With the play button you can skip to the end of the commercial block. But is there a way to skip to the start of the commercial block? (This may seem a strange question as comskip tries to achieve the opposite...)

Here is why: many of my recordings are like this: <end of previous show> - <commercial block> - <main recorded show> - <.....
With a 'skip to commercial' function, I could easily navigate to the main recorded show.

I'm a newbie to GBPVR, but so far love it. I just have one question. The Zap2it listings do not give me Pay Per view details. Neither did TIVO. Is there a way to get the listings? I can manually record, but there are no details on the shows. I've tried looking through the Zap2It website, but I could not find any info. Thanks

Just wanted to share a way that I found to show an OSD for volume (since I use my remote to control the computer's volume as I'm not using my TV speakers).

Download a program called Sound Control, it's freeware.

It's fairly easy to set up, and you can customize the OSD: position, font, size, volume changing interval, display time...

You assign keys to activate the program's volume changer.. for instance, I picked Ctrl+Shift+U for VolUp, Ctrl+Shift+D for VolDown, and Ctrl+Shift+M for Mute. But now you need to edit the irremote.ini file to accomodate this, so you go into the [Default] section and do something like:

VOLUP={ctrl}{shift}u

Or, I suppose you could put it into GBPVR's section if you only want the OSD to appear while you're in GBPVR.

It seems to work pretty well.. just thought I'd share it since I know a lot of people have been wanting native support; this is the next best thing.

I just added a PVR150MCE (no FM) to my PC that already had a PVR150 retail. The picture from the new card has a slight amount of 'snow' or noise, on all channels, while the picture from the old card is still clear. I've split the analog cable for the two cards, but I've checked straight into each and result is the same.

Is this a signal strength issue for just the MCE card? Has anyone seen a difference in picture quality from these two cards with the same source?

I have some m3u playlists created by CDEx when ripping my CDs. These are non-EXT versions. It's the newest CDEx but it only puts the filenames in there, no #EXT lines. Anyway, selecting the playlist always starts on song 2. If I put a comment line as the first line in the m3u file, then the first song plays. It doesn't even have to be #EXTM3U, #foo works as well. What is expected on the first line? From research on the format it doesn't seem like anything is required.

Does anyone know how to configure gb-pvr or zap2it to use the off-air signals from the dishnetwork guide? I have a HD 811 and the Hauppauge 150 and would like to record the off-air signals but the station numbers on the Dish Guide are weird (ex. 31-2) and I can't figure it out. The 811 is my HD decoder also. I have a habit of watching the hi-def signal while it is recording so that my wife can watch it later, and i just don't want to change the channels after the show starts!

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I get this message in the gbpvr.exe-native.log:

FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: None

I get the same message whatever I have set the deinterlace filter to. Tried running Deinterlace.ax (swag) but it made no difference. I can't seem to find any threads that address this question directly. I've seen it in other people's log extracts but nobody comments on it. I've attached a fuller extract from the log so you can see the "context" of the message.

I'm playing with deinterlace settings to try to get rid of a persistent audio lag. I've tried different audio and video decoders, stopping any background services, etc. but no joy. I see that some people have solved this by changing deinterlace settings. The lag seems to vary its duration (sometimes only just discernable) for no reason I can pin down but is consistently present on all channels and in both live preview and timeshift modes. I'm using the Hauppauge standard (orange label CD) driver. Read the quartz.dll discussion but it didn't seem to apply to audio delay issues. Anything else I should try?

I seem to have asked two questions for the price of one, here. Sorry.

Changed the settings in the recording source to High Quality to see if that would make the image better. First problem is that it would not save to High, would always stay at medium so i decided to set Medium with the same settings as high (high bit rate, etc). After restaring the GBPVRRecordingService, the PC crashed (locked up) so i pressed reset, guess what, it does not boot anymore, it hangs at the Windows XP startup.

Booted in safe mode, changed those settings in the direct.ini file (because i could not start the Config application and then I rebooted normally and the lock up still occurred. This was last night and i had to travel today so i can't troubleshoot remotely. I am sure it must be something around the Hauppauge PVR150 drivers or something that when it loads, it freezes the computer.

Does someone experienced this problem before?

I've just installed gbpvr on my new system and I am getting two different errors that come up:
1) Error:Component has thrown as exception

2) Object reference not set to an instance of an object

I have read through other posts and noticed that the 2nd item is commonly associated with the My pictures pluggin...I don't have that pluggin installed.
