I uninstalled the previous version and installed the latest version yesterday. New one is faster on live TV but all recordings play horribly slow till they just stop. Tried the two shows I recorded in WMP and they play fine. Any idea what I've done??
So, what is it? It's an API written in perl (using Class::DBI) for accessing the gbpvr.mdb (and videoarchive and rectracker mdb's, too). Basically hides all of the SQL necessary to read/write from the db, and treats all database rows as objects.
Why? So writing gbpvr utilities using perl is easy .. why perl? Because i know it well (as opposed to .net) and it's fun ;) and perl can be very powerful and quick to code ... Also as a coding excercise and something to contribute to CPAN.
So, after many hours of testing and configuring i could find more informations about the *new* Remote Control from Microsoft, which will be delivered with some WinTV PVR-150MCE and WinTV PVR-500MCE Cars.
This Remote looks like an MS MCE 2005 Remote V2 with the eHome Infrared Receiver.
Now i (think to) know, why this remote isn't fully supported by GB-PVR. This Remote Control was built by SMK Corporation and here are some data (sub, especially for you):

If u see the picture in the .pdf then you will see, that for the PAL-Remote some Buttons are missing. The missing Buttons are downside (5 Buttons for Teletext). 4 Buttons are colored, 1 Button is labeled "Teletext"
My english isn't so good, thus i hope someone else can get some information. Especially Software or Drivers for configuring the remote or the beanbag.
The newest IR.exe from Hauppauge don't fully support this remote and this makes me angry. The last days i tried nothing else then mapping all the buttons for a good GB-PVR handling. But 6-7 Buttons aren't mappable... *grml*
If you're having timestamp issues, I have some new drivers you can try. These drivers are pre-release drivers, so have only been lightly tested, but initial feedback has been positive.
This may have been answered elsewhere, but after several hours of wading through many threads, I haven't found a clear answer (perhaps my searching skills are not good enough).
Anyway, I have some movies encoded as WMVs which I would like to play back on my MVP. Right now, all I get is a black screen for a few seconds, then a dump back to the menu screen. I have set the transcoding delay to the max, but it doesn't help (I do get a longer black screen, but nothing plays).
My machine is an Athlon 64 3000+, so I wouldn't think encoding speed would be an issue, but I could be wrong. On the other hand, I downloaded a few 320x240 videos from the Internet, and some of these play fine, which would suggest that my library encoded at 640x480 is not being transcoded fast enough.
I guess my questions are as follows:
1) What logs should I look at to see what is happening, both when it works and when it fails?
2) Are there ways to tweak the transcoding settings specific to WMVs?
3) Should I ideally be using ffmpeg or Trans2MVP? Do both solutions even work with WMVs?
Sorry for asking so much, but it just seems that the majority of questions here deal with Divx or other AVIs, so I just need to know where WMV transcoding strays from the pack.
I have just started using GBPVR with my PVR250 on XPPro, and am very impressed. However, I cannot get the capture sources to switch over from tuner to svhs. I have the config set up as follows:
Tuner - Direct Recording Plugin - Bleb(UK) - No Channel Changer
S-video - Direct Recording Plugin - None - No Channel Changer
Both these sources are set to Device#1 (my PVR250)
When I select Live TV I just get the channels from the tuner. The only way I can get the s-video source (Sony DHR-1000 DVR) is by deleting the tuner entry, not ideal! Please can you help? I am probably missing something very obvious.
I am trying to figure out the best way to archive recordings to dvds. However, at ~2GB per hour, it looks like I can only get about 2 hours per DVD. I would definitely like to get more than this, even if I have to sacrifice a little quality. I have tried converting my recordings to divx using mencoder, and this cuts the size in half, which looks good. I then tried converting the divx file to dvd using DIKO, but this seems to just increase the size back to the original (actually, it's a little larger, but that's probably just due to the additional dvd stuff). The DIKO website mentions getting 10 hours of good quality video on a single dvd. Has anyone been able to get this kind of output? What am I missing?
Does anyone have any advice or suggestions for getting more than 2 hours of recordings on a dvd (but still being able to play it in a dvd player)?
I am not sure if this has been asked, or is possible, but I'd like to have the facilty to have a cached/saved Search facility, which would tell the WebAdmin to pop up a little screen on login (or even to GBPVR) and say, hey your show has appeared...
i.e. a program being sought, that was not originally in the EPG, appears in the EPG at some later date.

It would be nice to have a feature where you could enter several key words into a list that gbpvr would search for in the show description field (or other fields) to always be on the lookout for. The processing could occur at the end of EPG update and would place the results in a secondary list that the user could look at from the UI to schedule shows to record.
I do something similar with my Directv STB's, there is a feature called the "Scout" that does this. I was thinking something similar integrated into gbpvr would be a great addition.

Apologies if this has been asked before, I did check the WebAdmin section of wiki and searched on "pending recording" "quality settings" but no joy.
Apart from cancelling the scheduled show and re-scheduling it, is there any way of changing the quality setting (e.g. from med to high) of one (or even ALL at once) of my PENDING recordings?
