Hi there. Whenever i update my EPG there appears to be nothing in the guide. The funny thing is that it seems to update ALOT quicker now after pressing update. is there password issues???
all of the sudden, i'm having problems with sound. Livetv will lose its sound, but everything else works (recorded files, dvds, etc). Usually to fix this, i have to do a regedit and remove the last volume key and then restart all instances of gbpvr, or a restart of windows. this started only recently happening out of the blue. any help?
Okay, I need some help determining if my setup will work out:
I have a PC that I am going to put a PVR-350 in, and use as the gbpvr box. I want to then connect this via the 350's TV-out to the tv, (i should be able to watch TV on the TV like that, right?)
In another room, I plan to hook up a mediamvp to the system and use it to watch tv there.
I would like to have gbpvr only active on the TV-out, and not on the main display of the PC, so that I can still use it for basic internet browsing and word processing.
Okay....I'm having trouble with configuring my system. I am trying to use my external fta receiver as my source with a pvr-350 capture card. Would like someone to explain exactly how to get things up and operational. Here are my questions:
1. Which output from my receiver should I use? Coax or S-Video? I'm
currently using s-video, but what about audio?
2. My recording source is set to "Direct Recording".
3. Under "Settings" for Direct Recording I have specified my pvr-350 card.
4. Country: USA
5. Board Number: Capture Device #1 (I only have the one device)
6. Channel Changer ???? With s-video external tuner I get my fta menu
but no sound or picture.
Not sure where to go from here. I have EPG set up but of course I can't select from it since it's not connected in any way with my receiver. But I would like to understand how this can be done.
First, however, I want to be able to get picture and sound. Any assistance would be sincerely appreciated.
In my EPG, I have a show that is scheduled to start at 8:59pm. I want to record that show and the show the occurs right before it. I have not found a way to resolve the conflict. I could record the first show and set a 60 minute post padding but that is quite a hack. I need a way to set a -1 pre padding.
I would like to MUTE the master valume on my sound card when exiting MyAlbums 2. If I don't then the TV records also play over my whole house speaker system. Any ideas?
At first I thought I was out of luck getting a MediaMVP Localy because the RadioShack I was at didn't seem to know how to check their inventory correctly. Anyway I went to another RadioShack that didn't have the MVP but knew how to check the inventory for the other store's and he located a store that had 2 left. It turns out that RadioShack has discontinued selling them so all remaining units are on clearance for $40!
So if you want one, go to RadioShack. If they don't have one, have them check for other local stores that do and have them hold it for you.
So I've got listings and live TV working, but I can't get recording working properly. There's some kind of wierd path issue going on...
I've got my recording path (I:\ShortTerm\pvr) set in config, and when the recording service starts, it gets the recording path properly. But when it tries to start recording, I get an error about it being unable to "find a part of the path" of just the root of the drive (I:\). But it still continues as if it is recording. See the attached log for what I mean.
Sometimes, when this happens, I can restart the recording service, and it will start recording to a file with no extension in the gbpvr directory (which is on a different drive entirely.) But it doesn't do this consistently.
If anyone could point me toward a solution, that would be great.
And could the powers that be on the forum please add .log to the supported extensions list? I don't see what the point of making us rename the files is.
I thought I would post the details of a problem I just worked through, just in case someone else runs into it.
This all happened I was first trying to set up the EPG for my capture source; I first tried to set up xmltv listings, since I had already signed up for a zap2it labs account and set up xmltv's tv_grab_na_dd to get listings for use with my other apps. When I tried to update the EPG, it would get through the "Reading XMLTV Listings" step, but during "Saving new listings and channel information", it would pop up something along the lines of "ChannelFactory::StoreChannels(): unknown error".
When I closed config and re-opened it to try again, my original recording source had disappeared.
A quick trip to Google, and I found the only hit in the old forum about ChannelFactory::StoreChannels(), which was talking about a different error, but one that looked like an SQL error message. On a hunch, I found the mdb and opened it in Access. Although a big mess of tables showed up in the listing, when I actually tried to open any of them, I got a message box saying just "Unknown", and an Access crash. Luckily, I happened to tell the error reporting to do it's thing, because the online crash analysis actually came up with something! That's only the second time it's ever been useful for me, in however many years of using XP, but both times it has saved me a lot of footwork.
It had picked up a knowledge base article (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=905530) that described a different problem, but as it turns out one with the same root cause (and a crash at the same address -- the reason that OCA picked it up).
So, I followed the instructions and did a quick
regsvr32 msjtes40.dll
in my Windows\System32 directory, to reregister the "Jet Expression Services" dll. After a quick check with Access again, I fired up Config, set up my EPG again, and my listings loaded flawlessly.
I am new to all this although I had my Hauppauge PVR350 for a while. I only ever used it to watch TV. Recently I have attached a freeview box and I am feeding the signal into the external tuner of the pvr350 instead of the antenna box. The antenna box is now connected to my vcr which I like to use to capture my vhs collection and convert it to dvd.
I have tried capturing live tv and from the vcr with the wintv2000 software that comes with the card (although I have installed the latest version from hauppauge.de), but I get these stripes when there is sudden movement in the recording. i was told it might be an interlace problem but I don't know how to fix it.
With gbpvr i dont get a picture at all. The software keeps telling me that I don't have drivers installed for the device i want to use (hauppauge pvr350).
when I click on live tv it says that i dont have epg configured although I have a channel list from Bleb UK imported nd saved.
I have read through the wiki page but I have no idea what I am doing wrong.
Any help appreciated!
