ts.map Files & File naming glitch in Kodi
Posted by: Lao Pan - 2020-01-10, 01:19 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (4)

We are now using v5 full time on Windows 8.1 - deleted v4  for the New Year and have been noticing a few oddities.

After deleting programs there are ts.map files left behind - causing the folders to remain - there were also about 60 of them in the live TV folder. Should this be added to the delete list in config.xml, or should they not be there in the first place?

Using UK Freeview for OTA program guide, it now appears to be picking up the Season / Episode numbers on some of the series.
In Kodi it is placing them in the correct named folder, but the actual program name is being changed to for example: S01E02-S01E02, with none of the original program name - which can be a bit confusing.

Also occasionally the NPVR service is getting stuck - upsetting Kodi and the tray icon turning grey. Windows still says the service is running, but it requires a service stop followed by a start to get things moving again. Shortcuts for that (as per v4) would be useful.

  EPG description offset with knewc
Posted by: baj1 - 2020-01-10, 07:11 AM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (5)

This one has me scratching my head.  On my NextPVR server, in Videos, the EPG show description in the right panel matches the recording selected on the left.

If I go to the same show folder in Videos on my ODroid N2 via knewc, the EPG show description in the right panel is for the recording above the selected recording on the left.

Any thoughts to what's going on here?

Thanks,
-Brad

Channel is on same frequency but different SID
Posted by: DrAnarchy - 2020-01-09, 11:16 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (19)

Hello,

I am using nextpvr 5 windows version with HDHOMERUN tuner.

Scanning the channels work fine except that there are 2 channels running on the sanme frequency but different SID

For example
Channel 1: req:570000 SID:17
Channel 2: req:570000 SID:16

I cannot do an auto scan of channel 2 as it refuses to detect the SID:16 and will always pick up SID:17 only.

What should i do to use SID:17?

Appreciate your help.

  Recording Defaults?
Posted by: rjbeep - 2020-01-09, 08:00 PM - Forum: macOS - Replies (2)

Hi folks,

Is there a way for me to set Recording Defaults for either the "Record Series" or "Advanced" buttons in the Web interface?

In the advanced GUI, we have "default" as an option for PrePadding, PostPadding and Directory and I can set the values for those defaults in the Interface Settings panel.

I'd like to be able to do the same for "Recording Type" and "Keep" as well.

Best trivial example I can give is for Season Recordings... 99% of the time when I click "Record Series", I'm looking to just record New episodes. I can set that up by clicking "Advanced" instead, but Advanced is defaulted to "All Episodes" (which I expect includes re-runs). Simple to change it, but now I'm up to 3 clicks compared to one click if I could set the default to be "New Episodes" for the "Record Series" button.

Again, this is trivial stuff... no complaints here. Just checking if there is a config file I can hand-edit or such to set up to work to my preferences for all the recording attributes for those button options.

thanks in advance for any tips!
rjb

Screen changes to Black when I right click
Posted by: AVRFrank - 2020-01-09, 05:24 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

I have loaded NextPVR to my computer and it launches and I get a picture but when I right click on the screen to get to setup or channels the screen goes Black and displays "TV Viewer mode-right click for controls and is locked on that screen.

I have already already tried deleting and re installing but same thing.

No config.xml so cant change port number.
Posted by: Red5ive - 2020-01-09, 01:10 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (3)

Just about to try V5 alongside my current V4 setup but falling at the first hurdle.

From the install instructions it says to set the <Port> setting in config.xml, to something other than 8866 so as not to clash
only I don't appear to have a config.xml anywhere to change it.

Under the data folder there is a 'Config-master-dont-edit.xml' and in there there is a <Port> setting but changing it there makes no difference, neither does making a copy of that file, renaming it to config.xml and leaving it in either the data or root folder, the server only opens on port 8866.

I'm sure its obvious but any help?!

  New TBS tuner and error
Posted by: arrbee99 - 2020-01-09, 04:23 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (19)

Just wondering if there are any thoughts on something I'm doing wrong with a new tuner I bought.

