I had made a Outlook Plugin in the past that was not that successful. I am considering another wack at it however I need to learn from my mistakes.
What would people like to see? Will people use it? I figure one of the things that caused problems was outlook. This is what I am thinking.
It would be nice to have a contact/calendar plugin. Having its own database (a lesson learned). I can always write a hook to import from outlook.
Maybe layed out like xrecord.
Contacts
Appointments
Schedule Appt
On the right.
You can create reoccuring appointments (weekly, monthly, yearly) or one shot recordings.
When a appt is fired it will appear in the Appointments category. If it is over so many days old it will be automatically dismissed. Otherwise the user can dismiss it.
You will be able to create appointments and contacts in the app itself.
A Panel will be created to show the upcomming appointments (birthdays and anniversarys) on the main screen.
2 command line apps will be built. One will import from outlook the other will determine what appt have been expired and which ones are now pending.
On the PC, when you hit <esc> you leave GBPOVR, that's fine no problem, no drama.
But viewing GBPVR on the MPV, hitting the back button just one too many times (which is easy to do, as the MPV is slower to react) exits the GBPVR screen, and the MPV Connecting to Servers Creen comes up. There are no errors on the PC and it reconnects fairly quickly, but in the previous version AFAIR it didn't seem to do this.
I have the EXIT Plugin unchecked, but it still does it. It's a bit exasperating waiting for it to re-connect every time, esp if you are watching liveTV.
Is this by design or a glitch on my behalf? If it is by design, is there way to force it NOT to go back that extra step?
I have a small request to make with regards to the Videos plugin that comes with VA. Specifically, the name of the Videos folder. The name is a misrepresentation of what the Videos menu truly is, a complete replacement for the built-in Recordings menu. The fact that I use the My Videos plug-in just compounds the problem. My wife has no idea which menu to use (Recordings, Videos, My Videos). It really confuses the hell out of her. Would it be possible to rename the Videos folder to My TV, TV Recordings or some other clever moniker that better reflects what the menu actually does?
Could someone with administrative access to the new wiki copy over the tutorial I wrote on the second post of this thread? I'd really like to make sure that this information is preserved since configuring HDTV devices is somewhat manual and sub has a tendency to prune the older threads in these forums. TIA!
I can't seem to get the DVB EPG working. I'm using a Nova-t PCI and HVR-1300 (but only the Nova is currently set up in GB-PVR). Channels were found (using scantype 2 - scantype 1 gives me an error) but I don't seem to get any EPG data, even after selecting Update EPG. Is there anything that needs setting up?
Is a specific version of psisdecd.dll required? (I'm using MCE2005 whereas most people probably have XP SP2 with KB896626)
whats new (well from the alpha)
- "Save Image", you can now save webimages to a specified dir.
- "Navigational Transistions" - similar to mediaportal (just look and see, you can turn this off in the "settings" feature)
- animated gifs
- zooming works perfect (thanks to smeghead) and theres a little navigational graphic in the corner (similar to xbmc) (yes i rip things off.....)
- music track info in fullscreen mode, display the current music track (if onscreen display is turned on, or when a track changes (for about ten seconds)).
- KeyMappings is used to specify the keys used in my pictures.
- Popup menu in "Fullscreen" mode, (where you can find the "save image" feature)
- "music" added to popup menu, which listed every .m3u playlist in a specified directory, also if a .jpg/png/gif file with the same name is found that will be displayed
- rewrote the entire thing
whats not done
- the skin needs to be tweaked, especially the onscreen display stuff (the fullscreen stuff).
- i think thats it
im pretty sure this version is pretty good, and shouldnt have to many bugs in it (hopefully ive included all the files you need, if upgrading from 2.1 or 3.0 alpha).
if anyone wants to tweak the blue skin for me that would be great, i hate doing skin stuff.
WARNING: you may need my music for this to work (maybe), you will definitly need the MyDatabase.mdb file, the mypictures.mdb file will no longer work (it looks up track information, thus needing the music tables).
also any newbies shouldnt try this straight away, give it a week, chances are there bugs. (theres one i know of, but its a really small one that will hardly be noticed (like maybe twice in your lifetime)).
so yeah enjoy.
oh ps chances are nothing will be changed in the skin, well anywhere, just bug testing now, so if you want to update your skins go ahead.
