XShare is a new tool I have been playing with in the last few days. I know I have been gone for a month or so. Work well got really bad and I have moved on (50% pay cuts and all). So I have spent the last couple of days working on this little app.
I have a new job on wed.
You can run it from the gbpvr directory and connect to another machine running it in server mode. You can list all pending shows, shows in ready, the schedule, download and send shows with resume. It supports multiple users.
The goal eventually is to schedule it to automatically download the shows from your friend.
It works well on my local network. However I am trying to try it for real and am running into problems.
I cant get through my router.
If anyone has any experience setting up the port forwarding on a DLink router I would appreciate it. I setup a virtual app but it is still not getting through. If anyone wants to play with it please email me at jared_dubin at yahoo.com

it still calls "needsRendering()" of the plugin and still paints the underlying plugin. this is a problem for me since when video is playing back i repaint the screen every second to update the position duration (eg 1:20 / 4:45), which makes the music visualization a little jerky.
is there a reason for this? if so can you add another method to indicate if the inset is in fullscreen so im not repainting the screen every second.
I have Hauppauge Wintv-150 with IR Blaster, running gbpvr, Digital cable box, Zap2it tv listing.
The problem is when I change the channel on my Hauppauge remote it changes the channel on the cable box like it is supposed to, but with one problem; it also changes the channel on the tuner. So obviously also when i push on a channel in the gbpvr tvguide it will change the channel on both (the tv tuner and the cable box). And again obviously the only channel that will work is channel 3. How do I configure this to work correctly. I've looked everywhere.
This question relate to navigation within GBPVR, v0.96.08.
Let's say I am watching a recording, and I want to look at something else on the main menu page briefly, then return to watching my recording. So on my Hauppauge remote, I hit the Menu button, and the main menu comes up with the recording still playing in the side window (which is not a problem). I perform my task within another menu, and return to the main menu, with my recording still playing in the main menu side window. Now, if I want my recording to switch back to a full screen view without stopping it, is there currently a keystroke that will let me accomplish that?
Anyone use these applications? If so, I'm having problems lately. It seems that both applications have recently begun to max out my paging file (which is system set at about 2700mb) and it throws my system into error. I'm wondering if anyone has known a fix for this?
I've noticed this one in the past...it's just a wierd logic bug I think, more than an error bug.
What happens is I'll take a show, and want it to get all showings, so I tell it to get all (basic). But, if I go into "More" (I think that's the next menu), to make sure it's set not to record dupes or change the padding, it unsets the basic, and ties the recoding to the day of the week (at least, if not channel, etc). If you then go to Power to fix that, and keep your more, it sets a start/stop date and other things, undoing more of the catch-all from the basic.
Basically, what I'm running into is that it seems the different scheduling menus bring their own defualts in that "overwrite" some of the basic things, or just adds conditions that undo broader criteria you set elsewhere.
Like I said, it's not a tech bug, but I think just a logic puzzle/trap you can fall into.
Making both ends of the Scheduler list open for navigation (up/down).
I'm starting to get a lot of items in there, and since new items go to the bottom, it would be nice to be able to go up the list to get to the bottom fatser.

I've recently started using gbpvr as the front end to my htpc. I'm happy to say 99% of it works flawlessly
However i decided to try and set it up so that it would go into a suspended mode evey 30 minutes (S3). This nearly worked
Basically what happens is that I can put the system into S3 ok (fans off etc) but when gbpvr wakes the system to record a program the screen output is blank (i'm using the tv out of gfx card). It is initializing the card as i can see the effect on the tv (goes from black to a very dark gray). Whats more it records the program fine !!! It's just that i cant see what it's going. Whats stranger is that if i move the mouse or press a key on the keyboard the display turns on , problem is that under normal conditions it doesnt have a keyboard or mouse attached. Although moving around with the remote control wont bring it back but the movement is registered as i can see that i have navigated menus when i get it back with the mouse.
Another thing is that if i suspend the pc then use the remote or the case button to bring it out of suspension everything works fine , it only seems to blank the screen when gbpvr does it.... weird ....
The only thing i can think of that might be causing this is the way it is brough out of S3 by gbpvr. Since the case button and the remote work fine (pressing the power button on the remote is physically the same as the button as it's wired throught the IR sensor pcb). I also edited the registry to allow waking with the keyboard and mouse to see if that fixed it ... it didnt , but it did resume properly ith the mouse and keyboard.
In a desperate attempt i even wrote a script to change to resoultion to 640x480 and back to 720x576 hopeing that might make the screen reappear ... it didnt
I also updated the drivers for the gfx card 77.72 -> 81.92 ... had no effect
Oh and i also notice that if i try to use VNC to veiw the screen when it's blank it does connect but i dont get any screen only a title bar ... it's as if the screen res was set to 0x0
Heres my setup in more detail , anyone got any ideas or maybe had a similar problem ???

It's a good feature to start recording when you are watching.
And I think the next step don't breake the logic: put the record in background
- you can switch to watching some video and return to just recorded session later.

I have just setup GBPVR for the first time and set to work with MVP extender.
The TV capture device ( Nova-T ) works fine on the computer and I can watch live tv and record OK on that. The MVP is working and I get the GBPVR menus , TV guide etc all come up when its switched on.
When I select LiveTV on the MVP, the screen just goes black. A small "play" symbol appears in the top right of the screen , followed by a "stop" symbol, then the MVP reboots with " Contacting Server" message.
The GBPVR menus then reappear.
I have left the MVP setups to the default ( dongle.bin ... etc )
