Hi there, I hope someone can suggest how I can reinstall my 2nd card - a PVR-150 properly. I have a PVR-250 as my first card that is working fine.
Background: I had audio issues with a few channels so I gave the new PVR-150 drivers a try by running an upgrade on the drivers. I got problems with 0 kb recordings on the PVR-150 card and live tv was blank. So I removed the 2nd card from GB-PVR.
I would like to reinstall the 2nd card support with old drivers without affecting my existing pvr-250.
What method should I do this?
a) remove the card and reinstall from scratch?
b) just install the old drivers without taking the card out?

Please realize that I do not know the internal structure of GBPVR so some of these ideas may simply be too expensive. In fact my first suggestion may be such a case.
An Alias directive. The syntax may be something like <Alias name="MyFavoriteFont" value="Tahoma"/>. Whenever the SkinHelper encounters text it does not reconize it would check to see if it were an Alias for something more understandable (recursively?).
Make it possible to define an element in terms of another similar element, for example:
Make it possible to include xml files in xml files. For example, it would be benificial to define identical popups in one file and simply include them when needed.
Where's the best place to find artwork for tv and movies for the recordings? Seems like the one's I use don't show up so well as some I've seen on the skin pages.
I hooked my PVR up to my TV for the first time last night.
The first problem that I had was that the picture was warped and looked terrible. I believe that this was due to my S-Video cable, from my computer to my TV, running along some metal pipes with a bunch of other cables, and I was getting interferance. I later moved my tv right next to my computer and the picture looked great. Do I just need a better S-Video cable that has better shielding?
My other issue was with my video card (Geforce fx5500). When I brought up the guide while in LiveTV full screen mode the audio sometimes would get out of sinc with my video. My computer is at 1Ghz. I have only had the 5500 for a few days and still have a few days left to return it. I think I would like something with a mpeg2 hardware decoder, so that it will take some of the stress off of my CPU (which is running at about 75% during playback). I was thinking of getting the Geforce fx6200 and also by the Nvidea decoders. Will this give me the results I desire? Would the fx6600 give me even better results. Fan noise isn't factor.
The Geforce 5500 is still a great card, I just don't think I have the CPU power.
I'm fairly new to this. I've got an Hauppauge WinTV PVR-350, and so far I have been dissapointed with virtually all of the other software and the fact that it will not make use of its output capabilities. I've read in the fourms here that there has been limited success using this card with gbpvr, one guy was saying everything but the Live TV was working. Anyway, I'm sure that the developer will continue to work at getting this to work the PVR-350.
In the mean time, does anyone have any suggestions on how I should configure gbpvr to work with my card? Is there a way that I can make use of the hardware encoding/decoding, but still output through the video out of my ATI video card?
I have a PVR250 and I capture shows from my local cable company. My cable package is part analog and digital. The analog channels do not require a cablebox and so I have the coax hooked directly to the PVR250, so changing channels on a cablebox for scheduled recordings is not necessary.
For the digital channels I have a cablebox hooked to the 'S' video on the PVR250. What I need is a way to change the channels on the cablebox for scheduled recordings. I have purchased a USB-UIRT for this, and my question is whether GBPVR will work with the USB-UIRT? Sage and BeyondTV both have this capability and is user selectable. Hopefully, GBPVR has something like this that is also user selectable!?
I apologize if I have posted this in the wrong place. I also did do a forum search and found several threads regarding USB-UIRT but they were either over my head or did not answer my question.
I noticed in playing w/ the 150 encoder settings that when GB uses it, it passes a different set of instructions (eg, default bitrate when not watching is 5000, but if I open the encoder settings while watching tv in GB, it is my 4300-5700 setting).
Where are those kept, and is it possible to pass other values?
I am specifically trying to make a change to the Luma setting in the Dynamic Noise tab stick. It is not available through the Hauppague Tweak tool (only accessable through it). I am able to change while viewing, but it is lost on channel change.
I use the COMPOSITE and would now like to use the TUNER as well built into the card. its a UK card and works fine with WINTV
So when i add the COMPOSITE it records what it likes on that one input (i have the BLEB TV for UK but turn the SKY box over manually).
I added the TUNER/INTERNAL to Anologue but how on earth do i add the channels it needs to "tune" to in GBPVR?
The next question is how do i erase the CHANNELS tab stuff or at least reset it, after adding loads this has loads of channels in that i dont have and i cant reset it???
Lastly i want to add BLEB to the new tuner but that means i have 2 x at least 5 channels so how i do tell them apart in the "GUIDE" list?
A "input source" would have been nice to see on this list as well comewhere so you know where your recording from??
This is esp. nice if you have 2 cards so you can name the SOURCE something like "Card 1-Composite" and this would show in the GUIDE and then a channel name so you can select it..
maybe I have not set an option somewhere, but when playing back a recording through XRecord and I press blue on the control, the overlay shows me the name of the mpeg file being played and not the description of the program. It would be nice if it could do this. Is there an option I can set somewhere?
The built in record that comes with GBPVR does it, and it's much nicer to view, but I prefer using XRecord to play back as I like the icons and the arrangement. I know XRecord has access to this information as it displays it before you play the program. It would just be nice to be able to display it during the program aswell, rather than just an ugly mpeg filename.
I am using TV Out ona PVR 350, but bear with me here - I think this might be a bug with GBPVR and not with the card or the fact that I'm using TV Out.
When I am watching live TV, and a recording kicks in on another channel, my CPU goes to 100% and stays there and the picture on the TV screen freezes. The computer has not hung, and I can get out of GBPVR and back to the main menu. The only way to get the CPU back down from 100% is to close GBPVR and restart it.
I can see why this is happening. I only have 1 tuner, and I was using it to watch a channel, but now the tuner is needed for recording on another channel. So I can see why the picture freezes. I'm not quite sure about the reason for the 100%, could be something to do with encoding. On the GBPVR systray program it still says it is recording live tv so maybe there's a race condition.
Anyway, now that I know what it is I can get around it by exiting the main menu and restarting GBPVR. But I think it should really handle things more gracefully. The recording service should stop recording live TV and the TV screen, instead of freezing, should change to the other channel that is being recorded, or else display a message box with a choice to change to the other channel or return to the main menu. That's just a suggestion, I'm sure other people have better ways.
I can replicate this on demand, by scheduling a show and watching live TV on another channel when I know the show is about to begin.
It would be nice if this was resolved, as I don't want to keep a monitor / keyboard / mouse with the system just to restart GBPVR, and I don't want to have to remote in either just to restart GBPVR.
Other than that, my system is now rock solid and it's great.
