I've been watching a lot of video podcasts recently, and thought that it would be cool to watch them through gbpvr on the tv. There are a number of well made podcasts such as Tikibar, and DL TV, and others with unique content like the vintage toon cast. It would be cool if gbpvr could browse subscribed vidcasts by alblum art and display the description for each episode, etc. I realize you could just browse the files directly in the directories itunes saves them in, but they are often not very descriptive names.
I'm just trying to get DVD2MPEG running so that I can rip DVD's and watch them over MediaMVP. I have installed everything and run the config, but when I try to convert I wind up with an audio.ac3, audio.mp2, and a video.m2v file in the temp location (I told it not to delete temp files) but no output in the output folder. There is also a besweet.log, VTS_01 - stream information.txt and VTS_01_0.ifo file in the temp location.
Any thoughts on why it's not generating the final output?
Sorry if this becomes rather long! I have been lurking on here for a while now reading the problems, advice, successes etc whilst experimenting with GBPVR at home. I have searched, read, searched and read some more but I am still confused about some things.
I am planning a (dedicated) PVR/Mediacentre based around GBPVR, XP and a Shuttle system and currently have a WinTV PVR-USB2 and a Nova-T USB2 to use as tuners. These two tuners obviously come with a remote each and have built in IR recievers. I know that I can use one remote to control GBPVR (and XP if the iremote.ini is setup correctly) which in turn will select the correct tuner etc etc.
I would also like to be able to control my surround speakers, tv, projector, standalone VCR and DVD player from one remote. I know this cannot be done with the Hauppauge remote and so have been looking at the Harmony 885 to do this job. The first question is can this be used to control GBPVR in a similar way to the supplied Hauppauge remote?
The second question / problem is that I will have a UK Sky Digibox (Panasonic)connected to the PVR-USB2 via the component connectors and need GBPVR to change the channels on the digibox. For this I understand I'll need a IR blaster/transmitter but which one?
I could buy a PVR-150 and use the blaster that comes with that but I'm not sure whether it will work with the digibox - latest drivers are rumoured to.
However, I would prefer not to buy a PVR-150 as the Shuttle only has one PCI slot, I am waiting for Hauppauge to release their dual DVB-T tuner card and the PVR-USB2 already fulfills the analogue tuner role.
Therefore, how about a USB-UIRT? Will it work with the Harmony 885 remote? Will I have to buy Girder as well in order to send the correct commands to the digibox?
I'm sorry this is long and a tad rambling but I'm confused! :confused:
Using DScaler5 as a decoder works great -- until I pause or fast-forward. When it resumes, there's about a 75% chance that the video will be extremely stuttered and jerky.
To get it back in synch, I have to either pause or hit FF again -- though, I sometimes have to do this multiple times before it smoothes out.
Only DScaler5 does this among all of my decoders, but I'd like to keep using it because it does the best job with sports.
Quick Record not working but if I record using the long winded (full) method it is fine.....quick record just generates a directory with a 0kb file in it. Woke up to an empty 'Final Destination 2' folder this morning - ouch.
Running MVP/GBPVR/FreeView/Nova-T PCI (90002) card. Have uninstalled the Hauppage MVP software but NOT the Nova-T software (assumed that GBPVR needs all this?)
Any troubleshooting advice would be very much appreciated as I sold my wife on the 'one button record' from the Hauppage remote record button!
Everything else is fine (apart from Live TV rebooting the MVP everytime I use it but watch on Freeview box so not worried..)
Not sure what others think especially developers who already receive betas but thought it might be an idea to offer betas to those who donate? (Maybe via a hidden part of the forum for dontors only) Not too worried either way myself as already donated but maybe it would encourage more donators? Anyone else have any thoughts?
I am recording of a hauppauge 150 without fm and I'm having the following problems,
A, comskip seems to work, but since the timeline seems to be corrupted on most recordings it sometimes skips into the next commercial LOL
some 1 hour episodes are like 10 to 20 minutes long also 2hours movies at times according to the progress bar are only an hour or less at times
(well the whole spectrum of the possible range of time is there,
this also means that at times skipping forward which is supposed to be 60 seconds ends up being ten minutes
So I assume the time corruption is not equal throughout the movie it's all over the place I don't know quite why this is just thinking the codes that determines the time is buggy.
Never had this problem with the trial of beyond4,but there I lost half my screen in some recordings, Free as in BEER is better since I haven't had that problem show up in gb-pvr
Anyway just wanted to let you know about the timing problem.
My solution I killed comskip and I skip manually back and forth; although sometimes when I skip forward once I end up in the later half of the movie :eek: and I have to skip back 30 times :p . Strange thing is though that when I have to skip back many times when I then over shoot(backwards) and then skip forward it seems to have learned and just skips forward normally :confused:
