With padding, what happens if one show finishes at 1830, and another show starts at 1
Posted by: jonmck - 2005-08-23, 05:56 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I like to use 10 mins pre and 15 mins post padding.

What happens if one show ends at 1830 and another starts at 1830?

GBPVR does not pick up any conflict - but will the second one not miss the first 15 mins?

Thanks again - customer support like no other!

  Windows MCE eh*.exe
Posted by: Doozer - 2005-08-23, 05:11 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

Sorry if this was posted elsewhere, I couldn't find it when I searched...
Here's my problem: I installed gb-pvr on a PC running Windows MCE 2005. Everything works great, except when I start my pc, I need to go into task manager and kill off any process that begins with eh (ehtray.exe, ehrec.exe, etc...). Based on the help files I found for WinTV (I have a hauppage 350 card), these are related to Windows media center and cause a conflict while trying to access the tv card. So my question is how can I prevent these executables from starting with windows?
Thanks,
Paul

  updating pvr 150 drivers.
Posted by: scott - 2005-08-23, 04:58 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (9)

I reciently updated the drivers on my pvr 15o following instructions on Hauppauge's web site. I ran HCWclear to remove all drivers AND winTV applications.

I installed the new driver and stuff: PVR INF files: pvr150_inf.zip, WinTV-PVR Update: PVR150_22_22292.exe

BUT I missed the section on the bottom where it says: "You will also need to install #1 the latest WinTV2000 Application, #2 the latest Hauppauge Video decoders, #3 the latest Hauppauge remote control application and #4 the WinTV Scheduler ."

My question is - which of these do I really need to run gbPVR? After the HCWclear, I've only installed the latest Hauppauge remote control app. System appears to be running fine without having reinstalled anything else.

When things aren't broken, I tend to like to leave them be, but I'm wondering if I can improve my system by installing the Hauppauge Video Decoders... Or if there is some other reason to install the branded decoder?

note that since re-drivering, I seem to have lost the ability to use VMR7 and now run in overlay mode - Maybe that's related to the lack of the Haup video driver?

Thanks!

new system - go with MVP or TV-out video-card
Posted by: scott - 2005-08-23, 04:43 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (4)

Hi everyone - With Dells at sub $400 prices (w LCD panels!) I'm think of replacing my somewhat tempermental homemade system with a new box.

My question. Should I upgrade system Video card to one that includes TV out? Or, of the same money, get an MVP and allow that to push signal to the TV?

Both options have advantages and disadvantages -No Itunes control through TV screen with a MVP. But MVP would allow me to remotely locate a noisy PC out of the living room.

What other things should I concider? Is MVP one more thing to go wrong? Is MVP's output better/worse that a cheap video card with TV out.. etc... Thanks!

How to enable skip fwd/back in MVP?
Posted by: venger - 2005-08-23, 03:49 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (11)

Hi there,

My brand new MVP arrived today ! Smile

aaahh.. the smell of new toys....

Anyway, I decided to use a wire instead of wifi and in no time, got my MVP all set up...

After initial testing, my issues:

(1) I can't seem to skip forward on a TV recording (BDA card). My skip fwd is set to 3 mins. Everytime I press the skip fwd, all i get is a blank screen, and i have to reset the MVP unit.
Using the Hauppauge software, I can happily skip fwd and back with no problems.

(2) I have got 2 TV - first TV is getting the video from my PC (MVP server) 's TV out port. Second TV is via the MVP.
Is this an OK setup?
Reason I ask is coz I am using HIP to bring up GBPVR on my first TV.
But if MVP is already running a GBPVR instance, HIP tries to bring up the already running GBPVR instance - which is incorrect. What I need to happen is for HIP to ignore the first instance of GBPVR (for MVP), and start up a second GBPVR.
Can anyone think of a workaround?

(3) Divx files
I have tried to follow that long running "MVP and AVIs" thread Smile
So not wanting to revisit it all, are there any common tips that I could use to improve Divx playback?
I find that I can't play certain divx files (the others were OK).

My Progams- Can start emulator but no .lnk
Posted by: Dun - 2005-08-23, 03:43 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (2)

Hi,
I'm using GBPVR for few month, it's a great program, and I still want to add new features using plugins.

I'd like to configure "My Programs" to start a .lnk link to a program. I tried a lot of shortcuts and params but no one start in GBPVR, I've got the "Loading" message few seconds, and GBPVR back to the My-Program plugin.

The emulator part of the plugin works, I can start epsxe for example.

I'm doing something wrong ? Is there restrictions on type of applications that can be started ?

Thanks for advance.
Sorry for my english

Posted by: sanj101ca - 2005-08-23, 03:04 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Reason being I want to watch the shows on my xbox(XBMC) via wifi...the mpegs stutter...xvid is no problem....if you could explain in laymans terms...or have a config file I can download which will have the settings needed...I want to view the converted videos on a regular 4:3 tv.

Thanks,

Plugin watch liveTV or active recording
Posted by: jrockintuitive - 2005-08-23, 12:58 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (10)

After using the great piece of software called GB PVR, here are my wish list items

1. Allow a plugin to "watch" live tv
2. When watching a show that is recording allow ff/rw move the specified amount based on the config setting.
3. Create a preproccessing.bat file - or something like that. As soon as the show start to record run the batch file. I would like to put comskip in here.
4. If a batch file is run as soon as a program start to record, it would be nice for the system to update itself as the comskip text file is altered. Maybe every commercial break, or ever minute.

Thanks for considering my wishlist items.

  Error: Unspecified Error !!!
Posted by: Jaster - 2005-08-23, 11:59 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hi there,

I recently bought an AVerTV DVB-T 771. Contrary to some reviews that I have read on the 'net the hardware of this card is actually pretty good. I managed to install the card and software in under 10 minutes and it detected every available UK digital station, even with a signal strength of under 60% from my poor ariel.

However, the software that came with the card is not so good. Although it allows you to watch and record tv at reasonable quality it lacks any other features and only has a very basic scheduler which doesn't work anyway!

Whilst browsing the 'net for third party software i came across the GB-PVR site Big Grin .

GB-PVR is EXACTLY what i was looking for (for my new media/entertainment box). After reading through the site I realised that my card was not tested or officially supported Sad but after a bit of perseverance i managed to get it reconized through the software renderer plugin.

I now have the problem that everytime I click on the LiveTV button I get the error message:  ERROR: UNSPECIFIED ERROR

Please could someone tell me what this means and/or tell me if there is a better way of getting AVerTV cards to work with GB-PVR. Also I am a complete noobie when it comes to TV cards but from what I have read I think that the AVerTV DVB-T 771 is a DVB-T card with WDM drivers?? Is this correct or not

Thx in advance:

Jaster

Two GBPVR's - Can they work together?
Posted by: shaamone - 2005-08-23, 11:26 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (10)

I bought a Compro Videomate T200 (DVB-T card) with the aim of plonking it in my epia M10000 setup that sits under the TV to reduce the amount of cables and freeview decoders I have lying around. It turns out the M10000 just doesn't have enough grunt to power the Compro card, it constantly pauses every second or two..

So.. I've decided to put the Hauppage 250 back in this machine and hook up the external freeview box again, which seems to work fine.. However, now I'm stuck with a redundant DVB-T card..

I've setup the compro card in my desktop machine upstairs and it works away quite happily so I've thought I could install GBPVR on this machine too and control the epg over the network, which made me think - is there any way of telling this second gbpvr machine to work from the same epg as my downstairs machine?

Any ideas would be appreciated Smile
