  Missing programs in EPG
Posted by: Beaky - 2005-09-20, 06:56 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Dear all,

I'm getting a really annoying gap in my EPG, same time every day only on ITV1. Everything else and all other channels are fine. From 5:30am to 9:25am in the morning is the problem time. I've had a look at bleb.org (where I get the epg from) and copied the lines that make up that time period below.
The only thing that stands out is that all programs start with a time and then a description but at 6am there is more than one program on the line. I'm not sure if this is significant or not but I'd really appreciate some pointers in how to sort this out...

Many thanks, Colin.

  New Nvidia dual tuner card

Please see this http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/PureVideo/

I hope sub is going to add support for this card, it looks like a winner.

  Choppy Video = Insufficient Hardware/Drivers?
Posted by: Miles Teg - 2005-09-20, 05:12 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

Hi,

I just tried to set up a pvr, and I ran into some really crappy performance (video unwatchable due to skipping/stuttering). Now, I want to fix it as cheaply as possible, so I was hoping someone here could help me with choosing the best course of action.

My current stats are:

Athlon 1Ghz
512MB Memory PC100
Diamond Viper V550 (TNT1) 16MB
SoundBlaster Live!
Windows XP

[EDIT]: Also:
Hauppauge PVR 150

One thing that might be a huge problem is that I am using the default driver for the TNT video card (apparently there is no windows 2k/xp driver for the TNT anymore). Sadly, I don't know if this will affect the MPEG decoding. My guess is yes.

Anyway, what should I upgrade to fix my problem? Is this box just totally insufficient or what?

Thanks,
Miles Teg

  Upgrade Procedure?
Posted by: tevbill - 2005-09-20, 05:05 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I possibly missed something obvious but I can not find the upgrade procedure on the WIKI or forum.

I'm running 93.10 and want to upgrade to the latest gbpvr while keeping database information, currently scheduled recordings and plug-in settings if possible.

In the config I have the plugins TV Guide, Live TV, Net Radio, Weather, Xrecord, XSearch , Xguide, Shutdown and Videos checked. I'm also using an MVP.

So what I assume would work is
1. Backup the existing gbpvr directory.
2. Download and install the new version
3. Download and install the plug-ins above

And will I still maintain my current database, scheduled recordings and plug-in settings?

  Analog & Digital Tuners
Posted by: mark1982 - 2005-09-20, 04:34 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (1)

Does any one know if it is possibly to use two different tuners i.e. an analog tuner (for Sky STB) and a Digital tuner (for Freeview).

if someone has manages to do this please let me know or if anyone knows how to do this again please let me know.

  Help! noob here.
Posted by: fanaa - 2005-09-20, 03:57 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I have a K-world Xpert PVR 883 card, which has the Conexant 883 10 bit chipset. Is this card compatible with GB PVR? The card works fine, but the PVR software it came with is a bit lacking in features, so I was hoping GB PVR would be an improvement. I'm having trouble setting up the card. Can anyone tell me which recording source I can use with this? I'd appreciate any help.

  Automatic transcoding priority
Posted by: gabeweisz - 2005-09-20, 02:47 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I'm about to upgrade from v93 and am interested in trying out the automatic transcoding to Divx or WMV - does this process run at low priority by default? If not, is there any way to force it to run at low priority? I'm currently running a script from my postprocessing.bat to force the conversion to happen at low priority, and would like to maintain that. If it doesn't work, can I call GBConvert.exe myself from postprocessing.bat (or another batch file)? I'm currently using mencoder for transcoding but haven't been happy with how it runs and would like to try an alternative.

Who here considers "the wife factor"?
Posted by: ydekmekji - 2005-09-20, 02:44 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (28)

As I've followed posts here for months, I've realized that many of you are in the same shoes as I--we want GBPVR to be better and are rooting for Sub and the plug-in/skin developers because of "the wife factor". Basically, that our wives tolerate the hours we spend on gbpvr because the end result is worth it, but that they are always a little suspicious of spending so much time.

I'm curious to hear how many of you here are always considering "the wife factor" and I'm curious to hear your story!

For me, my wife was very skeptical, and when i was spending several hundred dollars building this system, she had no idea what I was doing and was very much cautious in spending our money for such things. But, 8 months later, she loves it. In fact, she boasts and shows it off to friends and family. She has learned to use it pretty seamlessly. The one thing that i have to make sure to keep tabs on is the hard drive space and to clean out the system regularly so that when she goes to record, it doesn't flop on her!

  OSD Keyboard without x-Plugins ?
Posted by: Cape-City - 2005-09-20, 01:44 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Does an OSD Keyboard exist in the Standardversion of GB-PVR ?

I have some Problems with the xGuide / xRecord / xFind Plugins, so it would
be fine to have this in the standardversion aswell, for better find something
in tv guide or change the name of the record when schedule it ...

I found something in that way in the blue skin, but i dont know how to activate
it or does it exist ?

  Sleeping/Waking PVR - options?
Posted by: kevin_c - 2005-09-20, 01:22 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

Hey all!

Getting my PVR all nicely setup, and it's working very well so far.

I'm wondering what options I have to have it automatically sleep/standby/turn off, and then start up when it needs to do something.

Do most of you just leave it on all the time, or how do you manage it?

Wondering what approaches there are.

Thanks
