The ability to skin numbers on playback.
Posted by: reven - 2005-08-19, 07:19 AM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

the onscreen display is fully skinnable apart from one thing:
- when you type in a number eg '5' it appears in a black rounded rectangle in the lower left corner.

now you wouldnt really need to skin this, its a small thing, but its cut off on my tv because of overscan.

so i wish this was also skinnable, or atleast a tag in the config.xml file for its position (which there probably is already knowing sub....).

  Getting Hauppauge PVR150 & PVR150MCE to work
Posted by: linfor - 2005-08-19, 06:08 AM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

They both use the same driver so I installed the PVR150 (the 150MCE was already there and working). Setup the 2nd tuner. But I cannot see both tuners at once and only 1 at a time will do audio. That is if I get audio on the 150 to work, the audio on the 150MCE dies. If I look at picture it is like the 2nd tuner is not there. Singly they work fine but joint is a problem
Tried setting them both as tuner 1 and also tried setting them as 1 and 2 with no results.
Can anyone help

  CDK scheduler and CaptureSource attribute
Posted by: LilY0da - 2005-08-19, 04:09 AM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (13)

Ok, been playing around with this, and whereas it works when I have only 1 or 2 days stored in the EPG, when I store my full 7 days, then CDK scheduler starts moving shows from one capture source to the other.

What I was trying to do was to force all recordings to go to one single capture source, so that I could keep my 2 PVR-500 tuners for FM radio and LiveTV.

http://kragone.free.fr/PriorityRecordings.xml
And http://kragone.free.fr/PriorityRecording.log

I tried with every possible value of CaptureSource (my tuner OIDs are 2, 3 and 4). Can someone let me know if I'm doing something wrong, or if this is a bug/feature?

  Remapping keyboard commands?
Posted by: Sunfox - 2005-08-19, 03:56 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I don't plan on using a remote with GB-PVR, just a keyboard. Is there any way to remap the current list of commands to new more ergonomic keys? I understand that they're currently mapped to work with the widest range of remotes (likely designed for Media Player), but for keyboard use it's more than a little awkward.

Yes, I did search the forums and found a post with a link to a non-existant post, thus my question. :-)

GB-PVR - Media MVP and an unsupported vidio card?
Posted by: tevbill - 2005-08-19, 03:01 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (4)

I put together a PVR system with some leftover parts.

Biostar MB with AMD 1.3ghz processor
384mb ram
40gb Maxtor HD
10bm Ethernet
SIS 6326 AGP <<< (ancient)
Sapphire Theater 550 Pro (new)
Xp home
GB-PVR

Its working quite well, even the unsupported SIS graphics card produces pretty good results although I have to gently persuade the picture show up when starting live TV or a recording and can only run in windowed mode.

My question is: If I were to add a MediaMVP to this setup, it really doesn’t matter what video card is in the PC, right??

I would like to use the PC with GB-PVR as a server and only view it from the PC “console” when needed.
Does anybody know of any reason that this would not work?

Thanks
tevbill

  a couple basic questions
Posted by: muskgrave - 2005-08-19, 01:41 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

well i've been bouncing between gbpvr and media portal and as soon as i got media portal set up correctly (or so i thought!) it started recording files in dvr-ms format and the resolution was way off spec...hmm so back to gbpvr and the new version. The stuttering audio/video seems to be gone! That was the main thing holding me back in gbpvr..i now have a couple questions:

1) Is it possible to turn offtimeshifting? I don't really want it filling up my drives with buffered information as i really just use the program as a dvr to record certain shows at certain times.

2) Do the programs queue'd up for recording still record if just the GB-PVR service is running? Or do I have to have GB-PVR up and running as well?

thanks

  Multiple Season Records
Posted by: pcostanza - 2005-08-18, 11:23 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I think I've seen this mentioned before but not an answer. I have set 3 season records and it was set to 'this time slot, this channel'. However, 2 of the 3 constantly record every occurance on that channel and I have to check regularly to cancel them in advance.
I've deleted and reset the season records but the first 2 programs keep doing the same thing over and over. What causes this and better yet, how to I fix this?
Thanks
Paul

  Music Player and the MVP
Posted by: tkgafs - 2005-08-18, 11:11 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (7)

Over time I have pretty much tried all the music plugins as this is really my main use of gbpvr and my mvp.

They all have good points and bad points and my favourite is still the jukebox it did one simple thing really well with no frills.

Most peoples problem with it seems to be that because of its age it only has minimal skinning capabilities, I have never really seen skins as particularily important, surely most of the time you are watching a recording or listening to music hence you dont see the skin.

My biggest problem with all the music plugins when they are working on the mvp is getting them to start before the MVP times out and goes to contacting servers.

I have a fairly large music collection [around 8000 tracks] and the plugins all seem to scan a large chunk of this before they start playing anything and quite often the mvp times out before the plugin starts.

I pretty much always play music randomly and use "music player" as my plugin of choice to do this now which works reasonably well if I start the plugin up wait about 1 minute and then press the green button to go to jukebox mode, in other words give it time to get some tracks read in, before starting it up.

What I'd like to able to do is just start the plugin up and have it start randomly playing when I press the green button, is it possible to preload all the tracks into a database ?

I also feel that the randomness of the plugin is not as random as it might be but its hard to be certain of this, its just that some tracks do seem to come up quite often, and other tracks never get selected.

  Re-occuring Event Errors
Posted by: nrk666 - 2005-08-18, 10:10 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

If you have scheduled recordings scheduled for the 15th of the month, then go back and schedule a re-occuring event on a date less than the 15th (say, starting on the 12th) the event doesn't show up in the PENDING event window. I don't know if it actually records the show or not if its not listed in PENDING. It is listed in the "Reoccurring" window.

It does work correctly as long as you never schedule a recording earlier than an existing scheduled recording.

I don't know if its just a display bug or if it will bleed into the actual recordings or not.
