  Double entries in recordings menu
Posted by: Darx-starz - 2005-09-08, 10:31 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I have just installed an extra Nova-T so that makes it 2 * Nova-T and 1 PVR350. Latest version of GB-PVR. When I do a season record I get double entries in the recording menu. When I search each show comes up twice. Like this: Any ideas why this is so? I can do a quick record on the same show twice and it will record it twice.

  Crash with Digital Channel Mapping
Posted by: monks1975 - 2005-09-08, 10:13 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Don't know if this is any help. Just had a crash when attempting to map a channels to one in my bleb xml channel list. This was just after retuning on all frequencies to try and add more channels. Had to end GBPVR task and restart

XP sp2; Nova-T/BDA drivers (2.106.23151.0);GBPVR (09310).

Regards,

Jon

  Impressed so far
Posted by: monks1975 - 2005-09-08, 10:10 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Just tried GB-PVR after trawling through all the other frontends seeing what they were like (thinking of putting a new box together for the basement). Have to say that GB-PVR is the best so far. Feels (fairly) solid; very good setup interface; doesn't feel too 'in your face' or flashy...but slick. When I first started playing with it I knew it was good. Thanks for putting it together!

Enough of the compliments- I do have some questions Smile

I'm using a Nova-T (new revision) with the Hauppauge BDA drivers; Nvidia FX5200; NVidia mpeg2 codecs; VMR output

Anything I can do to improve tuning? It's a rooftop aerial + Booster.
I'm using Ridge Hill in the UK as the setting, and it doesn't pick up the full range of channels that MythTV did (seems to vary as to what muxes are picked up). Sometimes rescan brings up no channels found at all.

Channel change is about 4 or 5 seconds. Is this more a BDA driver/Nova-T problem? Myth dragged its feet on channel change and so did every other Windows frontend so may not be something you can help with.

Will search in the EPG beome more sophisticated. All I really want is a search for Films, or category or genre search.

Is there any difference in the recording quality modes if you are using a DVB card like the Nova-T?

Cheers,

Keep up the program, I'll promise I'll donate.

  poor sound quality on dvd's
Posted by: dougt1968 - 2005-09-08, 09:54 AM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (4)

I sometimes burn recorded tv shows onto dvd usins the my videos plugin. The end result is excellent video quality but poor qualtity, tinny & hollow sound.
If i play back the recording from hard drive it is perfect sound so it must be losing quality in the authoring process somewhere.
Any ideas anybody?

EPG grabbing directly from DVB-T stream
Posted by: Cape-City - 2005-09-08, 09:09 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hi,

is it possible to grab the epg directly from the dvb-t stream ? at the moment
i`m using WebEPG to generate the needed xml file for the epg. But the epg
comming with dvb-t is good aswell and i think it would be a bit faster to grab
as via internet ...

Some short time after a recording is started, could the recording service check that the file has non zero size, if not kill that recording and try again ?

  Closed Captions (USA) with MVP?
Posted by: BobLafleur - 2005-09-08, 04:01 AM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (4)

I'm thinking of getting an MVP. But my question is, will it pass thru the closed captions (USA) for recordings or live TV so that my TV will display them?

My current GBPVR is not connected to a TV. CC's do not show on my computer screen (obviously, because the video is displayed through the computer and GBPVR does not decode CC). I recorded a show and then put it on a DVD using Nero. When I played the DVD in my stand-alone DVD player, my TV did not decode any closed captions. I don't know if GBPVR did not record them, or if the process of putting the show on DVD with Nero lost them.

Before I purchase an MVP, I want to know if I'm going to get closed captions. If not, then the MVP (and probably GBPVR) is not a viable option for me, as we need CC in my house.

My tuner is a Hauppauge PVR-250.

Thanks,

- Bob

Possible VA + Weather plug in bug?
Posted by: daphatty - 2005-09-08, 02:35 AM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (3)

This is a shot in the dark but here goes.

Over the past several weeks I've noticed a strange behavior occuring while watching recorded video through GB-PVR. Every so often the video I am watching will slow down and then speed up in an effort to resync itself with the audio that kept on going. I've noticed that this occurs roughly every 10 minutes which coincidentally is the time interval I had set for my weather plug-in to update.

The only reason I even suspect the VA and Weather plugins is because I've noticed some rumblings about the VA Panel and resource management. Anyhow, if anyone else out there is using both of these plugins, could you keep an eye out for this?

Please Help I need to cancel season recording

I have a show scheduled to record for a whole season but I can't figure out how to cancel the whole thing. I have already recorded 5-6 shows and I don't want to record anymore. I am probably overlooking something extremely ease but help would be appreciated. Thanks, awesome site.

  2nd TV card... PVR-250 or PVR-500?
Posted by: BobLafleur - 2005-09-08, 12:41 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (1)

I have a setup now with one Hauppauge PVR-250 card. I'm thinking about getting a 2nd TV tuner card. I could get another PVR-250, or for about the same price, I could get a PVR-500.

Apparently the PVR-500 is just like two PVR-150's. So, what is the difference between the PVR-150 and PVR-250? Some people have told me that the PVR-150 doesn't support MPEG2 hardware compression, but from what I've read, it does. So what's really the difference?

3 tuners would be nifty, although 2 will do if the PVR-500 is just going to be a headache in the long run.

System is an Athlon 64 3200+. 1GB of RAM. I might decide to transplant the PVR into my Pentium4 3.4 Ghz (overlocked to 3.8 Ghz), 1GB of DDR2 533 RAM, fast hard drive.

On Hauppauge's site I really can't tell the difference between the PVR-150 (and hence, PVR-500) and PVR-250.

I bought the PVR-250 initially over the PVR-500 because the 250 had a remote control and the 500 didn't. Now that I've got the remote through the 250, I don't have a problem getting a "remoteless" card for my 2nd card.

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.
