Like many HTPC enthusiats out there I have invested in an expensive case with a VFD front panel. There seems to be some short commings in the ability of GBPVR to drive such a display types.

I can find two plugins that partially work in this role. I have tried both and found the one developed by Gomer appears the most complete. This plugin however has some problem which can cause lockups when playing back recordings and the thread has now gone very cold. The other plugin by janviet uses jalcd which does not appear to be a stable program and causes problems with due to it's cpu load.

It would be nice to see something that works with lcdsmatie as this is open source and seems capable of driving a variety of VFD/LCD harware types.

i tuned the pvr-150mce with the tuning assistant and the picture was good.
then i went to live tv and it was bad quality and purple any ideas?

s it possible to change the time of Live TV file restarts from the :00 and :30 minute marks.
Some channels cheat and start shows a minute or two before the top and bottom of the hour.
Then the restart blanks the screen during that all important opening segment.

I need some help w/ making some decisions
I recently aquired some Dell Optiplex 110's
2 reg and 1 small form factor
PIII 1.0
Ram 128 - 512 (multiple sticks)
HD's (don't matter too small)

I want to create a PVR/Media PC out of the small form factor but I need to decide on what kind of card to purchase as I only have two PCI slots and No AGP

The SFF is
PIII 933
512 PC100
320 HD (will purchase)
Win2k (or XP if neccessary)
Girder 4 (will purchase)
GB-PVR + remote

I don't know if I should split the TV tuner & the graphic cards but that means in the future I will can't add in usb 2.0 or Firewire support through the PCI slot.
Is there a PCI Capture/Graphics card all in one that works with GB-PVR? I am also 90% positive that I will require a dedicated MPEG 2 Chip on the Gcard as well. It is an odd problem, if I can't use the Small Form factor I will sell them all off and just buy a PVR 150 and use my AMD 64 3000+ 250 SATA Sys (its a big computer though my gaming rig). Anyhow, any suggestions? Comments? etc?

Would be going with the ATI theatre 550 pro for the SFF, but the ones I saw for sale all did not have a video out / or required another Graphics card Directx 9.0 compliant.

Know how if you are recording, and you click on the System Tray Icon in tells you what you are recording and if not, it says Sleeping. Instead of "Sleeping" I'd like if it could tell you what is scheduled to record next and when.

I'd like to try something to save space (besides lowering the recording quality) and thought this may help. The program warns that it is "experimental" but does it still work for most people? Also, about what percentage would each file format lower the file size? How long would conversion take on a Pentium M 1.6 GHz?

Somewhat related: I used to download TV shows that would be about 370 MB per hour and would look slightly better than my 1.2 GB per hour recordings. How can I get results like those of the TV shows posted at Bit Torrent trackers?

Should I expect my recording to look better than when viewing Live TV? Might just be me but they seem to look better, first time I've done some serious recording.
