gbpvr looks great and I am looking forward to getting the most out of it.
I already have a Aver Media TV Series Card (Version 4.31) working on my computer but it does not seem to be compatable with gbpvr (model number M168-U appears on the card itself but not on any documentation).
Before I buy another card could someone please confirm I will not get my card to work with gbpvr.
I am having difficulty in getting my machine to wake up from hibernate using my mce 2005 remote. I have a mce 2005 OS running on a asus p5p800 motherboard. Note: I have disabled the mce receiver and scheduling services in MCE to allow GBPVR to run.
The first thing I did was review the motherboard manual (yes the manual) and I changed the jumpers USBPW12 and USBPW34 to +5VSB to enable wake up from S3 and S4 sleep modes (for rear USB ports). The manual showed the jumpers as 2x2 jumper block however I was confused as to the orientation (up and down or left or right). I assumed the jumpers were oriented in the same direction as default setting (+5V).
That is, I configured the jumpers as below

1 . .
Is my assumption correct?
What is "+5VSB" anyway?
Anyway this didnt seem to work!
I then went to ACPI configuration in BIOS and changed the suspend mode from Auto to S3 only. I also changed ACPI 2.0 support from No to Yes. No luck here.
I then went to the APM configuration page in BIOS. This didnt seem to help as although it allowed you to enable wake from RTC alarm, external modem, pci devices, ps2 keyboard, ps2 mouse, no such option existed for usb. Did I miss something?
I then searched the forums and plenty of guys indicating it does work but none describing how its done. I found one thread that suggested a change registry entries but I was unwilling to do this as I was unable to confirm this through a another source (thread). Is there a thread somewhere that I have missed?
I've just upgraded from 96.12 to 97.7 and when I get to the end of playback of a recording or escape from playback I get a black screen rather than the menu. From this point on I can't get back to the menu and have to use ALT-ENTER to switch from fullscreen to window and then close the window to quit.
gb-pvr has not recorded anything since the 2nd. I have several seasonal recording that should have been recorded. The tv guide is updated and accurate, and you can see it litst the recordings as pending. But the show comes and goes and nothing is recorded. Not even a failed recording shows up.
about a month ago I enabled the web portal, thats the only config change the box has seen at all recently.
any idea what might cause this? oh and rebooting had no effect.
Running .96 version of gbpvr and was loving the software. I am not using the recording features since I don't have cable. Strictly used for playing videos, music, viewing pictures.
I started adding the "My" series of plugins which were all working great. Getting daring I even installed the CountourHC skin which made things look great, however I don't know if this might have lead to my future problems. The one plugin I did not have was the My Programs plugin which I thought would be great since my toddler seems to love Pole Position.
So I follow the directions and the plugin shows up in my config utility, but it will not show up in the actual gbpvr software. Keep trying but no luck. Then for some reason the other "My" plugins would just disappear when starting the software? I would have to go back into the config app, deselect the plugin, run the config again, then select the plugin again.
Well that worked for a while but suddenly nothing I did would get the other "My" plugins to show up. Like I said they show up in the config app with no problem, however not in the actual application. I even tried it would the default blue skin but this made no difference.
In desperation I renamed the original copy of the config.xml file and let it overwright my hosed one which I thought would let me essentially start over. I also created a new copy of the MyDatabase.mdb. Well this allowed me to get the MyVideos to work again, however nothing I do well let the MyMusic plugin work.
I have looked through the log files but there are several and I am not sure which one I should be looking at.
Any help would be greatly appreciated because I really love this software.
Is the Airstar HD5000 close enough in technology to the Skystar2 to work with the SkyStar2 recording plugin? The open-source SDK available from Technisat seems to be the same regardless of which card one has. The company claims that they are going to release a BDA driver "soon". Don't know how "soon" that will be, given that they claimed that in April.
Hauppauge has a beta IR setup program on their site. It is beta version 2.5. It looks completely different than the old program and has some new features and a learn mode. I could not get it to work with my cable box but it may help someone else. There are no instructions on the new features so I am not sure if I am using them correctly. Has anyone else used this program?
