I'm going to be reinstalling windows.
Is there a prefered way to save all my scheduled recordings, config, settings, zap2it info, anything else i'm forgetting, etc and restore it after reinstalling windows?
I recently ordered two PVR-150's because of the IR control they have.
Further reading has taught me that the PVR-150's from Hauppage can not be controlled individualy (ie. zoned).
What are my options for controlling two SAT boxes from Dish network at the same time?
From my reading I think my options are:
Use USB-IRT in conjuction with one of the PVR-150's IR emitters and select the appropriate control for each sat/pvr150 component.
Use the Zone function of the USB-IRT to control the two dish boxes. (does GBPVR support the zone function of the USB-IRT?)
Is this possible?
Is it possible to blast the two dish boxes with discrete codes? Dish1 or Dish2? Do the dish boxes support this? One is a Dish 2700 and the other is a Dish 4700. This would allow me to use one blaster for both.
Hi guys! I have recently started using GB-PVR as a replacement for the Hauppauge UI for MediaMVP. The Hauppauge UI is so poor and laborious that the MVPs have been pretty much unusable. With GB-PVR, at last I can use them!
So, firstly and most importantly, well done on a brilliant UI. Hauppauge should be paying you for keeping MVP alive!
I've been visiting SHS's Hauppauge site for some time trying out improved UIs. I'd come across GB-PVR a while back, but didn't consider using it as it seemed to be centered around the PVR cards rather than the MVP.
I've had an old-type Hauppauge Nova-T PCI card for longer than the MVPs, but only recently were drivers released that I believe (and hope) will work with GB-PVR. It was this that persuaded me to try GB-PVR, and discovering that that it is sooooo much better than the Hauppauge software just for running the MVP regardless of any PVR card.
So much for the background. Now to my wish.
I need to be able to navigate around quickly and smoothly. Consequently, Page-Up and Page-Down are vital. I can use them from the keyboard with GB-PVR running on my PC. But, for Music Library and Video Library, I can't get them to work on the MVP using any of the buttons on my 34-button Hauppauge remote. I looked at the key mapping files for music and video, but neither have the functions defined. (Well, music does, but these look like they've been added, and I guess it's for Music Album as I was able to remap them fo that.)
I have successfully edited the key mapping files for the "My Pictures" and "Music Album 2" plugins, and have Page-Up and Page-Down working on the MVP for these. So, is there any chance of making Music Library and Video Library (in base GB-PVR) use mapped keys for Page-Up and Page-Down so I can map them to buttons on the remote. (Perhaps they are already mapped, but just not in the mapping file. If that is the case, can you tell me what they are called, please.)
The working of Page-Up and Page-Down is clearer (IMHO) if the last entry on a screen becomes the first entry on the next after a Page-Down (and vice-verca for a Page-Up).
Finally, when an entry is selected, Page-Down seems to use that entry to determine the paging rather than the first/last visible line in the pane. I fond this confusing. I'd like Page-Up/-Down to be relative to the pane and not affected by the location of the "cursor".
Sorry to go on, but, as you can probably tell, speedy navigation is very important to me for usability. The MVP is sluggish at best, so needs all possible mechanisms that help moving around faster.
This is my first post, and I'm still getting to know GB-PVR, so forgive me if the answers are already available or obvious.
I've tried DVDRipper and My Videos, but can't rip my DVD'S. With DVDRipper, if i choose iso or file I get a file not found error, almost like it can't find a utility? Are there any docs on how to setup the addons that DVDRIPPER or My Videos require, and were they should be installed
During my experiments with the tray icon project, I noticed a couple of things about the auto-start versions of GB-PVR that I wanted to pass along.
First, the GB-PVR sessions that are auto-started don't show up in the task bar (which is great), but I'm still seeing a window in the ALT-TAB program list. I think you can get the window off that list by setting it's "FormBorderStyle" to "FixedToolWindow" which would be nice if you have some time.
Second, when the Config tool restarts an auto-started version of GB-PVR, the tray icon from the previous instance is still visible in the tray until you mouse over it. I was hoping to find some way to tie into the shutdown process so I could manually remove the icon, but haven't figured out how yet. It doesn't look like the destructor for my plugin gets called during this particular type of shutdown, or am I missing something?
I spent some time playing around with a System Tray icon for the MVP and got it basically working using the IEventNotification interface.
I was wondering if there's a way I could hook into some of the MVP traffic so that I could display a "connected" versus "not connected" state.
I tried experimenting with the ICommandListener interface to see if that might generate lower level events messages but no luck. I couldn't find anything in the API that related specifically to the MVP, so please let me know if I'm overlooking something obvious.
I was considering using the Application.AddMessageFilter() approach that KingArgyle used for BleepBloop, but wasn't sure if MVP requests would be detectable that way.
I'm still seeing inconsistencies with the auto-transcode feature. I have it set to autoconvert dvr-ms -> mpeg2 using ASAP for the timing.
I just set 4 test recordings going on my Nova-t sources - one from 16:55 to 17:40 and the other three all from 17:00 to 17:30 (1/5 mins pre/post padding on all).
The GBPVRConvert.exe-native-3.log consists of just this and nothing else...
Code:
17:35:08.562 INFO Log started
17:35:08.562 VERBOSE SOURCE:D:\GB-PVR\8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter\8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter_20051026_17001730.dvr-ms DEST:D:\GB-PVR\8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter\8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter_20051026_17001730.mpg TYPE:MPEG-2 RECORDING_OID:4268
The mpg file didn't get created and the dvr-ms file still exists.
The -2 and -1 versions of the log show log started times of 17:37:08 and 17:39:08 respectively and show DB updates and successful transcode completion entries. In both cases the mpg files look OK and the dvr-ms files are deleted. Similarly the latest version of the log shows the 4th recording being successfully transcoded etc. starting at 17:45.
I checked Task Manager to see if there was a 'stuck' instance of the GBPVRConvert.exe running but there wasn't. I also opened the mdb to see if the programme oid was still in the [transcode_queue] table but it was gone.
Would it be possible to have a small TV window in GBPVR? Like a preview.
Let's say you're watching TV and you want to check the weather. You hit Menu then you go to the Weather tab. While you're checking the weather, you have a small window on the bottom left corner showing the TV show you're watching.
Or like when you're watching TV and you want to setup a recording in the TV guide you hit menu but you still can watch the show on a TV window somewhere on your screen (so you don't miss anything while you're doing other stuff)
