Am I missing a setting? Seems like if I don't use the npvr overnight I have to restart the service. Otherwise, when I click on a channel to watch Kodi displays the channel name for a few seconds then goes back to idling, sometimes the "failure to play" error pops up.
Restarting the service corrects it. The server is set to never sleep. Both tuners are affected.Ubuntu 19.04.

Going crazy trying to get Nextpvr working on live tv atsc. The :8866 web page comes up just fine and Ive got zap2xml.pl working fine with TVGuide but when I select a channel to view it says"Streaming Failes Transcoder exited". The nextpvr logs in ./nextpvr-data/logs are all empty as in 0 bytes. Im using a Hauppauge WinTV Dual HD usb tuner and Sapphire Nitro+ 570 video card in a mini itx uefi system. Any suggestions on where to look, how to get logging working, any pointers at all would be greatly appreciated.
Ive been using the same set up under Win 7 Pro since MS broke the epg for WMC and I really 'like' NextPVR, especially after spending hours setting it up, it works quite well and in combination with Kodi it is a serviceable replacement for WMC. Im done with windoze.
I was wondering what the file permission, owner, and group should be for nextpvr user data folder and sub folders? In my case the folder is located at the default location /var/opt/nextpvr. Somehow I messed up the permissions when restoring a backup of the folder and the nextpvr folder became inaccessible, even to view the contents.
Hi
I ensured no services running, removed old NPVR app (which leaves some parameters standing), downloaded and installed NPVR V4, and proceeded to adjust settings. Devices were unchanged but new channels were added.
On maybe 5 or 6 occasions, a re-boot was forced. On the last occasion, I could no longer fire up NPVR.
H/W is Windows 10, cordless mouse and keyboard, TV as a monitor.
Hi,
My NEXTPVR machine is currently running MS Windows V7 and NEXTPVR V4. As Microsoft are ending support for Windows 7 on January 14, 2020, I am considering moving the NEXTPVR machine over to Ubuntu and NEXTPVR V5. My current setup has windows installed on a separate drive to the recordings. Both drives are NTFS formatted. I have some spare hard drives, so do NOT need to update in place, however I am not sure I fully understand how to move the recordings over from WIN7 to LINUX.
I would appreciate comments as to whether the following would work:
1. run 'export recordings' on the WIN7 machine,
2. run the script referenced in this forum to correct the filenames for LINUX
3. install Ubuntu on a new drive
4. replace the Win7 boot drive with the Ubuntu drive
5. Install drivers for my Hauppauge WINTV-quad HD capture card
6. Install NextPVR V5
7. Import recordings form the XML file with the corrected filenames
8. Copy my recording files to a new hard disk formatted using a linux native format (i.e. not NTFS)
9. Make sure NextPVR points to the correct location of the recording files.
One thing I am not sure of, is how do I export / import my recurring recordings list (or is this part of the XML created by the 'export recording' option in NextPVR)?
Many thanks for your help, it will be greatly appreciated.

I have version 5 running on Win7 64bit, then tried to install it on two different Win7 32bit machines, but could not get it started. No user-public-data folders are created so I don't think there are logs yet. The first 32bit PC asked for DotNet 4.6, which I installed, but did not help. I am attaching a pic of the error message. I'm not sure what dependencies are missing.
I got the same error with 5.0.1.191224 and 5.0.1.200103. There may be a problem with the zip file since Microsoft.Data.Sqlite.dll has an invalid date modified.
FYI the 64bit and 32bit download links on the GitHub page appear to be the same.
I upgraded to the latest version and now I don't have a channel list in settings where I can change the guide source. Guide still works and channels are playing fine and the scheduled recordings are firing off with no issues but I need to update some channels on where to look for guide information. I'm praying I don't have to start off fresh.
