Today I am encountering an issue with the IPTV channels, in that they aren't playing through Kodi.
They play fine through NextPVR and if I take the URL in the Kodi log where it is timing out and put it in VLC, it will play.
I removed and re-installed the NextPVR plugin. I've not *knowingly* changed anything that may affect this. I did try the advancedsettings.xml as suggested in another thread, but that didn't work, so I removed the file (it didn't exist in the first place).
As the Kodi debug log is quite big, if you search for "http://127.0.0.1:22089/live?channeloid=237452&client=XBMC-cb0eb34e7ac343d2a288e392848e3976", that is one of the channels I tried playing
Have also included NPVR logs incase there is anything that end.
Although I can't see what I could have possibly done, I am putting this down to it somehow being a PEBCAK issue.
It almost seems like the issue I had with the Terrestrial channels, which Martin solved, but this time with IPTV!
Was trying out the manual scheduling feature of the web app and found a problem:
One can't manually enter the start time. When the dialog appears, the Data/Time entry reads 2020-0528 20:30 even when the current time is 09:40. If I type in a new time of 09:50, and click Save, a recording is scheduled but with time of 20:30. In fact, if the dialog is again invoked, the time previously typed in, 09:50, appears! But Saving this new item again shows 20:30 as the recording start time. The date/time will be set correctly if the time/date drop down is used.
Also, how does one dismiss the time/date dropdown? ESC closes the dialog, not the dropdown.
I had an itch, so I scratched it. For years I have had a series of to-dos so I could keep track of new TV shows I wanted to record and then add recordings once episodes became available. I know I probably could do this using rules in some way to make recordings before stuff shows up in the EPG, but I tried that once in NextPVR and gave up. Nothing several hundred lines of code couldn't solve.
So, introducing TV Maze Integration. First, about TV Maze:
There's a wiki page with usage instructions, but basically there are two ways you can use this.
1. The free way you get a list of TV Maze IDs and pass them to the script from the command line. The script will check each show, see if there is an upcoming episode in the EPG, and setup a recurring recording (by default All New Episodes, but you can change that).
2. The paid way (annual subscription to TV Maze) lets you either use your followed shows as the source to try and record or (and this is the one I use), tag shows you want to record and then use that as the source list. If you do the tags, the script will untag the show once a recurring recording has been set (can change that behavior in settings). So I tag new shows with a "New Shows" tag, then run the script via PostUpdateEPG every night to see if a recording can be set up.
The script also let's you mark episodes as acquired (mostly because it wasn't that hard to add) after a recording happens (more on that in the wiki). I might implement a way to mark shows as watched, but I need to figure out an easy way to determine if a recording has been watched in NextPVR. I've already implemented the mark as watched in Kodi (via an update to a script called Media Maintenance), so I probably won't do it for NextPVR unless someone asks.

When I start playing a channel it'll play for a few seconds and then starts to buffer. Same behavior if i switch channels. I'm doing extended timeshift and my backend is on the same box as my front end so there shouldn't be a network issue. My HD homerun prime is hardwired.
With 5.0.5, NPVR needs some help to playback LiveTV from the Web interface.
In WebUI, Go to guide or channel list, select something to watch, Playback screen opens and msg at bottoms says "starting device, collecting data etc"
Playback controls then show the "pause button" signifying that playback has started, the time counter is active - counting up, BUT, the screen is blank.
Pressing the pause button followed by the play button starts playback ok
This happens every time a program is selected for watching.
LiveTv playback from the App itself or in Emby does not exhibit this behaviour. It works just fine.
One more step towards autonomous bliss. This new NextPVR is now starting up before Kodi and it's green but the tuners aren't there.
NextPVR console shows all of my HDHomerun tuners as "unavailable" and trying to start a stream with the client gets the dreaded "Unable to find available capture device"
and the Web client shows "failed to start requested stream" error.
This will continue until I restart the NPVR service. Once restarted everything works and Kodi is happy.
Windows 10 Pro on NUC10i7FNH and fresh NextPVR install.
I wanted to have a look at NextPVR (as a long time TVHeadend user) and I have installed it in a VM on my server on Ubuntu 18.04. Unfortunately I can't get it working, it's not discovering my Minisatip server.
The Minisatip is in a different network, available on a second network card, and it seems NextPVR does not scan on all networks.
I've found a hint to add an environment variable "SATIP_DEVICES" to tell NextPVR where to look for the SAT>IP server, but that does not work, too. I've checked that my environment variable is correctly set:
