i used those prerelease drivers and it worked great. used to be sound would cut out following a recording, last night with 4 back to back recordings, i had no sound issues. there is a little bit of a rainbow effect at the beginning of a recording, but i don't know if it is driver related or not. but that so far seemed to fix it.
I'm using GBPVR to view DirectTV wired from the DirectTV box (which contains a PVR) through a Hauppauge WinTV-PVR 150 MCE [which comes with no software] running on XP Home. Not certain that I'm doing this optimally, but I've setup only one channel on GBPVR and am actually changing the channel on the DirectTV box using a UHF remote. It works, but I may not be getting the most bang for my buck--any advice appreciated.
My question: I can view the recordings on my DirectTV PVR easily enough on GBPRV (just use the DirectTV remote), but I can't figure out how to CAPTURE those shows onto my computer hard drive using GBPVR. (Essentially move things off my DirectTV PVR and onto my computer hard drive.) Best I can tell, GBPRV can record something that's SCHEDULED, but in my case (especially since GBPVR thinks I only get one channel), I'd have to "dupe" GBPVR by telling it to record something off that channel (that is the same length as the show I want to move off the DirectTV and on to the computer hard drive) and then start viewing the DirectTV PVR at the same time. (And repreat for every show I want to move...!) I'm sure there's a better way...
1) I installed windvd 7 platinum last night. When I play DVD through GBPVR it says that I can't watch this DVD because of parental control.
I have no parental control set up in windvd. I also checked windows media player and no parental control was set up there either.
I can play the DVD's through windvd just fine.
2) Has anyone experienced problems with volari v3 video card during video playback. Everytime I use hardware acceleration(windvd or powerdvd) I get jumpy pictures. When I don't use it it works fine. I am using 9.0b quartz.dll.
Would it be possible in a future edition to be able to set the priority of the mvp server to "above normal" just as has been done for the recording service
I normally use task manager to do this and it pretty much gets rid of all the odd mvp disconnections
but it is not always easy to ensure this has been done if I am not at home when the system is switched on
i wouldn't mind if it was a config option if other people do not want this little work around
I have successfully configured xDVD, and it is working great, but it is not playing loud even if you turn up the volume of MVP to the max and TV's volume to 3/4.
Following up on alot of hand ringing over system instabliltiy and a lot of issues that I never was able to really resolve, I'm thinking of trowing in the towel and going with a new box with win media center pre-installed... Tiger Direct is selling a remanufatured gateway media center machine with all the bells and wistles for $434 and I'm really temped to go that route...
Nothing against GBpvr - in fact I'm a "donatar" - and have had alot of fun with the software... but I've also been responsible for teaching my children a few new swear words along the waym -- AND also note, that I'm inclined to be thinking the faults were hardware related anyway...
But - now faced with having to get new hardware - and having the opportunity to get media center included - I believe that maybe it's time to get a system that will be working out of the box with microsoft confirming that everyhting will work together...
What are your thoughts? Without judging the software involved too much, will getting a box "designed" for media center, with media center, help get me a more stable system that is less of a toy for me and an appliance for the family?
I'd love the functionalty to:
1) When browsing the TV Guide, just select a program and press "Record" on the remote and it would do a "quick record" just like going to the sub menu and selecting the menu item. (Play might start playing a show that's running.)
2) When in the recordings screen, one layer down (i.e. "inside a show" where the episodes are shown), pressing play would start playing, eliminating the need to go into the sub menu and select play there.
Nvidia MPEG2 and CyberLink PowerDVD: Recordings plays back choppy, not constantly, but every minute or two it seems like the image jumps. Live TV (not in timeshift mode) is much worse with choppiness every few seconds.
Intervideo WinDVD: Live TV and Recordings play smooth but the video quality is horrible. Recordings playback so dark that I can barely see anything in some scenes.
Elecard MPEG2 Codec: Live TV and Recordings are smooth and a little brighter then Intervideo WinDVD codec, but still too dark, and lots of lines through the video as if de-interlacing isn't working.
I would try the InterVideo NonCSS Video Decoder for Hauppauge if I knew where it was, but I'm guessing my 500MCE card doesn't come with a MPEG2 decoder since it's the MCE edition?
I've tried using VMR7 and Overlay Manager for each of those, and I also tried replacing the Quartz file which helped with choppiness, but did not eliminate it. I followed the steps on the Playback Wiki page, and yes Windows Media Player plays videos smooth and very nice with Nvidia MPEG2, but VMR7, Overlay in GBPVR make only a slight improvement to playback, still no where near WMP. FFDshow is not installed.
