I just recently installed GB-PVR and love it. There's this small problem, however, which is really quite irritating. There is a listing under the Capture Sources tab in the gbpvrconfig that won't go away. I think this is the reason that my EPG doesn't update automatically like I set it to.
I have to manually Edit my profile (the one I added) and click the Update EPG button (which takes several minutes). I'd much rather get the automatica update working correctly. That's my major concern. An extra Capture Source listed makes little difference to me, personally, but like I said, I assume that's what's causing my EPG to not update.
Here is the name of the listing I cannot remove: Device1-Tuner. I even tried to edit it to the settings I made to my profile so I could just delete my profile and use that one. What happens is I can Remove the profile but when I go to close the config, it freezes up and windows pops up that box of "Program not responding, end now?"
I am using a Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-150, if that helps anything. Thanks in advance for any help!
I have decided that my periodic stuttering is caused by poor signal strength as when i moved the aerial it stopped and was smooth again.
When i used showshifter it had a screen that showed signal strength so you could move the aerial and see how it changed.
Is there an option in GBPVR or have i got to install showshifter to do it?
When i ran GBPVR on my main pc it was faultless so its only since i have moved it. And the loop aeriel is fine as i live in Sandy and can see the transmitter out my window!
Just recently acquired a Pinnacle MediaCenter 310i and due to the dreadful software decided to give GBPVR a go. I managed to get the installation sorted fairly easily (including updating the bda.ini to recognise the drivers) but the resulting picture is unwatchable. The video signal is unstable almost as if there is no video sync (not sure if right terminology). I have had a play around with the various settings (including de-interlace) to no avail. I am new to this, so am I missing something obvious?
I notice in TAB PLAYBACK theirs a setting that says "number of servers to auto start", i have set this to "2".
Saved and restarted, i know SUB has said this is all now in the GBPVR SERVICE. When i restart the PC it looks the same, in an older version i saw a link called "GB PVR MediaMVP server" and when run this HAD to be running for the MVP to work.
Does this no longer need to run on the version i have (latest?)
I still have the shortcuts from updating....
Also when running more than one MVP if i disconnect both then assuming they are given the same IP address on power up will the desktops (menus) be as they was left on each (same goes i spose if a video was in pause and you repowered it)?
- I have had a Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-250 in my computer for over a year and it works great both with the stock software (WinTV and Schedule) and with GB-PVR.
- My media server PC is an Athlon XP 3000+, 512MB DDR, Asus A7N-E MB, 320GB disk (160x2) running Win 2kPro SP4. For the regular PVR stuff, it's been solid for over a year now.
- For Christmas, I bought myself one of the Radio Shack "closeout" MediaMVPs (rev. D3A) and finally got it wired up just a few days ago. The MVP is on a 50ft. cable, wired into a Netgear router/switch. The media PC is on the same switch. The Netgear is providing DHCP for the MVP.
- Running the standard Hauppauge MVP servers, the MVP seems to be working great.
- I recently downloaded the latest release of GB-PVR and disabled the Hauppauge MVP servers, to try out the GB-PVR MVP server. It's booting fine, running the main menu, etc.
- However, when switching channels while watching live TV or whenever I press the "pause" button, the MVP often "crashes" while running the GB-PVR MVP software. It then automatially "reboots" and starts the "contacting servers" all over again.
- Unless I go to the media PC and close/restart the GB-PBR MVP server, the MVP will never reboot.
I have tried a couple of the tricks on this forum (concering the network adapters and editing the registry key to remove the remote task scheduling thing.) Still no luck.
Can anyone give me some pointers on what else to start looking for?
One feature that sound intriguing is remote recording.
Say for example I am travelling to visit family and I realize there is a movie or baseball game or soccer game on that I want to record. It would be neat if there was a way to log in remotely to my computer and tell it to record.
Does anyone know of this current functionality or possiblity of implementation?

OK, I know this is a PVR forum but I thought I would toss this one out. My ~8 year old 32" Toshiba TV suddenly has lost sound on channels 9-12. This is not an issue using the MVP, but it is a problem for non-PVR viewing. It works fine on all my other TVs so I know it is not the cable company. Last night it worked for a while on channel 9 and then the screen went blank for about 1 second and when it came back, the sound was out of sync. Today it is fine on channel 9, but I am still dead (I get video only) on 10-12. I can understand loss on all audio, but can't understand just 3 channels. Also the sync issue is very odd. Any guesses? (My thought is a conspiricy by the TV/cable companies to send out some magic bullet to kill my TV right before the Superbowl so I will pop for HD! ) Go Panthers!
Is there a list somewhere of the commands that the WinTV PVR USB2 accepts, as well as the format in which it sends data to the pc? I don't see anything like that available on the Hauppauge site.
I'm not sure what I would do with such info, though, since the last time I did any programming was in BASIC on a Commodore VIC 20!
dvr through time warner digital cable: i have set up the capture source as an external tuner only able to view ch3 as all channel changes have to come through the cable box.
everything works fine in the actual program with one MAJOR exception: i can record any program braodcast on the dvr, but when i attempt to view live tv, all i get is a black screen.
however, if i view the actual mpeg file, it plays fine and is just what i expected to be...all this suggests that the capture card receives the signal well.
i have tried most setting configurations in the config utility and i have pretty much read the readme's and how to's posted on the site. Any suggestions?
I have 3 different lines running to my Hauppauge 250 w/Fm. When I run GBPVR channnel guide program or whatever it is called, I do get a signal on channel three as expected. So when I attempt to get it running through GBPVR live TV, I have tried using the three different composite in the S-videos and the direct line and still cannot get a picture. Any ideas. I am sure that you are going to say that I don't have it configured correctly or have the wrong card selected. So lets skip the wrong card idea so I will take any help offered. Thanks.
