Hi All,

First up.. thanks to all the helpful information on the wiki.. and this gbpvr mediacenter.

I have GBPVR setup with Plextor M402U.. using composite cables.. from TV to plextor and USB 2.0 form Plextor to my Win XP box.

I get good sound.. but no picture at all. I have tried all the possible 'Config' options.. MPEG-2, 1, 4 playback.. using encoder..and not.. OSD.. display frames skipping options..etc..nothing has worked. I've also tried changing display settings.. and that hasn't helped.

Does anyone have a similar setup that they could help me with? What kinda setup do you have?

When I press the green button in live tv and surf channels without changing the channel and exit live TV channel changing fails.

The focus is still on the channel surfing and not the live TV even when the OSD is done. I have to press ok/enter and have the channel change to get focus back.

Minor bug, but it certainly confused my wife.

This happened on both xmedia le and contourHC.

I'm just setting up gbpvr with a MVP and after several days I've got most things to work. However, when I use My Pictures I get the menu of folders and then when I click on a folder I get the error message "Error:Object reference not set to an instance of an object". I copied a picture into the root directory that I set up in the config for the plugin and that plays OK.

I'm currently using BlueMCE2, but I have tried XMEDIA DX and I get the same problem. All version are the latest as I've downloaded them all over the last week or so.

I have copied MyDatabase into the GBPVR directory, but the only entry in the whole database it the location of the jpeg in root directory.

Help please.

Hi!

First of all - I'm very impressed with GB-PVR. Having been playing about with it most of today and greatly enjoying it!

I've done my best to read over all the relevant support threads I can find but there's still one issue in particular that's causing me problems.

First of all, my setup:
AMD Athlon 64 3400+
1GB RAM
Freecom USB DVB-T (using Yakumo BDA drivers)
(also have a Hauppage MediaMVP - very pleased with transcoding once I sorted the framerate issue & network shares now working too )

I've installed the Freecom USB stick using the BDA drivers and have got it to tune in fine (apart from issue 2 below).

The issues are:

1) EPG - I can't get the OTA DVB EPG to work AT ALL. I know some folks got it working partially, just with some bits missing (and were advised to set the program not to do a complete refresh of the EPG) but I can't get it to load the EPG at all. It scan's the muxes, finds the channels and then when it goes to load the EPG it starts working it's way through the muxes (as expected). I find that by the time it gets to the 5th or 6th mux my CPU usage (for config.exe) jumps to 85-99% and it basically seems to just hang at that point. No EPG info seems to be saved at all. I can easily access channels on that mux via Live TV so it's not a reception issue. I tried deleting the tuner and re-adding it but the same thing happens. I've also found that if I just right-click on the tray icon and go update EPG it doesn't even give the same messages re. scanning each mux. I've attached log files.

2) Channels - GB-PVR seems to ignore channels that aren't currently broadcasting. This is a particular issue in the UK where ones like CBBC/BBC3 and CBeebies/BBC4 timeshare and therefore only half are every broadcasting at once. I've checked with TSReaderLite though and the other channel (that's off-air) is still listed in the mux along with a 7-day listing of its programmes. As a side-issue - I also find that some (but not all) of the channels seem to be duplicated - e.g., BBC ONE, BBC ONE (1), five, five (1), etc.)

3) Channel icons - I've read the page on the wiki but I can't really work out how to get these added - any help much appreciated!

Alright, from what I can figure out looking at misc. forums and reading the FCC's dtv web site, in the USA, the FCC is shooting for a cutoff date of analogue (NTSC) for the end of 2006. What I couldn't figure out is whether that applies to only OTA transmissions or cable, also. I'm on Comcast and don't have any set-top converter boxes, nor do I want them. I'm also not keen on the idea that a PVR card I buy now won't work a year from now. Am I going to have to ditch all my VCR's and TV's to avoid the dreaded set-top box or will there be an inline converter that doesn't control the channel (that I could live with), just converts digital to analogue, kind of like a power supply converts AC to DC (I rather doubt that, but I'm hoping)?

I don't trust Comcast tech support to give me a straight answer, or to even know what I'm talking about (the last time I tried to talk to them about different speeds for their ISP service, they were unaware that they even offered different speeds). Ignoring HDTV, which I don't care about, are there multiple standards there for digital broadcasts, kind of like DVD-R and DVD+R?

I was all set to get a PVR-150 to test the waters and then add a 500 once wifely approval had been met. Now, I'm unsure. Does anybody have some clearcut info they can give or direct me towards? Thanks.

Is Hauppauge coming out with a new version of the MVP? It seems to be sold out everywhere!

I have some problems with danish chars. in the name of the file that i want to burn, and i want to know if somebody are using another converter than the Pvas. I have tried the mpgtx from comclean and it reads the input-file fine and it makes 2 files: .m2v and .mp2, but i think i have to end up with just one file: .mpeg for the burndvd.bat
Is this correct or an i missing something?

Are somebody using an alternative to the Pvas in the convert.bat with succes?

I use my phones as portable media players, with 512 meg transflash (microSD) cards.
I currently encode my stuff to 3gp manually, using Nokia's multimedia mobile phone converter.
I'm wondering if there's a way to have my recordings automatically encoded?
176x220 is the screen size, and the Nokia converter looks after it automatically, with the option to specify bitrate, or filesize of the final output.
Any ideas on postprocessing.bat options for this, or any other 3gp encoder?
I can use Xilisoft3gp, or QuicktimePro as well, unless mencoder (or similar commandline encoder) can do it.

I had a little problem the other day during epg update. It updated some of my capture sources but a couple failed. They are all currently using the exact same zap2it account and lineup. The problem occured when I woke it to watch something and the failed updates started again. I went to the tv guide and it blew up with the width equal zero error.

So I got to thinking about epg updates, at least as far as zap2it is concerned. It seems that is should be possible to download the content from zap2it once, then reuse it for all the identically configured capture sources. It appears that now it redownloads it for each souce, which I can see would be easier, and that is when it usually fails with a timeout error. If the downloaded content could be stored in a file locally with a name relating it to the provider and lineup then the download routine could check first to see if the data already was there and check the date to make sure it was current. At the end of the epg update cycle the data could be deleted so that old data was not reused.

Since many users seem to have multiple tuners and I would bet most have at least 2 of those tuners on the same lineup this could not only speed up the epg update process but lessen the load on zap2its servers significantly. In my case I currently have all six tuners on the same zap2it lineup / account. Once I get around to configuring the MCE remotes ir blaster with hip I will have five on one lineup and one on the other since it will use the cable box and be able to record premium channels.



Just an idea anyway. Keep up the good work and I look forward to the next version.

Here's my situation. I have a happauge media mvp connected to my TV. I use it to stream recorded video from my PC to my TV. It's been working great for a couple years now. But, as many have noted, the hauppauge interface is just terrible, with the large icons and all.

So I am wondering, can I use GBPVR's interface through my TV to control the media mvp? If so, how?

I installed GBPVR. But I am only able to use the GBPVR interface on my PC. I turn on my TV and it still displays the ugly hauppauge interface. Am I missing something?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
