  config crashes
Posted by: stefan - 2006-08-30, 06:48 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

This is completely repeatable for me. Every time I start config, it crashes if gbpvr.exe is running. I'ts not a big problem since I can easily shut gbpvr down, but it baffled me the first few times before I figured out how to get past it Wink

Config logs from my last attempt attached.

  microsoft patch for dvb users?
Posted by: stefan - 2006-08-30, 06:33 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (8)

Ok, for my new HTPC, I went to hauppauge's website to get drivers for my dvb-t card (http://www.hauppauge.se/pages/support/sw...90002.html) and they have a link to a patch from Microsoft. It's called KB896626 (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...laylang=en)

Has anyone felt the need to use this patch? It's supposedly only for SP2 computers...

  Removing accented characters from filenames?
Posted by: mlanglois - 2006-08-30, 06:11 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Greetings!

I use XMLTV to grab French TV programs.
These program names often contain accented characters that pose problems when creating directories and files for the recordings.

I noticed that apostrophes are already removed, which means that GB-PVR already includes a function that strips some "illegal" characters. Could this function be extended to all non-basic characters?

My other option would be to do this within the XML guide before it is read by GBPVR, but then the names would be stripped even within the TV guide, which is not necessary. Well, if I have to go this way, does anybody know of a simple commandline tool that would allow me to do this?

Thanks!

  Theater Listing & ContourHC
Posted by: -Oz- - 2006-08-30, 05:48 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (20)

Hey

I was wondering how to get Theater Listing 6.6 working with the contourHC skin. The wiki says its supported so I think something changed in 6.6. I tried mediacenterG and that had the same error. It worked with blue though.

This is the error:
ERROR: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Problem Deleting First Video in Recurring Set
Posted by: oddible - 2006-08-30, 05:34 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I have scheduled some recurring video recordings. They seem to record fine but when I try to use the GBPVR UI to delete the oldest video in the set, the software hangs for a bit, then goes back to the list and doesn't actually delete it. I noticed one time I tried this that it DID actually delete it but it still showed in the list until I restarted the app. This only happened once tho. Subsequent attempts just leave the old video as the first in the list. (Note, the current one that I'm trying to delete is a Failed recording that appears as the first in the list of recordings for the recurring show).

  Adding designer capability to class???
Posted by: bgowland - 2006-08-30, 05:31 PM - Forum: Developers - No Replies

What do I need to do to enable the ability to use Designer view on a class I created myself? For example...

I have a System Service application which was built from a template in VS .NET 2003 - if I right-click the .cs file in Solution Explorer and select 'View Design' I get a designer that allows me to drag'n'drop database tables from the Database Explorer onto it and it automatically generates the connections, datset, datatable adapter etc. OK - nothing new there.

What I want to do, however, is to do this for a class I created myself. I don't want the main service object to handle the DB or own the dataset, adapter etc. - I want a separate thread created from an object based on my own class to do this.

I can obviously just hand-code all of it but it would be much nicer to have the drag'n'drop capability.

Anyone know how to do this.

Cheers,
Brian

  Rainbow Static - Video Card?
Posted by: oddible - 2006-08-30, 05:25 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Heyas, so I'm getting this horizontal rainbow static (see attached pic). Its behavior is VERY STRANGE.

- The static doesn't show up on computer desktop until I run GBPVR.
- The static doesn't show up during the OSD before I go into video playback or Live TV
- Once I start Live TV or recorded video playback, the static fluctuates between minimally present to extreme distortion.
- The longer I watch TV or playback, the distortion can become so extreme that it washes out most of the picture - during these moments it is accompanied by audio distortion as well (this is what hints to me that it is not the video card).

Here's where is starts getting wierd:

- When I turn off GBPVR, the static continues, for a while, then eventually dies out.
- I took a screenshot of the screen during static but the static didn't show up in the screenshot file, HOWEVER, when I pasted the screenshot into Paint Shop Pro, the static showed up over the screenshot but not the rest of the screen (I mean that the static was in motion, not captured like in a screenshot). This part baffles me and makes me feel a little bit crazy and so defies anything I know about video that I was even reluctant to post it.

  Zap2it or EPG Problem
Posted by: snjustice - 2006-08-30, 01:16 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (35)

I'm running v96.12 with Hauppage PVR500 and I'm having the following problem:

-Search Guide shows the letters but clicking on them produces no results

-TV Guide was empty until I went into config Capture Sources and clicked 'Empty EPG' then 'Update EPG' (just selecting Update EPG gave me an error message "Your EPG source does not appear to be configured correctly..."). Now the TV guide reflects entries up until the timeframe when I updated the EPG.

-Scheduled recurring shows state they are pending but they are not recording.

I've been using GBPVR for about a year but don't mess with it much as it has been working pretty good. I think the only plugin I have is ComSkip.

Any ideas?

  Help with capturing/converting
Posted by: curt1s - 2006-08-30, 12:29 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Hello,

I have a Haupage PVR150 video card. I am using GBPVR to capture TV shows. Each 30 minute show I capture is around 1 gig in mpg format.

I tried converting the mpg to divx with DivX Converter program afterwards. The resulting file was not much smaller at all and the quality was much worse.

For a 30 minute show what settings do I need to use when capturing with GBPVR? WHat program should I use to convert afterwards? I was thinking a 30 minute program should be no bigger than 175MB and in good quality.

Thanks!
Curtis
