Are there any resources out on the web for people wishing to customize their display for use on a TV? There are lots of little annoyances (mostly involving fonts that are too small) which should be fixed with an XP theme with fonts and colors designed for display on a TV.
I have searched the posts with no luck so here it goes. I downloaded my pictures and my database as instructed. I added my pictures in the plugin section of the config utility with no problem. I cannot however go into any of the plugins and get to the settings? All the plugins show up but remove and settings buttons are not accessiable! Right now if I open my pictures from the main menu I have it directed to open Picasa2 so it is working that way but that is not how i would like it. I'm sure there is something in the posts already so even a point in the right direction would help.
ok i installed my videos with all the pre req and configured the bat files. my only issue is getting my dvd to burn my recordings to a dvd.... i can get mydvd to see the recorded files, i just cant seem to access the meneu to add it to a dvd to burn....if that makes any sence... im using a haupauge remote (45 button) and when i selevt the recording in my dvd and hit go the only options i get are play and back and if i press meneu i get to teh main meneu

I would like to ask some attention for two tuning parameters that may require adaptation when you are using Comskip on NTSC, Comcast or with some noise on the signal.
You can check if the black level has to be adapted if you do see the letter 'u' more often then the letter 'b' below the word 'cut' in this part of the log file.
The tuning guide specifies how to tune the black level.
If you are completely uncertain how to do it and you have NTSC or Comcast I recommend the following setting in the comskip.ini file.
max_avg_brightness=25
Do some experimenting with verbose set to 5
As a result you should see much more 'b' then 'u' like this

When Comskip fails to spot some commercial blocks at all this may be because you have noise in the signal.
You can check this if the block list in the log file is very short (less then 10 blocks) on a typical USA recording with at least 2 commercial blocks
In that case you may want to use this setting
non_uniformity=1000
or with a lot of noise
non_uniformity=2000
This may seem like a dumb question but I cannot quite fathom exactly what GB-PVR might be capable of with my setup. I have an MCE2005 box with 2x GDI BlackGold DVB-T cards. The PC is upstairs and main TV obviously in the lounge downstairs.
I want to be able to view Media Center recordings (DVR-MS), MPEG2, AVI and MP3 files that reside on my hard disk on the main TV downstairs. I don't want to use a Media Center Extender as they are too expensive and DRMd up to the eyeballs. I have looked into video-over-CAT5 but again, quite pricey.
I think I have decided to buy a Hauppauge MediaMVP and was wondering what GB-PVR will be able to bring to the table that the MVP can't already do? Does GB-PVR give me the ability to play extra file formats (DVR-MS)?
When updating my zap2it subscription, one of the question was this:
4. Most Zap2it Labs users have scheduled their download to occur in the middle of the night/early morning (12:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., Central time). This creates a concurrency problem.
We would appreciate it if you would schedule your downloads for late morning, afternoon, or evening, as this will (a) reduce load on our servers, and (b) give you improved performance.
o This isn't a question! Why am I selecting a choice?
o Because we just want to emphasize the point that rescheduling your downloads for 9 a.m. to midnight (Central) will improve everyone's lives.
o Okay, sounds good!
Would it make sense to make the GPVR deault to a time outside of this congestion? Those who still prefer their download at a certain time can still change it. Those who don't care or are unaware of the default time probably won't care about the change either.

Special thanks to NightWalker. This really is his update. NightWalker took the time and effort to do a detailed review of the Collection skins. He created a markup version and included detailed documentation of his changes.
While my own focus has been on moving things away from the screen edges because of over scan, NightWalker has a special need for maximizing viewing ability.
His end result is a greatly improved utilization of the display area, larger fonts, and resoration of information lost in previous versions of The Collection.
As with many execellent improvements, many may not notice the changes, but everyone will feel them.
