There's so much development going on at the moment that i'm struggling to find time to keep up
In the last few days we've had lots of exciting skin developments, webstreamer, volume plugin, a new LCD plugin, webTV, MVP recode....and the list goes on - not to mention the new version of GBPVR!
Seriously though, it's a sign that GBPVR is in great shape and getting stronger by the day. Thanks to everyone that makes the wonderful 'additions' that regularly keep me up till 3am :p
Small wish this one but I find the OK button in the config program a bit frustrating as I sometimes press it and then have to reload the config to do something else. Any chance of an Apply button that keeps the app open but writes the changes and then restarts the recording service?
Next wish would be a dialog box that popped up and says something like "Your wife/kids [delete as applicable] are watching the most important programme in the world, their lives (and consequently yours) will not be worth living, should this viewing be interrupted by a restart of the recording service. Would you like to:-
a) Drown the kids
b) File for divorce
c) apply the changes and schedule a recording service restart when the system becomes free?"
Im looking to add a second tuner to my dedicated GBPVR machine.
Im currently using a Haupage Nova-t USB2 and am looking for advice on a second (possibly dual?) Freeview tuner that will install and work happily along side the Nova-t.
Will a WinTV-NOVA-T PCI work happily ?
Does GBPVR support the FM radio tuner in this card ?
Does anyone have a suggestion for a better alternative ?
Just done a clean XP install, latest drivers, directx etc etc. Not sure it made any difference really though, think it was the lnb settings that made all the difference. If your in the uk try these setting

Have an ATI 550 Sapphire Theatrix to get S-Video input from a Sky Digibox.
When I start GBPVR and enter LiveTV, the picture quality is awful, banding all over the place, extremely grainy, mostly black and white. I'm using a Grundig GDS3000 which has a dedicated S-Video output - it's definitely nothing to do with the cable (see the next sentence ...)
If I start the tuning assistant, then cancel it and re-enter gbpvr, picture quality is fine - everything is in colour.
If I restart the system (and I know you don't like people saying 'such and such' works fine with my setup...) and run BeyondTV, BTV shows LiveTV fine immediately.
I have created a little tool to recode video-files specifically for playing on MVP.
It allows you to set up a "profile" for you MVP (including wanted video-size, FPS-rate (for NTSC/PAL conversion, wanted audio- and subtitle-language, aspect ratio and automated 5.1 audio boost). When running, it analyzes the input-file, then goes through some logic and comes up with the encoding options.
This means it can do the following:
- Re-scale (while keeping aspect ratio), even adding black bands for 16:9 movies
- NTSC/PAL conversion (and PAL/NTSC)
- Boosting of AC3 audio
- Reading from dvd images or directories (without the need for Deamon tools)
- Ability to select audio language for dvd images/directories
- Ability to overlay subtitles when correct audio language is not available (but subtitles are)
The actual command-line for mencoder gets created "on the fly", and the profile to be used can be tweaked to match your convenience.
The zip-file contains a "readme.txt" that explains the main tool.
I have also included the source-code, so other developers may use/re-use the code. It might be a nice addition to XDVD
I have tried several other options, but ended up getting frustrated with the automated transcode's inability to handle correct display of 16:9 (or more) video's to display correctly on my 4:3 TV-set.
That meant I usually reverted to transcoding the files by hand. After having done that on 15+ movies (with that looooong mencoder command-line) I decided it was time for another approach.
I did look at the other (automated) transcoding tools, but their main purpose is to transcode from one format into the other, and I just wanted the best MVP display quality possible.
I think that the GBPVR web page doesn't reflect all the excellent features of GBPVR. It was some time since the web page was updated.....or hasn't in been the same way always.
I suggest that we in this post add material that Sub can use for an update of the web page. It think that web owe him somthing in return for all the work he puts in.
I will add facts that comes to mind. I ask you to do the same.

GBPVR have been translated to many languages. If you don’t find your language in the list, you can help out and translate it to your language. It is very simple and just a couple of hours work.

this is probably already on subs todo list but anyhow
it would be nice if a preview of the currently selected channel in the tv guide was shown in the video inset in the tv guide, using the live preview mode so it changes channel quickly. but only if no video is playing back to begin with.
of course there would have to be an seperate config option to enable this in the config than just the "use live preview" option, since i (and probably a lot of users) preview timeshift mode when viewing tv and dont actually have live preview turned on at all, but only way to do the channel preview.
When I installed the new gbpvr revision I needed to reset the screen position on the MVP using the plugin I tried to set up the plugin and this is the error I received. Any idea on what I did wrong?
