Hello. I am trying to get GBPVR working using a MediaMVP. The MVP is working with the default software, but not GBPVR. GBPVR is working fine with the PC as a client. I have started the MVP client part of GBPVR. Is there anything else I need to do? Do I need to be running a local DHCP server or anything like that? What log file should I be looking for? The MVP hangs where it says COntacting MediaMVP BootServer for a while, then goes back to Contacting DHCP server, then back to BootServer...
PS Maybe this should have gone to the MVP forum.. opps, can anyone move it to the proper forum?
I finally was able to get it so that i can access my computer/gbpvr remotely. My next thing is to try to make videolan work so i can watch things remotely. I use videolan, and it opens up to like the first frame and that's it. Then i can move the cursor down adn it gives me a split second of the new frame then freezes. So basically, it doesn't run continuously.
1. How to fix this? or
2. How to save the stream on another computer and watch it off the hard-drive?

This is an interesting effect. Possibly add a 'Quick minimize' mode to tv mode or video player as well, so if you need to quick exit (temp.) you could click a button "Quick Minimize" and it would minimize BG-PVR, YET have the video/tv video still instead be showing as the desktop background, so if you need to quickly do some work or browse some quick news, this would be very nice to add. If possible.
If not using VMR7 or vmr-9 (because if any limitations if any, maybe use Overlay then at least.) If not possible, or just because of being too much work involved. Just thought this would be VERY usefull, i use it when playing videos/DVD's with WinDVD. Comes in VERY handy. Just a thought at least.
That would be nice to have different icons. Like at least i renamed both to properly match, as it makes more sense to have the icon red when recording (most formats use this.) and green when not recording. Thats an easy fix, but maybe have this a new default, it seems the more logical formatting.
Sorry, folks I always manage to cock something up on release day no matter how hard I try...
It seems a couple of last minute fixes werent included the final v0.94.7 release I package up earlier today. I've just repackaged it and verified the correct files where included. You can get the new package from http://www.gbpvr.com/GBPVR09408.msi.
Also, you'll need to switch back to hte standard 'blue' skin to skip developers a chance to update their wares.
As with all releases, I recommend you do a backup before installing this release.
From the change.log:
Quote:
2005-09-13 v0.94.7
- Added support for using the EPG that is broadcast with DVB transmissions. Please note, you have to be using the default <BDAScanType>1</BDAScanType> for this to work. Those that changed to <BDAScanType>2</BDAScanType> will not be able to use this feature.
- Fixed a bug with auto detecting the the encoder/mux filter on the ATI 550 Pro
- Added a slight delay into the FM Radio scan function, as some users werent able lock on to radio stations correctly - this may help.
- Added ability to alter the keys used on a per screen basis. See the KeyMappings directory for XML files that define this. I've implemented support for this for all the internal screens. If plugin developers also want to support this, they should use the new KeyCommandHelper class. I'm happy to provide more details about this if anyone wants to know more.
- Fixed a bug with the new logic to retain recording information when the linked capture source was deleted.
- When you're in the search screen you can press the blue key to bring up a free text title search. It's a bit of hack, and pretty primitive, but it gives you some more options if you need them.
- Fixed a bug with ratDVD playback
- Fixed an bug with cancelling recordings from the TV Guide.
- Minor changes to MVP DVR-MS support.
- Added .avs file extension to the list of files that can be played by GB-PVR.
- You can now plugin a different MVP transcoder by creating a Trans2MVP.bat file. First argument is the name of the file to be played. The second argument is the name of the temporary MPEG file.
- Added a 'remove channel' button in the capture source settings.
- Net radio song changes are now sent as notification events.
- Added functionality to call ParallelProcessing.bat when a recording starts if the file exists.
- Added <ForceFMBufferingMode> setting to config.xml to force GB-PVR to buffer FM radio (as was done in releases prior to v0.93).
- Added API for plugin developers to be able to start live TV.
- New 'processing' tab in config app, with several features...
+ Ability to configure system to use either Comskip or ShowAnalyzer
+ Ability to configure Comskip/SA during the recording
+ Ability to configure automated conversion of MPEG2 to WMV/XviD/DivX. WMV seems to the most reliable transcoding. xvid/divx can be quirky depending on versions of filters installed etc.
+ Ability to configure automated conversion of DVR-MS recordings to standard MPEG2, or WMV/XviD/DivX. See comments above regard WMV vs XviD/DivX.
