Support for different resolutions on ATI THeatre 550
Posted by: AssafR - 2006-03-11, 11:11 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

Recording with ATI Theater 550 can only be done with the maximum resolution (D1, 720x576 on PAL).

I was told there is no support for other resolutions.

My wish for "Wish List" is the ability to add this support for other resolutions as well (if the hardware can support it).

noob is lost, doesnt get a signal on S-video
Posted by: c.d. - 2006-03-11, 10:22 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

hi there well im VERY new to the world of HTPC, but it seemed like a logical upgrade for my home theater. ok so im turning my old eMachines into a "sort of" HTPC. im using a Hauppauge pvr 150 on my XP comp.

im using zap2it for my EPG

within the "direct connection configuration" if i click the box that says "only show devices detected" it says it only detects a pvr-250, a pvr-250 w/ FM tuner, and a pvr 350. but no sign of my 150. ive tried all the options and all them were using the option that say "external tuner, s-video input" but i get no image in GBPVR.

also i dont know how to make GBPVR use the IR blaster that came with my 150 (version 1407), im not sure what .EXE file to make it use.

anyways id really appreciate any help with this.

If you have issues with video stutter or freezes up, download this tool...
Posted by: al1suarez - 2006-03-11, 08:14 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Hey guys, I've been having problems where if I would play a previous recorded show through the 'Video Library' and would exit the show it would freeze up and hang gbpvr. I also had problems where if I started 'TimeShift Mode' sometimes the show would freeze up. Sub pointed out that I had flakey combination of directshow decoders/filters and to try to fix them.

Well, I found this tool called MMCompView and this is what it does "The MMCompView utility displays the details of all installed multimedia components (Codec and ActiveX filters) and allows you to disable and enable specific components". After troubleshooting my problem by disabling codecs/filters my problem went away. I highly recommend this tool because I'm sure you will fix your video stutter/freeze problems.

You can get this tool at... http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/mmview.html

No Audio and Recording with Kworld ATSC 110 HDTV card
Posted by: danju - 2006-03-11, 07:48 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (1)

Just bought Kworld 110 card yesterday at Fry's and have been setting it up all night.

The problem is I can't get audio via liveTV thur GBPVR. But I can w/ the bundle ByondTV3.

1) I followed one of the hints to install AC3Filter. Select AC3Filter in CONFIG -> Audio Decoder. Tried differen CONFIG -> Audio Renderer options such as System Default, Cyberlink Audio Renderer, SoundMax, DirectSOund Sound max, etc. But nothing works. Please help!

Also, tried http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Nimo_Codec_Pack.htm
and K-Lite Codeec Standard: Klcodec253f.

2) Recording crash - One of the posts mentioned to have Cyberlink multiplexer in order for recording to work. Is this required for HDTV? I've had recording done on my Hauppauge150 before.
Where can I download this? Google serach took me to those above 2 codec downloads, but they didn't help with the recording problem either.
DBA Mux checker still shows 0 mux installed on system.
My PC is running MCE 2005 SP2 so shouldn't MS DVR-M be already a part of it (according to the checker msg)

System is Dell GX 260
MCE 2005 SP2
P4 2.4 Ghz
512 MB RAM
EVGA Ge-Force FX 5500 128MB RAM
Kworld ATSC
GBPVR v0.96.12

  gbpvr help
Posted by: nigatuk - 2006-03-11, 07:36 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (3)

I just put together a system which has a media mvp, a 500mce dual tv tuner, and directv satellite. I'm using the gbpvr software and I cannot figure out for the life of me how to get this all to work. I can view live tv on the computer monitor but cannot get it to all run together. If anyone can help that would be great. Thanks.

Ghosting, Blurring, Tearing and other nasty problems!
Posted by: scoyne88 - 2006-03-11, 05:38 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (15)

Hi all, I have been working on fixing the image quality of my pvr-150 in gb-pvr for about two hours straight, and I would like to share some information. In order to fix the image quality of my live TV source, I had to do a number of things

1.) Download NVIDIA video decoder from NVIDIA’s site
2.) Download Hauppauge tweak, I can’t remember where I got it

Then go into config, under playback select NVIDIA video, and audio decoders, and system default for audio renderer, I then checked the box marked vmr9, my computer is fast (amd 3400 64bit) but if yours is slower this may not be the best box to check. Then under the misc button, I selected encoder pass through in the live preview selection, checked use live preview mode if possible, and then went back to the playback tab.
I clicked on the video decoder properties, and brought up the NVIDIA settings,

I selected anamorphic
Hardware acceler
Smart de interlacing
Best available under the de-interlace modes
and checked prefer vmr9

Hit ok a couple times to save, and exit then I selected the Hauppauge tweak program.

I selected 150/500 advanced
I checked both temporal, and spatial boxes, and set temporal to 2, and static to 0 ( for some reason setting temporal to 0 resulted in it defaulting back to 5) then I checked all 4 save setting boxes, and hit save settings.

Hurray all my blurring, ghosting, tearing problems are gone. For a bit better picture I ran the thx setup off the finding nemo DVD, and adjusted the settings according to the instructions.

Hope this helps someone,

Beginner questions regarding LiveTV MVP configuration
Posted by: Morg - 2006-03-11, 10:51 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Hi,

I am quite new to gbpvr (just set it up yesterday). Watching my library works fine but I am still confused about what I should add as a capture source to make LiveTV work.

My setup is like this: I have an MVP and a PVR250, but the PVR is not connected to the tv (I only want to use the encoder chip - it's something about the signal quality in my house). How should my capture source look like?

Somehow I can't find any information about this in the wiki. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  Cheap hosting experience
Posted by: erik - 2006-03-11, 10:49 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (8)

The bandwith for the comskip support site is becoming too expensive and donations are not on a level that helps solving this so I am looking for cheap web hosting.

There are a couple of low cost hosting plans but I assume quality has its price so I'd like to hear if anyone has experience with this, in particular if the server performance is acceptable?

Examples of low cost plans promising 500mb space and 10GByte monthly bandwith are from anr, accuweb, inmotion and dn2.

Any feedback is welcome

Allowed to by new tuner!!! - PVR500
Posted by: psycik - 2006-03-11, 09:26 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (8)

Hi

I have just been given "permission" to add another tuner to my system. So I want to add a PVR500 and replace the 150 I have there now.

What's up with the MCR version of the PVR500, what is it, and can you get a non-MCE one, with a remote (the hauppauge remote not an MCE one). My PVR150 was a retail box with the remote, but obviously I'd like to sell that, remote included. So to replace it, I would like a PVR500 and another hauppauge remote control (the 45).

Can I get this?? Or will I have to get an MCR version of the card with no remote and use the current one from the PCR-150??
