I've installed gb-pvr to try, as I'm sick of showshifter.
However, my Nova-t pci card does not seem to be being recognised. When I try to set my recording source, I select BDA recording device, and when I click "only show devices detected in this machine" I get a message that there are no known devices. If I manually select one of the Hauppage Nova-t cards, then when I try to to map the channels I am told that GB-PVR was unable to start the selected device.
I know the card works, as I can watch TV on it using Showshifter, which is still installed, along with it's BDA mpeg multiplexer.
Hi,
I've just upgraded to v96.12 using the latest BlueMCE2 skin and now I can't seem to record programs over 1.5hrs. I have tried to record shows that were 2 or 3hours in length three time, and I've been only able to get 1.5hrs. Although I have two PVR150s installed in my PC, I made sure that there were no other shows being recorded at the time. The TV Guide (downloaded from Zap2It) seems to correctly indicate that the shows are 2 or 3 hours long, but they always end up truncated in the recordings.
I was using v94.12 with the BlueMCE2 skin prior to the upgrade and everything was recording fine.
Any suggestions on what I should look for or what I am doing wrong?
I switched to composite over svideo because there was glitching at the top and the side was cut in parts... Im using a hauppauge pvr 250 with a dish 311 reciever...
I am trying to test conversion of dvr-ms files into mpg with gbpvrconvert.exe. I recorded a 3 minute show in HD. The converter runs, but does not seem to finish and gets stuck somewhere with 100 CPU usage (until I kill it). I tried to use dvr-ms and cyberlink (which I have installed) muxes, but both show the same behavior. How long is the conversion supposed to take with a 2.0 GHz processor? Also, does GBPVR run comskip after the conversion to mpg, or do I have to add it to postconversion.bat manually?
The reason I am doing this to get comskip to run and eliminate commercials.
Thanks.

I'm using a DVICO Fusion HDTV USB device (DVB-T) on a P4 820 D PC with an ATI Radeon X1800XL, on Windows XP SP2 using NVIDIA DVD Decoder.
The DVICO DVB-T tuner is working well with the Fusion HDTV software, Media Portal and DVB WebScheduler. However in GBPVR, all is fine : it tunes correctly and display the right channel.
But after some times, GBPVR will not tune any channels other than those on one frequency (same transponders). If I use Media Portal right after seeing this behavior, it exhibits the same problem : can't tune channels on other transponders. However Fusion HDTV is still able to tune any channels (and maybe DVB Web Scheduler).
It seems to me that the USB device is left in an inconsistent state by GBPVR, and only a reboot will resume the device to normal operation.
I'm using the latest driver found on the DVICO site (3.30.01), and this only happens in GBPVR, I can use the DVB-T tuner in Media Portal and DVB Web Scheduler every day, and changing channels many times without "locking" the tuner to a transponder at all.
The other problems I'm having is with program boundaries. I'm using "Timeshifting always" (DVR-MS as mux) and when GBPVR reach a program boundary, it just stops. I've verified that the recording service does started to record the following program, but for a reason or another GBPVR doesn't play the new file or it does play it but the recording service just stops (the recorded file is 3 to 20 seconds in length).
I'm attaching all log files produced by a fresh setup of the latest version of GBPVR (96.12).
Any help would be appreciated as GBPVR is much more user friendly to use than Media Portal.
Last night I tried playing a DVD for the first time since the recent upgrade and it failed.
Inserted DVD in Drive G
Selected DVD from Main Menu
Screen goes to black, DVD spins up then stops, screen remains black
GBPVR no longer responds to commands (Back/Esc, Keyboard ESC, etc.)
Hi all, this is my first PVR build, i have been wanting to get around to this for some time now. I have been eying GBPVR for a few months and i think i am ready to make the plunge.
I already have some spare items around the house I plan on using for my build:
1. XP pro
2. 2800+ AMD (barton socket A)
3. 512 MB DDR3200 Kingston Value Ram
4. 400GB UATA Seagate
5. GBPVR (*FREE)
PARTS TO BUY:
1. Power Supply: i was thinking of the seasonic 380W ($77; newegg) I have used Antec's for over 40 builds in the past several years, but the price and reviews on how quiet this PS is seem right for this project.
2. Tuner? i was leaning towards Hauppage, i would ideally want dual tuning capability, so its seems either two 150 or one 500 card. definately want onboard mpeg2 decoder to take strain off CPU.
3. REmote definately need a remote, so many different posts regarding this issue still unsure on what would work best
4. CPU cooler something fanless, or zalman low RPM
5. MotherBoard if i stick with the Barton, then socket A otherwise i could go to a 754 or even 939 and get a new processor and try to keep the new processor $$$ around $100-150.
6. video Card no choices yet, woudl go fanless - outputting to my Harmon Kardon AVR 635 and then to a 32inch sony trinitron tube (old, not flat)
7. Case TBD, depends on how much everything else costs... i like the nmedia 200SA because it would blend superbly with the AVR 635 but since I want to run fanless lian li seems to have very well vented cases...silverstone has some nic offerings as well.
That seems to cover most of the major points. One key thing is that i would run this HTPC through my Harmon Kardon 635 receiver, probably S-Vid and coax/spdif for audio, hopefully wouldnt need to run both coax ad standard L/R analog audio. If i find a killer mobo that 754 or 939 socket I don't have any qualms buying a newer processor at a minimal cost. Also thought about turning my athlon 2800 into a mobile version for reduction power/heat, but that seems to severely hamper mobo selection. Want to run the whole unit basically fanless or put in some very large low RPM fans...
Any thoughts/ideas/comments from current GBPVR users would be very welcome!
all my recorded mpeg-files play back fine on my pc. I can also burn them with no problems to a DVD with Nero (7). But, when I view them on my (standalone) DVD-player, audio and video are out of sync.
I searched the forums and tried mencoder. The (newly) encoded file still plays back fine on my pc. It even starts out good when burned to a DVD and played in my DVD player, but after a while, I get weird short skips (a few minutes apart), and with every skip, the audio gets more out of sync (starting with about a second after the first one).
Is there a solution to this problem? I don't think Nero re-encodes the videofile, and it should be compliant. So another burning app should make no difference, I guess?
Tried encoding a recorded mpeg file for my ipod (with videora), and that works well too.
Please find attached the beta / first release of my channel logo tool, It's a little application which downloads icons from the internet and allows you to match the icons with your channel names in GBPVR before publishing the to the CHANNELLOGO directory.