Its a TBS6902 twin tuner. So I installed it and added the driver, which seems OK, I went into NextPVR and adjusted the LNB settings and it found and added 33 channels on Tuner 0. I then went to do Tuner 1 but it offered to transfer settings across so I did. I updated the guide. I tried to watch using tuner 0 and it doesn't show anything, in Chrome think it said something about transcoder failure. If I try to watch the same channel using tuner 1 it works fine. In the server window it says something about 'Root element is missing' if thats connected at all.

I only have one aerial cable for now so have to swap connections at the back of the computer for the two tuners.

Not sure if the latest logs are any use, have been rebooting PC at various stages...

NextPVR - Failing with HDHomeRun Quatro
Posted by: guyinco6nito - 2020-01-09, 03:04 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

Hello,

I've built a new recording station using Windows 10 LTSB 2016 (like my old recording station that worked just fine) but I'm having a heck of a time getting NextPVR to work with my new HDHomeRun Quatro.

NextPVR can find the devices, it can scan the channels, it can download the guide from SchedulesDirect, but when I try to watch Live TV or schedule a recording nothing happens. The Log says:
 "non-existant capture source: 20"

I first encountered this with the latest NextPVR 4.2.5 with my old first-gen HDHomeRun device (which worked just fine on my old recording station).  I then hooked up a HDHomeRun Quatro hoping that the newer device supporting DNLA might work, but I had the same problem.  Then I downgraded to NextPVR 4.2.2 (which I was using on my old recording station) and encountered the same problem!

I've tried the advice here: https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?tid=54068 and changed the BDA Compatiblity mode in HDHomeRUn setup to be Default and MediaPortal but there was no change.  I tried disabling the Windows Firewall and there was no change.  I know the device works because I can view the changes from the HDHomeRun Setup tool, and because NextPVR is able to scan for my channels just fine, however I cannot tune or record them.  I've attached my logs, is there any chance they indicate some problem I missed?

Thanks much for any advice you can provide!
Have good ones,
-guyinco6nito

  System resource use very high
Posted by: adwsail - 2020-01-08, 10:29 PM - Forum: Linux - Replies (16)

I noticed my live TV plays very well but the system resources seem really high, the process table says 32-34%. The system load is in the mid 90% range with nearly all of it being 2 instances of ffmpeg. So I checked resource use while playing a prerecorded video. That yielded 33% for the first ffmpeg and 27% for the other with dotnet pulling 3%. The system load is >95% on a quad core Intel i3 3225 running at 3.3Ghz with frequent drop outs and freezes. And that load is across all 4 cores. So I closed the browser and it is still using 34%, server still running, in the process table and a system load of ust under 40%, again the main load is ffmpeg. This seems to me to be wildly excessive.

Doing a server restart but not opening the browser and no scheduled recording occuring, the ffmpeg isn't even using enough. if any, to register. The system load at this point is < 2%. Starting the browser and going to 127.0..., results in the system load being a little bit higher, maybe 4%. Starting livetv and it jumps to 31% ffmpeg process and ~40% system load. Playing a precorded show the single ffmpeg process jumps to 67% with a system load of just under 70%. At this percentage playback is solid with no skips or pauses. There is no second ffmpeg process at this point.

Is it normal for ffmpeg video systems on linux to be such resource hogs?

  Download Channel Icons
Posted by: rjbeep - 2020-01-08, 10:25 PM - Forum: macOS - Replies (11)

hi folks,

using the latest 5.0.1.200103 release, quick question please...

I just signed up for Schedule Direct's 7 day free trial to see if I get anything more than I'm getting out of my xmltv provider.

Guide data works great and program info seems to be at least as good as what I got from the other source.

Since I have the trial, I thought I'd also try "Download Channel Icons" and this is where my question comes up.

Click the button, get the expected process going and see the .png files being downloaded in the terminal window.
See 52 .png files in the .NPVR-data/media/channels directory... all good so far.

but the icons never show up in my Guide or in the Channels panel.

I can upload logs at some point when I get home, but thought I'd throw this quick question out in case I missed a known issue in my searching, or if this feature isn't expected to work running on a Mac, etc.

Any info you might have is appreciated.

thanks all!