...If you're an MVP user, I recommend you stick with standard MPEG2 files since this is the only native file type the MVP can play. Anything else would require on the fly transcoding back to MPG format, which is less than desirable.
- Added logic to run ParallelProcessing.bat when recording starts, if the file exists.
- Added logic to dynamically reload the comskip file when it is updated, which is usefull when you're running Comskip/SA during the recording
- Fixed a bug where the screen saver picture wouldnt move on the MVP
- Added an auto fine-tuning for Hauppauge PVR cards to work around missing audio reported by some PVR150 owners
- Fixed a bug that could result in gbpvr.mdb being renamed old.mdb
- Applied latest Web Admin changes
- Channel number now passed as second parameter to PostProcessing.bat.
- Fixed a bug that could lead to an Object reference not set error when using live tv with encoder pass-through.
- A few changes to the filter logic used in GO7007SB device support
Could someone explain how the FF/RW functionality is SUPPOSED to work please? I'm trying to understand how to pose my next question if in fact it's a bug compared to how it's actually working on my machine.
Right now, when i hit the FF button, it doesn't really do much of anything but pause a split second, then continue with no audio (discovered that gb-pvr auto sets the WAVE volume to 0 by itself, every time, and have to manually bring up volume and click the level back up again), it doesn't skip back at all, no matter how many times i hit the button after each other. And "Software MPEG-2 Playback", changing any choice filters doesn't seem to impact at all of this happening.
Now, when i use the "Use short skip instead of FF/RW", it still accomplishes what i need it to do, just not the same that a video player NORMALLY does it. So it's not a real big deal, but i would like to know if FF/RW is supposed to actually work, or do anything when in Timshift mode, or is it more for useage when playing back a video? If not, this is a bug with my setup. Using WinXP,PVR-250,Audigy2 card. All latest drivers using.
I attempted to watch an in-progress 1 hour recording this evening, about 30 minutes into it. I ran into difficulty when I tried to skip forward past the opening commercials... it wouldn't skip and the time on the on-screen timeline showed it was just seconds in length. I checked the file it was writing to, thinking that perhaps it didn't start on time, but it a bit of a gig in size, appropriate for 30 minutes of video. It seemed to be recording fine but the timeline was inaccurate.
Additionally, anytime I interrupted the playback with a button press like pause, FF or stop, the app would seem to freeze about 20 seconds. When control returned the timeline would be updated about the same amount of time (though it seemed like a little more) and I'd get to a place where I could skip a minute or so forward. Again, pressing skip would end up causing the system to hang for about 20 - 30 seconds, but then would continue.
No errors or anything in the logs, though there are several places with 15-30 second delays in-between calls to SetPlaybackRate(). Perhaps those are my attempts to FF since I couldn't skip. I tried to post the log but it was too big. If you're interested I'll email it to you.
This is the first time I encountered this error with any release. Playback otherwise was fine.
As always GBPVR is a great program thanks to Sub and the plugin developers.
I'm occaisonally having GBPVR lockup while watching livetv. I was watching Monday football and about 2 hours in the picture froze, the remote would not respond though I could hear "beeps" everytime I pushed a button onthe remote. I eventually logged in via VNC and did a ctrl-alt-delete and was able to end task GBPVR.
Not sure which logs are applicable but from gbpvrrecordingservice.exe.log :
9/12/2005 6:33:05 PM.315 INFO [36] Running postprocessing.bat on: D:\MyVideos\Good Eats\Good Eats_20050912_18001830.mpg
9/12/2005 6:37:06 PM.732 INFO [36] comskip has completed.
9/12/2005 11:00:46 PM.500 ERROR [35] Found expired lease. Stopping recording.
According to GbpvrTray the livetv is still being recorded, I checked and the mpeg is still growing so it is
That would be cool to have an options menu come up when you hit record when in live mode instead of it just recording.
IE-Right now it just starts recording. Instead, a window choice would come up, "Record now, Record til end of program". So when you want to record something your watching but need to exit out if your need to do something else, your not stuck with nothing recorded by having to exit out, go into the guide, and select Record show, like you do now.
So My Videos issue cleared up miraculously after I installed power DVD, but I encountered a new issue.
GBPVR won't let me record all episodes for the season. I looked at the log, but am not sure what it is/isn't doing right. It is attahced for reference. Any help would be apprechiated.
