  direct.ini question

What do the blackbird=1 and conexant=1 arguments actually do? Isn't it enough to just have all of the WDM drivers for a card?
For a new card, what are the minimum set of WDM drivers to enable capture from a tuner?

  No Channel 12
Posted by: krustythekroom - 2006-07-27, 01:55 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I have a blank spot in the EPG for channel 12. The EPG does not show any information for channel 12. I am able to view channel 12 in Live TV, and schedule shows to record on channel 12 using the Search Guide, but it does not list any information about the show in Live TV. I've attached logs and a screen capture.

Will CA (conditional access)/CI (common interface) be supported in GBPVR again some time?

New TiVo service to measure its ad-zapping fallout

For those of you following Tivo with morbid curiosity as it bows to pressure and moves away from being a friendly device (like any GBPVR box!), you may be interested in the following article:

  <DrawText MaxLength="50"
Posted by: reven - 2006-07-27, 09:08 AM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

sub any chance you could add a "maxlength" attribute to the draw text, that if the text is longer than that, substring it to that length - 3 and add "..." to the end?

currently im doing this manually but its a pain having to do it every time i want to shorten something ( and i really dont want to hardcode it incase another skin has more room and can fit more characters).

  PC client
Posted by: perf - 2006-07-27, 08:23 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (12)

Sub,

are you considering ever making a PC client for GBPVR, letting a PC work the same way an MVP (without necessarily emulating the MVP protocol)?

The database sharing workaround seems a bit risky to me, and the two attempts at making MVP emulators in the end do not seem to succeed.

I am getting a nice big HD screen in the living room, but I would like to keep the GBPVR server in the closet. I do not think the PQ from the MVP is good enough for the big screen, so I will use a PC client.

It just seems like an enormous hassle to install Sage TV. (Not to mention the licence cost, as they charge separate licences for each server, PC client and MVP client.) The other option is XP MCE with an XBOX 360 as extender in the living room - but the XBOX is too big for the kitchen and bedroom TVs.

How to skip through large parts of show on MVP?
Posted by: jch - 2006-07-27, 07:20 AM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (13)

Here's the problem. Sometimes on playback, something happens and I end up back in the main menu.

I then have to patiently wait while I restart the show and fast forward through 1-2 hours of stuff I've already seen.

I'm sure I saw somewhere that you could press '5' to jump to the 50% point in a show, '7' to jump to the 70% point, etc. But, for the life of me, I can't get it to work.

1) Is there a way to do this sort of thing on the MVP? If so, what setup parameters do I need to change (if any)?

2) sub, have you considered modifying the functionality of the Play key on the MVP? Perhaps make it so that when pressed repeatedly, it skips to the end of the next commercial break, even if you're in the middle of a non-commercial segment. That way, you could quickly navigate back to the point of the show where you left off.

(I much prefer the fast forward/rewind mode to the skip forward/skip back mode and would like to retain this behaviour if possible).

Thoughts?

Thanks!

GBpvr crashing when playing a DVD
Posted by: Ferral - 2006-07-27, 06:17 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Not sure if this has been covered elsewhere, can't seem to find it if it has..

When playing a DVD it will play the opening title fine up untill the main menu. When I select to play the movie GBpvr crashes with a nice little notice apologising for the inconvienience... Anyone that's ever read Douglas Adams might see some irony here...8)

Anyway I've messed with the DVD decoders and things but can't seem to make a difference here. This is on a new install of the OS (XP) with Net2 SP2 DX9 and Media Player10 all freshly installed.

I normally use the K-lite codec pack but I've removed it as I thought this might be causing more problems than it's worth. Insted I've just installed the Xvid and Divx codecs stand-alone. Trying to remove any sort of FFDshow codecs and the like.

I've shaved down and attached the logs if someone could take a look and maybe point me in a direction, other than the stupid corner...Rolleyes it would be appreciated. I'm missing my PVR..Sad

  KWORLD VS-TV133 Expert Tuner Card.
Posted by: tamzarian - 2006-07-27, 05:42 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (6)

Hi!

I was looking to get another tuner card for my box, and I came across this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6815100146

It is just a budget card and probably won't be very good, but I was wondering if anyone else has had any experiences with it? Most importantly, though, will it work with GBPVR?

  Music files won't stop playing
Posted by: bcdudley - 2006-07-27, 02:15 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I briefly searched the forums for this, but did not find anything. I am running version 97.13. The problem I am having is more of a minor annoyance than anything. When playing certain mp3 or other audio files and pressing the stop button, the audio does not stop playing. It slows down to half speed. I have to exit out to the main menu and press stop again or select another music file to play. This seems to be random as I cannot duplicate it with the same file twice in a row and it happens maybe 20% of the time. It also happen with video files but much rarer and they do not slow down, they just keep playing.

Any ideas?
Thanks

By the way, Thanks to everyone who contributes to this program. It is one of the best programs to come along in a long time.
