This may be more of a feature request than a problem.

Wednesday night I was recording invasion and when I went to look at the recordings later that night I noticed I had TWO invasions recorded. One went from the normal 10pm - 11pm, the other went from 10:01pm to 11pm. I figure this was caused by a change in the program guide information at some time before recording, probably due to one of those stupid network overrun tricks. I remember seeing this happen once before as well.

The problem is that because of the second invasion I missed the end padding on another program and so missed the very end. Yes I checked and because of the way back to back recordings use two tuners I had 6 things overlapping at 10pm.

I don't have any problem with the current back to back recording system, I prefer it since I get the padding (especially end padding) that sometimes can be necessary. The problem was the extra invasion. Maybe in the code that schedules recordings when a new epg update occurs there could be a check for the exact same time and channel and program? Then just keep the larger of the two, the 10-11 version in this case.

Like I said above I don't know if this is a problem or a feature request. Either way I really love the program and am so happy to have a stable, functional replacement for my aging vcr's.

PS. Sub: I coulnd't talk you into bumping the number of recorders up to eight (of one kind, analog in my case) could I? I have one more slot that is just going to waste.

I am currently using Zip Central as its free and simple. Problem is it can't make zip archives with relative paths (like the plugin / skin zips) and the UI is a little annoying.

So looking for a free (or maybe low cost) alternative. Any suggestions?

I'm writing on an epg plugin, but now I'm having problems to schedule reoccuring recordings correctly.

To schedule recordings, I am using the ScheduleHelper.
Scheduling a simple season record works fine as the schedule helper supports TYPE_RECORD_SEASON. But the advanced options like TYPE_RECORD_WEEKLY or TYPE_RECORD_DAILY do not work correctly - they appear as manual recordings in the recordings screen.

I have had a look at what is happening when scheduling a "weekly season" via the built in tv guide. The recording type is TYPE_RECORD_SEASON (5) (!!!), and additionally a new row in the "REOCCURING_EXTRAS" table is created.

I can also see the class ReoccuringRecordingExtras in GBPVR.Public, but I can't see a way how to make use of it.

I have GbPVR set up on one computer and music files on my main system. I can play the music on the GBPVR system from the mapped directory, but when I go to the MVP, it shows the files (My Music 2 plugin), but when I select on for playing I get a message saying the file can't be found. BTW, I don't know much about networking so please be gentle, besides, I'm an old man. :confused:

I'm am using zap2it to get all the epg data, but for some reason, after I "update epg" in the config app, I still don't see any listing in gbpvr. I get an error message something like, "No channels have been set up. Please run the Configuration utility...."

Ive installed the cinema listing plugin its there on the main screen but when i click it i get the error

error could not find file
"c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\skin\blue\cinemalistings\skin.xml"

ive tried to install in the suggested folder but still nothing

Hi all. Just started building my own pc-pvr using this rather cool software that im dead impressed with. Must say it is real cool! Anyway.... Im using this application to record / schedule and record programs from my sky digital box using heenans controller to change channels which all works awesomely however i also use vlc to stream the tv signal so as i can watch it on my laptop anywhere in the house. The problem is that VLC and GBPVR cannot both use the capture source at the same time and hence if im streaming i cant record. Is there anyway I can force GBPVR to kill vlc before starting a recording? I added a batch file that kills it as the pre processing, but its not killed before GBPVR tries to open the capture device and hence GBPVR doesnt record, and vlc closes! Could i maybe use the external recording plugin to record from the stream, but still have the box's change channels as required?

Jeff, I discovered what I think is a nasty bug in what I can narrow down to happening when editing a recording time with the plug-in.

It looks like you're updating the gbpvr.mdb manual end time with the start time.

I couldn't work out why a 10 minute recording that I set through the EPG with a 10 minute post pad had ended after just 4 minutes (which happens to be my pre-pad time).

When I looked in the database this is the timing that I found:-

You can see from the filename that it should have run from 21:50 until 22:00. This is completely reproducible. Set up any recording via the EPG, then use the Videos plug in to edit the padding. The result will be that the programmes timing will now be for the start and end times to be the same thus all you'll get is the length of the padding.

I wasn't sure if this was the Videos plug-in or the gbpvr expose API's so I tried editing the padding via the gbpvr Recordings option and that behaves correctly so it looks pretty firmly in the domain of the Video Archive plug-in.

Fortunately, I'd seen this programme and after the first minute or two wasn't bothered, I was just surprised that it ended soon afterwards especially with the 10 minute padding that I had.

Gbpvr doesn't align to the top left corner when I pressed alt + enter to go from window mode into fullscreen mode. This problem will not occur if i start gbpvr in fullscreen mode. Attached is a screenshot of this issue.

I am living in Europe and was curious if there is any PC satellite card with DVB-S2 and MPEG4 out? If not when will we start to see such cards?
