About, Update EPG, it just wants to run the batch file again.
I've googled this over and over but just keep finding articles about running the batch file.

Thanks

Where to set up post processing?
Posted by: daphatty - 2020-07-23, 09:45 PM - Forum: Docker amd64 - Replies (1)

Kind of at a loss with this one. I dug around in the UI and couldn't find where to configure any post processing scripts. Not sure if this is specific to the Docker image or if I'm blind. The goal is to set up some bash scripts that I've cobbled together for some fancy post processing.

  Using PostPocessing to move recordings
Posted by: ballfam - 2020-07-23, 06:33 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (19)

I'm running NextPVR on Linux, and I'm integrating it with Plex. So nextPVR makes the recordings in to a folder monitored by Plex. I'm also running Plex auto-optimization on the recordings to convert them from a .ts format to .mp4. All good, except that NextPVR seems to occasionally close off the file during the recording, I guess to save existing contextnt, and this kicks in the Plex auto-optimization and I end up with an optimized version that only contains part of the recording.

Seems like the way to fix this is to have NextPVR record to a location not moniored by Plex, and then move the recording the the Plex location when it is done. It appears I can do that by creating a PostProcessing.sh script in the scripts directory. Somehow, this seems like it would be a relatively common task, does anyone know if there is a script (or template) for Linux sh (not a bat file) out there that I can use to do a move at the end of the recording?

I understand shell scripting enough to be dangerous, but it would probably take me a few tries to get this right, and it would be nice if I could use something someone already coded.

Thanks
