ATI have launched a new transcoder. The product is designed to use the graphics card hardware from their upcoming Xxxxx graphics cards to improve encoding rates.
ATI have released the product that will run in software mode only on certain ATI cards. However, some clever bunny has released a version that works with any (most?) graphics cards.
It is ridiculously fast. I transcoded a 900MB mpg to divx in 13mins. Using mencoder, this normally takes 90mins minimum. Not too sure about quality tho and you have no control over resolution, bitrates etc but a simple low --> high slider. This improves video bit rates but doesn;t change the resolution.
it includes a number of different encoders including H.264, PSP etc
I would recommend that you take a look. If you are looking for low bitrate files and value speed over quality, this could be a nice little christmas present for you.

Hi, I am new to HTPC''s and gbPVR. I am having trouble setting up this to watch TV. I have a ASUS-A8N-VM CSM MB( so it has the integrated Nvidia 6150 Graphics card) and an ATI HDTV Wonder Capture Card. In the Config menu, under Capture Sources I have setup the source as a BDA Recording Plugin that uses the ATI HDTV Wonder card along with Zap2IT as the EPG source. Once I click update the guide is downloaded and the channels are marked as enabled. After clicking OK, the Recording Service indicates that it is restarting. Then I go into the software and when clicking on "TV Guide" or "Live TV" I get the following message "No channels have been setup. Please run the Configuration Utility and setup the EPG Source....". When returning the the Config for this ALL of the the channels are no longer enabled.
I would like to have some text added to the .cpf file which comskip generates for comclean2 using cuttermaran. In the CmdArgs section of the .cpf file, it would be nice if the following could be added to the output:
muxResult="false"
This would make it easier to keep cuttermaran from remuxing the file when I forget to change the default in cuttermaran after a manual cutting. And if you are really energetic about this request, it would be nice if the value of the muxresult CmdArg could be set in the comskip.ini file. (But I know this is asking alot).
Whether you decide to make these changes or not, I still think the comskip and comclean2 are great tools. You always provide great support for questions in the forum. Keep up the good work!
I wonder if its possible for GBPVR to load the EPG from a STB (such as Dish Network, directv, etc) through the low speed data port to bypass zap2it's high latency charateristics. This would be a good addon to GBPVR.
When I play music through the MVP there is a fairly loud snap/pop/click at the very end of each track. This doesn't occur when played on the PC.
This occurs with Music Library and with other music plugins so I think it's something generic about playing MP3s to the MVP.
Just upgraded from v0.93.xx to 0.95.16 - and now GBPVR.EXE keeps restarting I can see from the task manager - and basically nothing works.
What can be wrong? I have 2 x MediaMVP boxes trying to connect. I have tried switching them off and rebooting my PC - without luck. I can't even start GBPVR locally on the PC.
is there anyway to have gbpvr change the channels for recording off a Dish Network 301 box. i can have it record something but i have to change the channel manually with the dish remote.
Thought I'd muddy the support forum up with a positive post. Since upgrading to 95.16 I have had exactly 0 problems. No more of the occasional "contacting servers" on my MVP's, the screens on the MVP's are snappy, and everything is working exactly as expected. This app and all the plugins (thanks to all the plugin authors!) are maturing nicely. I'm even thinking about taking the new PC you said I HAD TO HAVE (gotta have a reason other than myself) that I bought as a family present back. Ok, not really but everything is working so well I'm starting to question whether I really needed to spend the money right now with all the other expenses. Give me some support, tell me how the next version you're going to do like Microsoft and require a monster machine just to make the main menu come up so I really need to keep it On a side note, the pc I bought came with MediaCenter, how humorous!
I have a scheduled recording (3 episodes) sitting in pending without a poster but the episodes it has recorded that are in ready do have a poster (not sure where it came from). I've tried the stop/download but it won't find one. Where does it store the poster for pending?
